Simes illumina il nuovissimo DANUBE ARENA di Budapest: il complesso costruito tra il 2015 e il 2017 comprende 6.000 posti fissi e altri 6.000 temporanei, due piscine per il nuoto, una per i tuffi e una piscina più piccola di allenamento e ospita i campionati mondiali di nuoto 2017. L’investimento fa parte di un complesso programma di sviluppo urbano che serve alla crescita della parte nord di Budapest. Si tratta del più grande programma di sviluppo delle infrastrutture sportive in Ungheria negli ultimi 30 anni.

SIMES illuminates the brand new DANUBE ARENA in Budapest: the complex, built between 2015 and 2017 accommodates 6.000 fixed and 6.000 temporary places, two swimming pools, one diving pool and one more small training pool. The building hosts the world swimming championship 2017. The investments are part of a complex programme of urban development aiming at the expansion of the northern part of Budapest. It is the biggest development programme of sport infrastructures in Hungary in the last thirty years.

L’architettura progettata Marcel Ferencz, noto architetto ungherese, si specchia nelle acque del Danubio e grazie a questa strategica collocazione ha un posto dominante nel paesaggio urbano. La facciata è realizzata in fogli di alluminio profilati in una disposizione a strisce dinamica che, con i suoi moti ondulati, rappresenta la connessione diretta con il fiume Danubio, e riflette i colori del paesaggio nei diversi momenti della giornata. La sera, invece, l’illuminazione esterna accende il Danube Arena sulle acque del fiume, in un gioco di riflessi che vede protagonista la luce.

The architecture designed by Marcel Ferencz, a well-known Hungarian architect, is reflected in the waters of the Danube River and thanks to this strategic arrangement it acquires a dominant placing in the urban landscape. The facade is made up of aluminium profile sheets in a dynamic sequence that creates a direct connexion between their undulated movements and the Danube River; it reflects the colours of the landscape during the different phases of the day. At night time on the contrary, the outdoor lighting illuminates the Danube Arena on the water mirror in a play of reflexions where light is the main player.

L’illuminazione dello spazio che circonda l’edificio è stata realizzata interamente con l’arredo urbano Avenue, che assume in questo contesto una valenza estetica e funzionale: estetica in quanto le geometrie pulite del prodotto si integrano perfettamente con il design di questa struttura dai toni spiccatamente moderni; funzionale in quanto l’illuminazione così concepita permette di illuminare correttamente le zone di transito e di accesso all’edificio.

The illumination of the area surrounding the building has been done exclusively with the street furniture AVENUE which provides in this environment both an aesthetical and a functional valence. An aesthetical one for the clean geometrics of the product perfectly blend with the design of a distinctly modern structure; a functional one for the lighting chosen provides the right lighting for the transit areas and the access to the building.

Nonostante la mole dell’edificio sia enorme, la sensazione che giunge allo spettatore è quella di un’onda sinuosa e flottante: le ampie vetrate poste alla base della struttura conferiscono luminosità agli ambienti e leggerezza all’edificio.

Despite the whopping size of the building, the spectator gets a feeling of a flexuous and floating wave: the large glass windows at the base of the structure give brightness to the environment and lightness to the building.

Essenziale, squadrato e dalla rigorosa pulizia formale AVENUE è un apparecchio progettato con un corpo di alluminio pressofuso, che racchiude una tecnologia LED di ultima generazione. Essential in its forms and with a clean cut design the AVENUE is a fixture designed with an aluminium die cast housing that contains the latest state of the art LED technology. The compact size and reduced thickness of AVENUE give an elegant solution to what is usually a complex product design issue. The innovative pole bracket allows for AVENUE to be positioned at any height and to adapt to different pole diameters . The advanced engineering of the optics place AVENUE at the top end of its category with an inter distance of 4 times the height of the pole.
