The D3O material in its raw state flows freely when moved slowly, but on shock, locks together to absorb and disperse energy, before instantly returning to its flexible state.

This unique characteristic provides enhanced protection, while providing a versatile and flexible material that can be manufactured using a globally patented technology for a host of shock absorption and impact protective applications.

D3O manufactures this raw substance into practical functionality, as both a foam and non‑foam material.

In the footwear market, D3O is able to tune the materials to offer cushioning on impact and energy return at point of take off.

The D3O team is made up of engineers, chemists and designers, each with a wealth of experience in product development.

The counter‑intuitive nature of the unique technology means that D3O relies heavily on this expertise to ensure that every product that reaches the market place is ideally suited to the intended application.

Data is the foundation of everything D3O does. From concept design to the finished product, D3O always asks: “Is this fit for purpose?”.

Full-scale testing facilities enable new parts to be characterised and enhanced before being independently verified by technical testing partners.

Impact protection

A range of enhanced shock absorbing solutions that offer the ultimate in soft and flexible impact protection.

These solutions are developed for markets where high impact energies are experienced.

Comfort and cushioning

A range of soft, lightweight foams that offer enhanced cushioning and long term comfort.

D3O’s comfort and cushioning solutions are developed for markets where impact energies are typically lower and where other performance properties are the key considerations such as temperature stability, weight and downstream processing.

Footwear

A range of footwear materials ideally suited to any footwear application; from top of foot protection to underfoot performance and everything in between.

These solutions are developed for markets where impact energies are typical of walking, running or jumping.

D3O has created five grades of lightweight, high‑performance, temperature stable Lite by D3O, which see the experience and expertise in thermoset solutions transferred to a thermoformable offering.

Footwear

DECELL

Brings strain rate sensitivity to the athletic footwear market. Walk and the D3O Decell offers cushioning, remaining soft and flexible, but start running and the D3O reacts to each impact, providing the user shock absorption that traditional EVA’s can’t match.

MILICELL

A highly durable variety of underfoot material developed specifically for extreme markets such as the military sector.

PULSE

A footwear grade with impressive energy return capabilities that give impact energy back to the user at point of take off.

LITE

A grade of Lite developed specifically for use in the footwear market, bringing a lightweight smart material to underfoot applications.

Insoles

Consistent cushioning is one of the most important and overlooked properties in existing footwear solutions. D3O Decell has been designed specifically to maintain its cushioning properties even at the highest impact energies associated with running and jumping.

Combine that with structured support through geometry and a unique patented technology that reacts differently depending on the force of the impact and you have the ultimate in smart shock absorbing insoles.

Heel insert

D3O heel inserts can be made in any of D3O’s footwear materials to offer enhanced performance benefits.

Ankle guard

The D3O ankle guard offers enhanced protection. When integrated into appropriate footwear, the D3O ankle guard passes EN13634.

Strobel board

The D3O strobel board offers exceptional performance and is supplied in sheet form to be die cut by the customer.

Met guards

D3O met guards offer great protection and comfort in extreme temperatures. The addition of a breathable met guard with flexible hard shell allows even greater variety for any application.

When integrated into appropriate footwear, D3O met guards pass EN20345.
