Back in ’63…gas cost 26 cents a gallon…a new group called theBeatles played The Ed Sullivan Show…and an odd-looking electric guitar burst onto the pages of the Sears catalogue.Danelectro’s ‘model 1449’ would soon become all the rage withgarage bands and pro players alike.

Why? One reason was tone. Danelectro’s pickups, ingeniouslyhoused in lipstick tubes, quickly became known for theirsignature twang. The guitar bodies were lightweight and featured a hollow inner chamber which made them sonicallyalive…unlike traditional solid bodies.

Fast forward over 45 years… Danelectro re-issues this prizedguitar, calling it the ‘Dano 63’. Danelectro’s first task in bringingback this great guitar was to replicate the 60’s era Lipstickpickups - hot, sweet and sonically accurate. Next, Dano upgradedthe tuners and bridges to make this guitar as much fun to play asit is to listen to.

And to make it just as fun to look at, Dano combed old paintarchives for just the right retro colours to capture the soul andspirit of this great guitar!
