The Hazeldean Pastoral Company Trophy for the most successful exhibitor in open merino classes will be in accordance with the following rules: (a) The exhibitor to hold the trophy for the year in which it was won (b) The following points to be awarded and the highest total is to win the trophy; 1st 3 points; 2nd 2 points; section champion 2 points; reserve section champion 1 point; grand champion 2 points, reserve grand champion 1 point; 1st for a group 3 points; 2nd for a group 1 point; Only 1 point will be scored in any class unless there are 2 or more competitors.

    JUNIOR JUDGING BEEF CATTLE

    RULES & REGULATIONS:a) Competitors must be over 15 and under 25 years of age on 1st May in the year of the State Final at the Royal Easter Show.b) To be eligible to compete for Group Finals, competitors must live and/or work in the district for three months, or be enrolled at a secondary or tertiary institution in the area.c) No competitor can represent more than one show society in any one Group Final and no more than one group in a State Final. The winners of a National Final cannot compete at any level in the particular competition that they won.d) Competitors will be eliminated from the competition if deemed by the chief steward to be receiving outside assistance.

    PROCEDURE1. Three classes of animals are judged by competitors, each class consisting of a different breed. If cattle available provide for only one or two classes, competition may still be conducted with appropriate adjustment to scoring.2. Animals in each class must be identifi ed by “breastplates ” numbered 1-4, (not A,B,C,D) with relevant age, weights and measurements on them (if available).This is essential when using the Hormel Computing Slide.3. The oral class of 4 animals will be nominated by the Overjudge or Chief Steward before judging commences.

    COMPETITION TIMINGFrom the point of view of the competitors, the animals and the spectators, it is important that the whole competition be completed in approximately one hour.In the case of 3 classes of animals being used, the timing would be as follows:

    • Judging 3 classes - 8 minutes each• Competitors’ oral tests - 3 minutes each

Wool to be bred and grown by exhibitor.7. Sheep, Cattle and Poultry to be penned by 9:00 am. Wool entries to be in by 9:30 am.8. 3rd place ribbons awarded if 5 in class in Sheep and Cattle sections9. All Protests must be in writing and delivered to the Secretary within 1 hour after completion of judging.10. Dalgety Show Society takes no responsibility for loss or damage to exhibits.11. All exhibits to remain in Pavilion until 4pm.12. Pavilion prize money to be collected from the Treasurer’s offi ce in the Pavilion between 4:00 and 5:30 pm. Horse prizemoney to be collected from Ring Secretary’s offi ce.13. All trophies will be awarded on day of show.14.
