Introduction

ARGUS Valuation-DCF (ValDCF) is the recognized standard for CRE cash flow projection, asset valuation

and transaction analysis. It represents the “ARGUS” brand value and is the foundation for the company’s

distinctive competency in the CRE information technology marketplace.

DCF application can be installed on any local machine with minimum requirements. The application is

flexible enough to be installed in any environments like XenServer & XenApp.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to help the administrators install DCF on XenServer and XenApp. This

document also details the troubleshooting steps if any catastrophes are encountered while running DCF

in this environment.

Scope

This document limits its scope with

• A brief introduction about XenServer & XenApp

• System requirements to setup XenServer & XenApp environments

• Pre-requisites to run DCF

• How to install DCF on XenServer and XenApp

Intended Audience

This document is primarily aimed at system administrators / users who need to setup and install DCF on

XenServer and XenApp application servers.

�� Assuming the readers of this document are familiar with Xen and understand how to setup &

install XenServer.

XenServer 5.5

A XenServer installation consists of two separate, physical computers; one being the XenServer host and

the other to run the XenCenter management application.

• XenServer is a 64-bit, x86 server-class platform dedicated entirely to the task of hosting VMs and

is not used for other applications.

• XenCenter is a Windows based client application that runs on a remote machine and is used to

manage XenServer hosts.


XenApp6

XenApp enables to publish the applications via any windows applications and deliver them as services to

users anywhere on any device. The Windows applications can be virtualized, centralized, and managed

in the datacenter.

XenApp maintains a single instance of each application in application hub in the datacenter.

Applications are then delivered via application streaming to Windows PCs for offline use or run on high-

powered servers in the datacenter for online use on any device or operating system.

Advantages of using virtual application delivery with XenApp help to improve application management

by:

• Centralizing applications in the datacenter to reduce costs

• Controlling and encrypting access to data and applications

to improve security

• Delivering applications instantly to users anywhere


System Requirements

XenServer host system requirements

The XenServer host is a 64-bit x86 server-class machine devoted to hosting multiple VMs. This machine

runs a stripped-down Linux operating system with a Xen-enabled kernel which controls the interaction

between the virtualized devices seen by VMs and the physical hardware.

XenServer can make use of:

• up to 128 GB of RAM

• up to 6 NICs

• up to 32 CPU cores

The following are the system requirements for the XenServer host:

Component Requirements

Processor One or more 64-bit x86 CPU(s), 1.5 GHz minimum, 2 GHz or faster multicore CPU

recommended

To support VMs running Windows, an Intel VT or AMD-V 64-bit x86-based system with

one or more CPUs is required.

�� To run Windows VMs, hardware support for virtualization must be enabled on the XenServer host.

To support VMs running supported paravirtualized Linux, a standard 64-bit x86-based

system with one or more CPUs is required.

RAM 1 GB minimum, 2 GB or more recommended

Hard Disk Locally attached storage (PATA, SATA, SCSI) with 16 GB of disk space minimum, 60 GB

of disk space recommended

General disk space requirements for VMs:

• Product installation creates two 4GB partitions for the XenServer host control

domain; remaining space is available for VMs

• VMs based on the Debian templates are allocated a 4GB root device, and a

512MB swap device

• Linux VMs are allocated a root device of 8 GB

• Windows Vista and Server 2008 VMs are allocated a root device of 24 GB;

other Windows VMs default to 8 GB.

Network

Interface Card

100 Mbit/s or faster network interface card (NIC). A gigabit NIC is recommended for

faster P2V and export/import data transfers and for live relocation of VMs.

�� Contact internal IT Support to setup XenServer host.


XenCenter5.6 requirements

The remote XenCenter application for managing the XenServer host can be installed and run on any

Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP or Windows Vista machine.

The system requirements for XenCenter are:

Component Requirements

Operating system Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista

SP1 and SP2

.NET framework version 2.0 or above

CPU Speed 750 MHz minimum, 1 GHz or faster recommended

RAM 1 GB minimum, 2 GB or more recommended

Disk space 100 MB minimum

Network interface card 100Mb or faster NIC

VM support

Windows VMs can be created only on XenServer hosts equipped with Intel VT-enabled or AMD-V CPUs.

All Windows VMs are created by installing the operating system from either the Microsoft installation

media in the XenServer host physical CD/DVD-ROM drive or a network-accessible ISO image of the

appropriate template.

Linux VMs do not require XenServer hosts that are equipped with Intel VT-enabled or AMD-V CPUs.

�� Contact internal IT Support to add / create VMs on the XenServer.

XenApp Requirements for Windows Server 2008 R2

Supported operating system:

• Windows Server 2008 R2, except the Web Server edition and the core installation option.

