Daylight Saving Time

Thoughts on Daylight Savings Time (DST) For my topic I wanted to survey people on Daylight Savings Time, which is a bi-annual occurrence of a shift in time. I had 3 questions to ask those who choose to answer them. They included, “Do you like Daylight Savings Time?” “How does Daylight Savings Time affect you?” and “If possible, would you rather keep or get rid of Daylight Savings Time?” To get my 25 respondents I choose to go online and find communities of people who would respond. On the site reddit.com exist a subgroup called r/SampleSize is filled with people who will answer surveys in good fashion. Since the Internet is anonymous and these people can be from anywhere it was a random sample. In my rating scale I had 4 choices to choose from. They ranged from “Strongly Dislike” and “Dislike” to “Like” and “Strongly Like.” Of the 32 responses 25% strongly disliked, 25% disliked, 50% liked, and no one choose the strongly like option. To start, I believe that the reason no one strongly liked DST is because the fact that most people dislike it, but the ones who do like it would be gracious enough to click the top selection. The majority of the answers were under the “Like” selection because DST helps many adjust to the time of fall and spring which is why I believe many would like it. Next the following 2 lower answers both had the same 25% to them because many people (or in this case half) don’t like loosing the hour, which would cause them to either “Dislike” or “Strongly Dislike” DST. For my responses question I can sort it into 3 basic groups: people who aren’t affected by DST, people whose sleep schedule messes up, and other who like it because it helps save electricity. For many people who aren’t affected by DST I would say are the ones who are already getting up early or just don’t notice time too much. Next, the group of those whose sleep schedule was messed up I would guess are a younger crowd who believe they still loose an hour and don’t

For many people who arent affected by DST I would say are the ones who are already getting up early or just dont notice time too much. Next, the group of those whose sleep schedule was messed up I would guess are a younger crowd who believe they still loose an hour and dont completely grasp the idea yet. Lastly, I would say the final group is those who are more mature and care for things bigger than themselves such as the amount of electricity we use. This is why they would rather have our time changed then use more electricity. In my survey the population would be the 14,477 reddit users of r/SampleSize who could of taken my survey. The sample would be the 32 people who actually took the survey. The statistic would be that 75% (24 people) would rather Get Rid of DST than keep it. Last, the parameter would be the percentage of people would rather keep/get rid off DST of the subgroup on Reddit. For an 80% confidence interval of yes or in my case Keep DST, the range would go from 13.7% to 36.3%. Furthermore if the interval were changed to 95% the range would widen because to be that accurate you would have more people. In a mathematical sense it is wider because the 1.28 is replaced with a 2. This interval makes sense because 80% of samples of my sample size, 32, taken from the population would contain the population parameter.
