Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP)

• LTF3/LTR3: Low temperature, flat (LF)

and low temperature, round (LR) cables

provide good perormance in lower-pressure,

cooler, less gassy wells. Tese cables are insulated

with the best grade o metal-deactivated

polypropylene or down-hole applications.

A nitrile rubber jacket offers additional physical

protection and reduces the possibility o damage

due to gas, heat, and pressure. Standard armor

protects against corrosive wells, but, or highly

corrosive wells, special armors can be used toimprove the run lie o the cable and to protect

against mechanical damage.

• MTF4/MTR4: Medium temperature, flat

(MF) and medium temperature, round

(MR) cables offer good perormance in

moderately hot, gassy wells and where

decompression resistance is required. Tese

cables eature lead sheaths that provide a

superior barrier to the damaging effects o

H2S and other harsh well fluids/gases.

• MTF3/MTR3: MF3/MR3 cables provide

good perormance in the lower-pressure,

cooler, less gassy wells. Tese cables

eature a nitrile jacket which provides a

level o protection to the ethylene propylene

diene monomer (M-class) rubber (EPDM)

insulation rom the well fluids. Tese cables

have a barrier tape over the insulation,

enabling the jacket to be removed without

damage to the insulation, and a second

barrier tape over the jacket to protect it rommechanical damage.

• MTF2/MTR2: MF2/MR2 cables provide a cost-effective

solution or moderate temperature wells. Te insulation is a

high-quality EPDM with a barrier o adhesive polymer between

the copper and EPDM. Te three phases are protected individually

by a bedding tape(s) and a low oil-swell EPDM jacket.

The Power Cable

Te electrical submersible pumping (ESP) system

power cable, in conjunction with the motor, plays

a critical role in supplying the energy or the ESP

string. Its quality and proper selection influence

the overall run lie and perormance o the ESP

system. Te ESP power cable uses special insulation

systems, ormulated and manuactured in alliance

with our industry-experienced strategic cable

suppliers, to provide a ull line o cables so reliable

that they are invisible to the system run lie.

Halliburton offers a wide selection o ESP power

cable configurations (round or flat) or any

casing diameter that eature a layered/armored

construction. Tese configurations are applicable

or a ull range o temperatures up to 450°F (232°C),

gas content including carbon dioxide (CO2) or

hydrogen sulfide (H2S), chemicals such as suluric

acid (H2SO

4) or carbonic acid (H

2CO

3), and

pressure environments. Halliburton’s ESP power

cable is available in 3000, 4000, and 5000 voltage

ratings, with up to two embedded 3/8-in. capillary

lines, and American wire gauge (AWG) conductorsizes o 1, 2, 4, and 6.

All Halliburton ESP power conductor operating

temperatures adhere to recommended guidelines,

based on Neher-McGrath calculations presented

in IEEE Std 1018 and 1019. All manuacturing and

testing are based on the industry standard API RP

11S5, API RP 11S6, ASM A459, ASM B3, and

ASM D412.

• MTF1/MTR1: MF1/MR1 cables provide a cost-effective

solution or moderate temperature wells. Te insulation is a

high-quality EPDM with a barrier o adhesive polymer between the

copper and EPDM. Helically wrapped tape supplies decompression

resistance. Te three phases are protected individually by a

eflon®/bedding tape(s) and a low oil-swell EPDM jacket.

• HTF3/HTR3: High temperature, flat (HF) and high

temperature, round (HR) cables provide good perormance

in hot, high levels o gases wells and where decompression

resistance is required. Tese cables eature lead sheaths that

contribute a superior barrier to the damaging effects o H2S

and other harsh well fluids/gases to protect against chemical

and/or gas migration. Te standard armor provides protection

in moderate corrosive wells, but, or highly corrosive wells,

special armors can be used to improve the run lie o the cable

and to protect against mechanical damage.

• MFL3: Motor flat leads (MFL) are low-profile cables used as

extensions to the motor. Te cables are designed to operate

at a maximum operating temperature o 450°F (232°C) and

can be delivered in a flat configuration. MFL3 cables use a

specially compounded oil-resistant EPDM insulation with

proven electrical properties, and use two layers o heat-sealed

polyimide tape over the conductor. Te polyimide tape has very

high dielectric strength, enabling the insulation to achieve and

maintain a high level o electrical integrity. A lead sheath is

used to protect against chemical and/or gas migration. Te

lead sheath barrier prevents decompression and is ideal or

wells that are hot and contain a high level o gases. Tis cable

can be manuactured with special armors to meet various

well requirements.

Delivery

All o the ESP pumps are ully integrated into Halliburton’s industry-leading,

customer-oriented global service network. Beginning at the manuacturing

plant in China, which has provided high-quality ESP systems or operators

across the globe or over a decade, and then to the Halliburton Field

Service echnician who supervises the installation and startup o the

pumps on site, Halliburton’s quality-management system solves

challenges at any stage o the process or operators in mature

fields, unconventional resources, and deepwater. Control

o this work flow enables continuous improvement in

the hydraulic designs so that they fit customer-specific

requirements, improve operating efficiencies, and adapt

to the dynamic conditions o the oil field.

Halliburton’s Artificial Lif offerings help operators

increase recoverable hydrocarbons by selecting the

optimal lif method over the lie o the well cycleto enhance well drawdown and provide reliable

on-stream times that will maximize revenue and

decrease costly well interventions, leading directly to

increased customer profitability. Another important

value to the customer is the ability o our Artificial Lif

representative to collaborate across other Halliburton

product lines so that the recommended solution is

optimal not only rom the pump selection point o view

but also as it relates to delivering value to the reservoir.

Halliburton’s foundry provides high-quality

ESP stages and assembled/tested pumps for

a variety of customers and applications allacross the world.

Halliburton’s process entails the latest

technology in hydraulics, metallurgy,

machining, and assembly, and thequality is assured through the rigorous

quality-management system.

Halliburton technicians accompany the

ESP systems to the field and supervise the

installation and startup to maximize success.