XenApp Prerequisites

• Latest Citrix License Server that includes most recent version of plug-ins and agents, Web

Interface, Single Sign-on, Service Monitoring, EdgeSight, SmartAuditor, Application Session

Recording, Provisioning Services, and Power and Capacity Management.

For Command line Deploying Prerequisites

• IIS role services using the Microsoft ServerManagerCmd.exe command or Powershell, which

Microsoft provides for Windows operating system roles.

Supported OS for XenApp Management

• Windows Server 2008

• Windows Server 2003 (Standard, Datacenter, and Enterprise editions)


• Windows XP Professional

• Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions), 32-bit and 64-bit editions, with

Service Pack 1

• Windows 7

Data Store Databases

The following databases are supported for the data store:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express (can be deployed for you by the XenApp Server Configuration

Tool when creating a new XenApp farm)

• Microsoft SQL Server 2005

• Microsoft SQL Server 2008

• Oracle 11g R2

DCF requirements

The user has to login with admin credentials.

Component Requirement

Operating system Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Vista

SP1 and SP2

.NET framework version 3.5

Processor Pentium III or better

RAM 256 MB RAM

Disk space 150 MB Free Disk Space

Browser Requirement Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

• Recommended to install Dot NET framework 3.5. Else, the DCF application itself will install the

framework.

• It is mandatory to install MS Office 2003 or later. It is a requirement for ARGUS Report Writer,

used to export & import the reports to MS Excel.


Install DCF on XenServer

Prerequisites

• XenServer is installed on a server machine.

• XenCenter is installed on a client (user) machine.

�� The local machine must have administrator privileges to install XenCenter.

• Download DCF installation files to the local machine.

Access XenCenter

Step 1.

Login as administrator in the local machine (where, XenCenter is successfully installed), and

navigate through Start �� All Programs �� Citrix XenCenter.

Step 2.

The XenCenter application displayed as shown below.

Add New Server


Step 3.

Connect to the XenServer (installed and booted on the server machine). Click the Add New Server

to connect to the XenServer. The following dialog box is displayed.

� Enter the IP address of the XenServer in the Server field.

� Enter the User login credentials of the XenServer.

Example

User name: root

Password: pass@123

�� These credentials are configured while configuring XenServer environment.

� Click the Add button to connect and add the XenServer to XenCenter, it displays a progress

bar as shown below.

Step 4.

Once the XenServer is successfully connected, the following screen is displayed.

� It displays all the virtual machines configured on the XenServer

Step 5.

VM can be started in the following ways:

� Right-click on the Window Server 2008 R2 VM, and select Start to launch the virtual

machine.

� Select the respective VM and click the Start button on the menu bar

� Navigate to the Console tab of the respective VM and click “Click here to start it” link.

Step 6.

Once the VM is started, the console of the Windows Server can be seen through the Console tab.

Navigate to the Console tab to view the user interface of the Windows Server 2008 R2.

Install DCF

Step 1.

Double click the DCF setup file to install the DCF application.

Step 2.

The DCF installation wizard begins extracting the contents of the DCF package.

�� The installation package has been compressed to increase the speed of download.

Step 3.

Select the language to be used during the installation process and click the Next button to

continue.

Step 4.

The status bar of setup process is displayed.

Step 5.

Once the setup process is completed, the following ‘Thank You’ screen is displayed. Click the Next

button to continue with the registration of the product with Argus.

Step 6.

Enter the name of the user (preferably, owner of the machine) and click the Next button.

Step 7.

The default path of the destination where the setup installs the files is displayed on screen. To

change the default folder, click the Browse button for the required folder on the local hard drive

and click the Next button.

Step 8.

Select the components to be installed and click the Next button.

� ARGUS Valuation - DCF Files

o Installs the system files required to run the application

� ARGUS Valuation - DCF Language Files

o Installs the system files pertaining to each language supported. The supported

languages include:

• French

• Spanish

• German

• Japanese

• Chinese

• Example Files

� Installs sample files and education sample files

o Files installed to the Data folder

� Help Files

o In program Help accessed by pressing F1 or the Help button

o The ARGUS.chm files are installed to C:\Windows\Help

• ARGUS.chm – US English


• ARGUS3.chm – Japanese

• ARGUS4.chm – French

• ARGUS5.chm – German

• ARGUS6.chm – Spanish

• ARGUS8.chm – Chinese

� ODBC Files

o Used for OpenARGUS which supports importing and exporting data from Microsoft

Access databases and Microsoft SQL Server open databases

o The ARGUSv15.mdb is installed to the target folder

� ARGUS OBA

o Installs the Argus.ArgusOBA.ExcelAddin2007 addin.

Step 9.

Choose whether to enable the Market Comparison Report and click the Next button.

If this option is enabled, ARGUS Market Data Services will produce a report showing the

comparison of the user’s property to the other assets in the same metropolitan area.

Step 10.

Choose a name for the start menu folder that will contain the program icons and shortcuts. This

appears in Start �� All Programs �� ARGUS Software menu.

