Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss. It affects both males and females alike. Samantha Z., one of our students has organized this event, created posters, announcements, and class presentations to help people understand this condition. Students are encouraged to donate a loonie or toonie to wear their favourite hat all day. Funds raised will go to families who can’t afford to buy wigs or hats for their families/children. Over the holidays, another Fairwood student, Julia C. donated to the Canadian Cancer Society 8 inches of her hair to help make wigs for people who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment. This simple act of generosity makes a world of difference to people with cancer. It takes 8 to 15 ponytails to create 1 real-hair wig. This is the second time Julia has donated. Parent Night In partnership with Lakeside and Sutton Public Schools, we would like to invite our families to an interactive and informative session about “Understanding Children and Stress”. This session will be held at Lakeside Public School in the library from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Dinner will be provided. Please register early as spaces are limited. Flyer is attached. Student Agendas

Term Two begins on Monday, February 5th. All students in Grades 1 – 8 are strongly encouraged to use an agenda on a daily basis. Our school agenda:

● includes important information about the school; ● is a tool for students to record homework, important dates, and notes; and ● is a useful way for teachers and parents to communicate.

Parents/guardians, please check your child’s agenda daily. If you wish to purchase an agenda through the school, provide $2.00 by Friday, February 2nd to your child’s teacher. 2018-2019 ~ Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2018-2019 school year will begin on Friday, January 19th. Registration forms are available on YRDSB’s website: www.yrdsb.edu.on.ca or from our school office. Children who were born in 2013 or 2014, live within the school boundary and whose parents are public school tax supporters will be eligible to register for kindergarten.

A kindergarten information session for parents is being planned for this spring. If you have questions about registration, please contact the office.

French Immersion—Registration begins January 19, 2018 Information sessions for the French Immersion (FI) program will take place at Keswick Public School on January 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. FI registration will begin January 19, 2017. In order to streamline the registration process, parents or guardians of Senior Kindergarten students entering Grade 1 in 2018, and wishing to enroll in the FI Program, can visit or call the school office and request an Office Index Card - short version.

The Office Index Card must be signed by the principal of the home school. Parents or guardians then take this form, along with one piece of identification showing their address to Keswick PS to register between January 19 and February 16, 2018. This eliminates the need to provide duplicate enrollment information or to pre-register.

Grade 8 Course Selection and Open House, Wednesday, January 17th
