Dear Guest,

Thank you for watching defy theatre’s first ever show, Spring Awakening, at the NoHo Arts Center. This is simply the first production of many, as defy theatre aims to create new theatre and new opportunities in the Los Angeles Area. We are a non-profit company, and as such, thrive on donations more than ticket sales. You can make a donation at defytheatre.org, it goes a long way to aiding productions.

In addition to creating bigger and better theatre, defy also believes in paying actors a reasonable sum for their work. For too long actors in small shows were expected to work for a meager sum or no money at all, and our mission is to change that. While change doesn’t happen overnight, we are pleased to say that actors in “Spring Awakening” are paid two to four times the required stipend for a 99-seat show. We only wish we could do more, and perhaps in the future, with your help, we can.

Thank you for coming to see the show, and we hope to see you in the future.

Best,

-Michael Kozachenko Director and Founder, defy theatre
