• Consistent, twice a week sessions• Small peer-facilitated group (2-5 students)• Tutors high in overall effectiveness• More satisfied with their college experience
“[My tutor] was very helpful and thanks to him I was able to get an A on that class. After his sessions, I would get with a group study and I would teach them what he had taught me, and it had helped many people pass the class and earn a good grade in the exams.”

Academic DishonestyWhat is it?
• Copying someone else’s homework• Working with another student on a take home exam or
homework when not allowed by the professor• Giving or selling your work to another student who plans to
turn it in as their own work – including giving answers to others on tests, giving or selling your term paper
• Handing in someone else’s work or computer or lab assignments as your own
Dean of Students Office
Before the Test• Most exams – even take home exams - are individual efforts• Preparation - ALL semester• Review all the information – notes, problems assigned, quizzes
and tests• Attend tutoring or SI sessions or your own study group• Ask Yourself Questions• Use Flash Cards• Arrive early and pick out your favorite seat
Dean of Students Office
Facing the Test• Preview the whole test and read directions carefully• Plan your time –decide which sections that will take
the most time• Start with the easy sections• Continue to think positively – don’t doubt yourself• Review your test before turning it in
Dean of Students Office
During the Test• Outline answers on essay questions• Give short answers for short-answer questions• Read directions carefully – don’t accidentally do
extra work• Skip difficult questions and save them for the end• Ask questions of your professor or teaching
assistant if you have them – do NOT ask the person sitting next to you
Dean of Students Office
After the Test• Review and Rework any problems on your exam
that you missed.• Determine where the instructor derived the
questions on the test (books, notes, labs, etc.)• The instructor is the best one to ask since he/she
wrote the exam
