Dear Parents and Carers, We are now at the end of our Spring term and I am pleased to share some more good news with you! The building works in the Infant department are complete! The staff will be moving classrooms over the Easter holidays and the infant children will start in their new classrooms straight after Easter! Infant children will line up in the same place on the playground to enter school in the morning and will also come out onto the playground and line up in the same place at the end of the school day. We will be having an open time for parents to come and look round after school 3:40-4pm: F2 parents Mon 27 th, Y1/2 parents Tues 28 th , Y3/4 parents Wed 29 th , Y5/6 parents Thurs 30 th . Any full time working parents are welcome to come early before the next Parents’ Forum (20 th May) to have a look around. Year 2 teachers were moderated by representatives from the authority to check that we are assessing the children correctly – they found that the year 2 team were 100% accurate with all their gradings and made no changes at all! Well done! Our current whole school theme Frozen Planet has really engaged the children and they enjoyed celebrating their work yesterday by building igloos and having a ‘Frozen Quiz’. Our whole school theme for next term is Heat! Uniform Many parents have been asking if there will be a new uniform, the answer is – not yet! From Sept 2015 our uniform will remain unchanged and we may look into having a new uniform for the following academic year. We will keep you updated as to any developments. Many thanks to all parents for your continued support to the school.

Parent view: A reminder that your opinions can be shared at https://parentview.ofsted.gov.ukOfsted will look at this before our next inspection so we would encourage parents to share their views about our school.

Parents’ forumThe last parents’ forum went very well and the minutes from this will be available on our Website on 20th April. At this meeting we discussed feedback from the questionnaires parents completed at parents’ evening – many thanks to those who filled in a questionnaire. The results were as follows:

We are pleased that many of the parents’ responses were positive however, we always strive to improve and we now want to do further work to address the areas with highest % of disagreement: Bullying & information about progress. We will keep you updated regarding developments in these areas. The next parents forum (20th May) will be introducing our new assessment systems as current National Curriculum levels will be redundant from next academic year (please see attached letter).

Thought for the dayAt Easter time, as well as eating chocolate eggs, Christians remember Jesus dying and coming back to life. The resurrection gives life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what the circumstances. – Robert Flatt

NEW WEBSITE!We are launching our new website after Easter (20th April). We hope you will like the fresh new look of the website and we look forward to making improvements to this. Any feedback would be gratefully received, please feel free to email the school office (details on the website). One of the first items we will be posting is an online questionnaire that will allow all parents and carers to have a say in what they would like to see on the site. It will also seek comments on the best methods for the school to communicate with parents as we look to incorporate email communications for those who would like to use this option. Please keep checking the site after the Easter Holidays.