� Click the Next button to view the ‘Ready to Install the Program’ screen.

Step 11.

Click the Install button to begin the installation.

� Click the Back button to view or modify any of the previously selected components.

� Click the Cancel button to abort the installation process.


Step 12.

The status bar shows the progress of the files installed while setup.

Step 13.

Once, the setup has completed the installation, the following options are displayed.

� To see what is new in ARGUS Valuation – DCF Version 15, select “Yes, I want to view the

Release Notes file now” option.

� To launch the application, select “Yes, I want to run ARGUS Valuation – DCF now” to run

the program now.

�� If prompted to restart your computer, please do so before attempting to run the application.

� Click the Finish button. If the above options are selected, the system launches the Release

Notes file and/or DCF application respectively.

� If ARGUS OBA option is selected in the features list, it will install now. Else, go to Step 20.’

Step 14.

Accept the License Agreement to install the ARGUS OBA add-in.

� Click the Accept button to accept the license agreement.

Step 15.

The status bar shows the progress of the files installed while setup.

Step 16.

This setup will connect to the MS Office website and downloads the customization Installer.

Step 17.

Click the Install button to install Argus.ArgusOBA.ExcelAddin2007 required for ARGUS OBA.

Step 18.

On successful installation, the following screen is displayed.

� Click the Close button to exit the installation wizard. It automatically launches the

application if the option is selected as shown in Figure 20.


Step 19.

To confirm if the OBA add-in has been successfully installed, open MS Excel and navigate through

Excel Options �� Add-ins, the Argus.ArgusOBA.ExcelAddin2007 add-in is listed as shown below.

Step 20.

ARGUS Valuation – DCF will be available in the ARGUS Software folder on the Start menu and as a

shortcut on your Windows Desktop.

Step 21.

When launching the application for the first time, the user will be prompted to authorize the

program by entering the Product Key.

� Enter the Product Key, Email Address, and Company Name in the respective text fields

� Select the Location where you will be using ARGUS Valuation – DCF.

� Click the Check Out button to proceed further with the license agreement.

� Accept the License to launch the DCF application.

�� The user may print or save a copy of the license agreement for review.

Step 22.

ARGUS Valuation – DCF 15 will be available in the ARGUS Software folder on the Start menu and

as a shortcut on your Windows Desktop.

Install DCF on XenApp

Prerequisites

• XenApp is configured on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Operating System.

• Make sure to install DCF application in the XenApp server. Follow the installations steps listed in

Install DCF section to install DCF on Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.

• Ensure all the components of XenApp are installed on the system.

Publish DCF application

Step 1.

Once the XepApp is installed successfully, launch the Citrix Delivery Services Console from Citrix

folder.

Step 2.

This initializes the Citrix Delivery Services Console as shown below

Step 3.

Once the console is launched, the XenApp server side components are listed in the left pane. The

XenApp server will be configured for ARGUS by internal IT support; hence, the components like

Administrators, Servers, and Zones are listed for ARGUS.

To publish an application for ARGUS, navigate through Citrix Resources � XenApp � Argus �

Applications.

Step 4.

Right-click on the Applications and select Publish Application option; it displays the Publish

Application wizard.

Step 5.

Publish Application wizard for XenApp is displayed to guide the user the process of publishing an

application. Click the Next button to configure the basic information of the application.

Step 6.

The users can set name of the application to be displayed to the end-users of this application

� Enter the Display name (will be displayed to users after publishing the application) and

Application description in the respective text fields.

Step 7.

Select the type of the application to be published.

Three types of resources can be published (server desktop, content, and application) and the next

steps in the wizard differ based on type of application selected.

� Server desktop: Specify the XenApp, Metaframe or Presentation Server to be published.

� Content: Identifies the location (URL or UNC) where the content resides.

� Application: Choose Accessed from a server as the application type unless you intend to

stream your applications.

�� This document details the screens for only Application type publishing.

Step 8.

Select the Application type as Application

� Select if the application has to be streamed / can be accessed from server

� Select the server application type as Installed Application from the drop-down list.

� Click the Next button.

Step 9.

Browse the command line location of the application

� For Example, "C:\Program Files [x86]\ARGUS Software\DCF\ARGUS.EXE"

� It populates the Working directory by default. To change default folder, click the Browse

button and select the required folder.

� Click the Next Button to navigate to the Servers screen

Step 10.

Select the XenApp server for the DCF application to be installed on.

� Click the Add button on Citrix Servers screen; it displays the configured XenApp servers as

shown above.

� Select the XENAPP server and click the Add button. The selected server is displayed in the

Selected items section.

� Click the OK button on Select Servers window

� Click the Next button on Citrix Servers screen


Step 11.

