Street Violence Response Team (SVRT)

The Street Violence Response Team (SVRT) is a service coordination process organized to address the violence prevention and enforcement efforts of San Francisco, as well as identifying service providers that can offer continued support to those impacted by the violence.

California Partnership for Safe Communities (CPSC)

Reduce the rate of homicides and injury shootings which primary affect

communities of color.

1. Accomplish this goal by employing evidence-based strategies that reduce

violence while minimizing the use of arrest and incarceration.

2. Align various violence reduction efforts internally and across both justice

system and community intervention partners.

3. Develop a unified strategy to accomplish these objectives

California Violence Intervention & Prevention (CalVIP) Grant

Grant Dollars Requested: 1.5 MillionGrant Term: 3 years; 2020 – 2023

Project Title: CONNECT-You

Focus: Supervisorial District 10, Shamann Walton

Partners: - Street Violence Intervention Program (SVIP) - California Partnership for Safe Communities

(CPSC)- Northeastern University

Program Population: Adult, highest at-risk individuals

Objective: - Reduce shootings and homicides- Decrease recidivism, re-arrest, and

victimization- Build trust in and legitimacy of SFPD with

those individual impacted by violence.

This strategy will combine elements of procedural justice, intensive life coaching, and case management through a cognitive behavioral therapy model with aspects of focused deterrence.

Evaluation: Dr. Braga and the Northeastern team will conduct a rigorous evaluation of the impact of these strategies related to violent victimization, violent re-arrest, and community perceptions of trust and police legitimacy.
