been taken to create greenery in the college by planting trees and colourful flowering plants. We also have green
house and a well maintained Botanical Garden. Open spaces have been covered by pavers and lawns.
Energy conservation: The college classrooms are naturally well lit and ventilated. So fans and lights are
used judiciously.
Use of renewable energy: T.Y.B.Sc. Physics students have constructed solar charge controller and solar
panel which is used in the campus for lighting. This is an initial step to use renewable energy.
We have started drip irrigation in the College.
Checkdam construction: Ground water retention is enhanced by covering open spaces by pavers and
lawn.
Efforts for Carbon neutrality and Plantation: Annually NCC and NSS students undertake tree
plantations in the College premises.
Hazardous waste management: Old chemicals and hazardous chemicals are disposed according to the
procedures prescribed by the Pollution Control Board, Government of Goa.
E-waste management: e-waste such as old computers, UPS is sent for re-cycling through proper
procedures.

Vermi-Composting: It is a green manure processed by earthworms from the organic waste which otherwise
creates pollution. A Vermi-compositing pit which can take care of fallen leaves, vegetable waste and fruit
waste is built in the campus. Special variety of earthworms provided by ICAR, is used for this process. It
takes about a month to convert waste to manure. This manure is used for plants in the college garden. Being
