What We Don’t Want

1. Students using Apps and programs that fall into the

lowest levels of Blooms Taxonomy. These levels involve students only using the simple skills of memory and understanding

2. Students using the lowest forms of thinking when participating in ICT

3. Lesson/learning time being lost due to poor infrastructure, poor equipment and poor teacher knowledge

4. Students having limited access to a variety of ICT

5. Students not being aware of how to safely participate online

6. Teachers facing difficulties they don’t know how to solve and with no one to help them

7. Teachers being left to solve their own learning

Infinity Device Project

1. Every student in the school from Year 3 to Year 6 have their own

Infinity device 2. Families to purchase and provide for their child 3. The school will have a set of devices for students in K-2

Benefits of the above include:

• Teachers able to support students because there isn’t a variety of devices in the classroom and each lesson

• Students having their own device which then has their work plus access to the school server

• Ease of homework coming between home and school • The school providing opportunities for students for different

devices – iPads, desktops, laptops • The same device at each lesson means ease for teachers and

families to load Apps and programs onto student devices • Parents can see their child’s work

Other things to consider:

• Cost in the short term • Waiting for the next couple of years for all students to have the

same device • A system to be devised for students who qualify as low SES to be

supported with a device

Technology Leader Mentor 1. A Technology Leader position will be created through the Aspiring

Leadership program. This teacher will: • Provide teaching to students • Provide mentoring to teachers and students • Lead the school’s technology plan and, • Support the operation of the school’s network and technology

programs 2. Relieve a teacher from class teaching to provide teachers and students

with one lesson each week for mentoring teachers and students 3. Teachers will nominate what they need to learn. The

technology/mentoring teacher will teach each class teacher what they need while with students. The students will learn as well. We anticipate a new topic every 5 weeks. Teachers and students will be taught by modelled teaching

4. Teachers will receive lesson observation and feedback 5. The technology leader/mentor will train all staff through professional

learning of particular topics teachers need 6. The technology teacher/mentor will maintain the network and school

system

Benefits of the above: • Teachers learning appropriate skills for their students • Teachers’ skills being transformed • Students receiving a weekly technology lesson with the 2 teachers • Teachers being trained to identify ICT use on Blooms Taxonomy. This will

result in: o Teachers and students not using low level Apps that don’t promote

thinking o Teachers and students being taught to understand high level

thinking • Students will have greater ease of access to the system

Other things to consider: • The school will use the Computer Coordinator grant of $17,000 we receive

each year from the Department of Education to support this project and reduce the cost to families.

• Families will need to pay a fee for the program • The fee will include the annual Mathletics, Reading Eggs/Express, plus

other licences and software plus their weekly technology lesson

WE STRIVE • The annual fee will be approximately $120 which would be a $30 fee each

term