Specify the users who can access the application

� Select Allow only configured users option to provide access to published application for the

configured users.

o Select directory type as “Operating System User Selector”.

o Click the Add button; it displays the Select Users or Groups window as shown

below.

o Enter the username with the domain.

Ex: corp\xenapp

o Click the OK button; the configured users are displayed as shown below.

�� To configure multiple users, click the Add button again and enter user details.

� Click the Next button.

Step 12.

Select the shortcut presentation of the application

� Click the Change icon button to change the icon of application that will be displayed after

publishing the application.

� Enter the client application folder (if required)

� Select the Add to the client’s Start menu to add the application to client’s Start menu

� Select the Add shortcut to the client’s desktop to add the application shortcut on the client’s

desktop.

� Click the Next button

Step 13.

The user can select the options to

� Disable application initially, and enable when required.

� Configure advanced application settings

� Click the Finish button to close the wizard and publish the application immediately.


Step 14.

Once published, the users can launch the application remotely using web URL. For this the user

needs to get the URL of the application. This is actually configured while setting up the

environment for XenApp.

� Navigate through Citrix Web Interface Management, to view the site URL.

All the users can connect to the URL from any of their local machines and launch the DCF

application.

� Enter the User Name and Password in the required fields

� Click the Login button to view and launch the applications published to the site.

�� These credentials are also configured while setting up the XenApp environment.

Step 16.

All the published applications can be viewed in this screen.

� Double-click the DCF application link; it initializes the Argus DCF application and launches it

as shown below.

DCF Node Installation

Network Install

Go through DCF Install Instructions Manual for network and node install.

Create Batch file

• Open a blank notepad

• Enter the following text

net use X: \\servername\sharename

X:

cd DCF

start Argus.EXE

Where,

� X: � Mapped drive

� servername � System IP / System name

� sharename � Shared Folder name

E.g. \\172.20.76.82\argus

� DCF � DCF Installed location in mapped drive

• Save file as “argus.cmd” in ‘C’ drive.

Publish DCF

Step 1.

Navigate through Install DCF on XenApp � Publish DCF application

Step 2.

Follow the steps Step 1 to Step 8 to publish DCF on Network

Step 3.

Browse the command line location of the application.


�� As we are working on a network, mapping to the network drive i.e., if the Location of the mapped drive is given as "X:\XX\DCF\ARGUS.EXE", it may publish successfully but may generate errors while launching the application. To avoid such errors, create batch file and provide its location.

Browse the batch file “argus.cmd” that was created already.

� Select All files(*.*) from the drop down list; it displays all files.

�� By default only folders & executable files are displayed.

� Select the “argus.cmd” file and click the Open button.

� Click the Next Button to navigate to the Servers screen

Step 4.

Follow the steps Step 10 – Step 16 to complete publishing the DCF through node installation .


Troubleshooting

Install OBA Add-in

Case 1.

If ARGUS OBA option is selected in the features list, it will install the add-in soon after the

installation of DCF. But, while installing the ARGUS OBA, the following error may pop-up.

� In such cases, click the Details button to view the error report. Try to install OBA add-in

again, the installer connects to Microsoft site and installs the OBA. Please go through Step

14 to Step 19 in Install DCF section, for OBA installation.

Case 2.

If the users try to re-install ARGUS OBA, the following message is displayed saying that the add-in

has already been installed.


Avoid APL + Win errors

Step 1.

Go to Control Panel and click System and Maintenance

Click the Advanced system settings link under Tasks.

� Click the Continue button to view the System Properties.

Step 4.

Select the Advanced tab to view the Performance, User Profiles settings etc.

Step 5.

Click the Settings button for Performance; the Performance Options dialog is displayed

Step 6.

Click the Data Execution Prevention tab to turn on DEP for all programs and services. DEP helps

protect against damage from viruses and other security.

Step 7.

Click the Add button to browse the path of the installed ARGUS DCF

� Select ARGUS.exe

Ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\ARGUS Software\DCF\ARGUS.exe

Step 8.

Make sure the “APL+Win run time system” is added

� Click the Apply button to make the changes effective and click OK

Step 9.

Launch the DCF application and observe that APL+ WinRun time errors are not displayed.


Appendix A: Steps to Install XenCenter

Step 1.

Double-click the “XenServer-5.x.x-XenCenter” .exe file to setup XenCenter in the local machine. It

displays the Citrix XenCenter Setup wizard as shown below.

Step 2.

Click the Next button to browse the path of default folder of XenCenter.

Select Install options for following users -

� All Users: To allow all the users of the machine to access XenCenter application.

� Just Me: To allow only logged-in user to access XenCenter application.

Step 3.

Click the Install button to begin the installation of Citrix XenCenter.

Step 4.

The status bar showing the progress of the XenCenter installation is displayed.

Step 5.

Once the installation is completed, the following screen is displayed.

� Click the Finish button to exit the XenCenter setup wizard.
