Summer Reading Challenge

Darley Community Library based in CCCC is again joining with NYCC Libraries Service in promoting the

Reading Challenge. It is intended to help primary school children who have

started to learn to read to continue their progress during the summer.

The school break can slow down their progress, and this scheme which has now run successfully for a

number of years, is very popular with both parents and children.

The theme for 2015 is “Record Breakers”. The project starts on 11th July and finishes on

12th September. Full details are available in Darley Community Library

Local First Aid AssistanceDefibrillator Support: It is hoped that refresher sessions and more complete sessions can be offered during the Summer for those who are already trained or would like to be trained in the use of the equipment. Please contact the Parish Clerk (email below) if you wish to know when dates are arranged First Responders: The Nidderdale Safer Neighbourhoods Group wishes to recruit additional first responders so that another group can be established in the Dale, ensuring that help is nearer at hand. This would involve more comprehensive training, and a commitment of one or more days each month. Contact Sue Welch, Parish Clerk, for more info: [email protected]

You would then be free to put yourself up for election in May if you are enjoying the experience. Please contact the Clerk or Chairman ([email protected]) if you would like an informal chat about what is involved in being a Councillor. We look forward to hearing from you.It is likely that the Council will consider any possible co-optees at its meeting on 28th September so please submit a formal letter of application to the Clerk before 14th September if you wish to be considered.
