    Focus on:

    Ireland, France In Ireland, the largest exporting Country in the Europe, there has been a sharp acceleration in

    milk production up to the end of 2010 and has continued into the early 2011, due mainly to highermilk prices and the priority for a Producer to maximize the production. The largest Farms arepreparing to take the opportunities offered by the quota end in 2015.

    Italy Italian milk production was up +1,39% in the period January-

    March 2011, compared to the same period of previous year.

    In 2011 milk production is projected to increase up to +0,7%approximately.

    Prices and Stocks (Ton) Butter and WMP prices are slightly decreasing. SMP prices have been

    steady to slightly higher, mainly due to the increase in demand and the

    limited stock available both in the USA and Oceania.

    Cheese prices are strengthening, due to increased demand by Russia,Mexico and South Korea.

    Butter Stocks are slightly increasing although volumes are lower than a

    year ago, whereas SMP Stocks continue to be stable or slightlydecreasing:

    BUTTER EU-27 : Ton 40.524 - 65,86% (May 2011 vs May 2010)

    Export - Import World

    The Dairy Product Exports (ton) of some of the main exporting countries as calculated provisionally onJanuary - April 2011 have increased by +20,27% compared to the same period of a previous year.

    The chart here below, on the other hand, evidences the main importing countries, summarised byGeographical Area, and highlights increased imports:

    by Southeast Asian countries, especially by China that is continuing to import in order to meet

    domestic needs as a direct consequence of the melamine scandal; by Developing countries which are increasing their incomes.

    Export EU-27External EU 27 Exports (January March 201I) The external EU-27 exports trend is positive as calculated in Jan-March 2011compared to the same period of a

    previous year. The EU-27 improved its leadership in exporting cheese and gained a quota market share on SMPmarket, due to the increase in demand by South East Asia, Africa and Middle East.

    Notwithstanding the strong China demand for WMP, there are no substantial changes in the European exports of

    this product.
