Daniel 4:25…”till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom

of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses”

Page 9: Daniel 4:25

Daniel 4:37Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the

King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to

put down.

Nebuchadnezzar was a slow learnerChapter one = The dietary laws of Israel’s God are better.Chapter two = God tells the King his dream and the future.Chapter three = Only Israel’s God can deliver and

frustrate the commands of earth’s greatest ruler!

Page 11: Daniel 4:25

Nebuchadnezzar was a slow learnerIn spite of all of the revelation he had been given AND

the warning he received from the Lord, Nebuchadnezzar still refused to humble himself and honor the Lord.

Page 12: Daniel 4:25

“Seven times”Israel was told to honor the Lord with the Sabbath.

______________________________________

But there was more than one Sabbath.

Page 13: Daniel 4:25

“Seven times”One Sabbath involved the seventh day each week.

______________________________________

The other was to be kept every seventh year.Leviticus 25:1f.

Page 14: Daniel 4:25

“Seven times”Israel failed to keep the yearly Sabbath…for 490 years!

________________________________

In other words, they ignored it 70 times and went into captivity for 70 years as a consequence.

Jeremiah 25:8-14

“Seven times”Daniel “got it” and stood in Israel’s stead, confessing

their sin, as they had been told to respond.Daniel 9:1-4; Lev. 26:40-45; 2 Chron. 6:36-39

“Seven times”Israel’s punishment was for disobeying “70 times 7” or

490 years. They were in captivity one year for every Sabbath year

missed.They had to “get it”.

Page 17: Daniel 4:25

“Seven times”Interestingly, Israel’s future kingdom would arrive in

490 years, or 70 times 7… but only after they “got it” and repented.

Daniel 9:24-27; Joel 2:12f.

Page 18: Daniel 4:25

“Seven times”The book of the Revelation focuses on that last seven year period when the Gentiles of the future are given

seven years to “get it” like Nebuchadnezzar._____________________________

During that time, Israel “gets it” and repents!

“Seven times”God always gives plenty of time!

“And the point is…?”The importance of being teachable.

“And the point is…?”

Do we get it?Do we learn our lessons? Or, are we like

Nebuchadnezzar?

Do we just mouth the right words, maybe even in sincerity, while failing to “bring forth fruit in keeping

with” our repentance?
