Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 8: Two fraud- sters decamped with 9 tolas gold from a house in Maheshpura area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar police station. As per police sources, two persons entered into a house at Maheshpura area of Bakshi Nagar owned by Dwarka Nath Sangra, son of Ram Lal Sangra. The persons termed them- selves as salesmen of a reputed company, which offers cleansing of gold ornaments. To gain the confidence, the persons cleansed the ring of the owner of the house with some liq- uid. Later, he (house owner) offered them all the gold orna- ments weighing around 9 tolas for cleansing. The fraudsters put the gold ornaments in a utensil and sprayed some liquid like material in it. They asked Dwarka Nath to boil the ornaments and open it when the water cools down. When the owner of the house opened the utensil, he found the gold ornaments missing and real- ized that he was befooled by the self-styled salesmen. He reported the matter to concerned police station and after registering a case under FIR Number 126/15 under Section 420 and 34 RPC, police launched manhunt to nab the fraudsters. However, no arrest was made till last reports were compiled. Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Oct 8: The NSS Unit of GCW, Udhampur organized a symposium on the topic "My Vote My Right" which comes under the Umbrella con- cept of SVEEP (systematic vot- ers' education and electoral par- ticipation). The programme began with the welcome address by Prof. Swarna Bhougal, NSS Programme Officer GCW, Udhampur. The programme formally began with the lightning of tra- ditional lamp by the chief guest of the occasion Prof. K.S Koushal Principal, GCW, Udhampur. Speaking on the topic, chief guest , emphasized that casting vote is the fundamental duty of the citizens. In all there were 10 partici- pants who spoke on the topic var- iedly. Girls students from different classes participated in the contest in which the first, second and third prizes went to Kajal of class 11th, Palvi of class 11th and Mehak of class 12th respectively. District Information Officer Doda (Nodal Officer SVEEP) Anoop Kumar, Tehsildar Doda Nasir Ali besides senior lecturers of the institution also spoke on the topic. In a statement issued here, today it said that the Reconstruction Committee has come into being on the basis of a collaborative effort by J&K Dharmarth Trust, Jawala Ji Samiti Khrew, Kashmir and some Kashmiri Pandit organiza- tions for the re-construction of the holy shrine which is the pre- siding deity of Kashmiri Hindus. SAMBA, Oct 8: The 97 Bn BSF Samba organised a voluntaryblood donation camp along with Civic Action Programme atGovernment Primary School Gujar Chak, near Border Post KotheSamba.

The programme was chaired by Ashok Kumar, Commandant of 97Bn BSF along with special invited Guest Dr Arun Sharma MedicalSuperintendent Government District Hospital Samba. Scores of peopleand students from the border area villages participated in the programme.
