CVS - ELECTRODE ARMWHY TO CHOOSE

-Can be installed on any AC EAF-Assuring well balanced symmetricelectric-Diminishing of interaction of magneticfields of different phases-Main tubular-conductor, made of

copper is advantageously locatedcoaxially in the tubular cavity of theelectrode arm.-Since it is totally protected, it ispractically maintenance free.-Conductors are cooled via maintubular conductor, thus eliminating

necessity of any seals.-Magnetic field confining shield is made from magnetic material, with high magneticpermeability.-No need for additional loop installed in centre electrode arm or delta closure, or costlyreactors on the primary side of the furnace transformer

CVS - ELECTRODE ARMCVS DES IGN OBJECTIVE

Main objective of CVSs electrode arm design is to consider maximum capacity oftransformer power to increase the productivity, because of higher current levels to beachieved.

Generally, total area is designed higher to have low resistivity yielding lower heat loss.

Arm geometry is considered not to have any magnetic field.

CVS always considers that allcurrent is passing through Copperpart of the arm even, in reality, onequarter of the current is passingthrough steel.

Electrod is holded in the arm withspring force and released bycylinder. All the parts in that area iscovered by special non-conductiveceramic.

    CVS - ELECTRODE ARMMANUFACTURING

Water-cooled, sturdy boxtype design withwelded internal reinforcements.

CVSs unique electrode head construction withspring suspension cuts maintenancetimes to the minimum.

20/8 Electrolytic Copper having more than 99% purity is used since it can carry morecurrent.

Steel and copper sheets are hot rolled andcontact points are welded with special material

to overcome the resistivity of connection.

    CVS - ELECTRODE ARMCONTACT POINTS

Since, the sharp edges/points create resistivityresulting heat, all equipments/ parts aremachined to get better contact points. Weldingcuts and all dimensions are carefully controlled toget better contacts of the equipments.

After all welding and other connections arecompleted, all surfaces are machined.

Special attention is given for connection points ofwater cooled secondary cables andcontact plate.

    CVS - ELECTRODE ARMISOLATION

There are 2 point for isolating the arm.-Between electrode and pense-In the flexible hose carrying water from arm topenseAdditionally, contact plate and connection boltsbetween arm and electrode column, isolationmaterials are used. All hoses on electrode armare are made from anti-magnetic materials thatwill not conduct electricity.

CVS - ELECTRODE ARMCOOLING WATER CIRCU IT

-Aim: to get maximum cooling effect in the outersurface of the arm.-Main purpose: to circulate water first in the bottompart.-At the middle of electrode arm, small amount of wateris passed.-Water circulation: Water enters from arm bottom partand path as contact plate, pense, upper part of thearm.-Cooling water quantity and piping design aims to getmaximum 45 C at the outlet.

CVS - ELECTRODE ARMDESIGN ADVANTAG ES

-The arm itself fabricated from copper cladded steel.

-The thickness of the copper cladding according to the current density.

    -The arm totally water cooled.

-Clamping device with cup springs and hydraulic cylinder inside conductor.

-High force to clamp electrodes, optimising availability and minimum maintenance.

-High regulation speeds with excellent active power input profiles.

-Power distribution equal on all three phases, adapted via secondary bus bar system.

-Low energy losses through utilization of the whole cross section of the arm with theadvantages of copper as a homogeneous conductive material.

-Tailor-made design, construction and commissioning of the electrode arm system toguarantee a stable operation.

CVS - ELECTRODE COLUMNCVS DES IGN OBJECTIVE

Electrode lifting columns are designed toresist ultra-high electrodynamic forces.

The columns are exposed to harsh ambientconditions: heat load, dust, slag and steelsplashes, radiation, electro-magnetic fields,

    mechan-ical stresses, vibrations and evenshocks.

Electrode lifting columns is able to performtheir task with little maintenance, and remaincapable of precise positioning.

It is designed to minimize the wear that'srelated to the columns and the rollers whilebeing able to readjust a possible wear gapquickly and easily.

    CVS - ELECTRODE COLUMNCVS ADVANTAGES

-Designed for an extended service lifeThe column's stable construction that features a water-cooled mast stool and well-protected movement cylinders typically guarantee more than five years' operation underextremely harsh conditions.

    -Reduced maintenance costs

The columns are extremely low-wear. Wear gaps, if any, may be easily and quicklyreadjusted. Roller bearings can be exchanged easily thus limiting downtimes.

-Shorter tap-to-tap timeThe possibility of a higher electrical power input allows the melting cycle to be speed upby as much as 15%.

-Improved productivityThanks to a faster positioning speed of up to 50%, the power off time can be reduced byup to 10%.

-It's possible to achieve an overall up to 12-15 % increase in productivity.

CVS - ELECTRODE COLUMNEASY M AINTENANCE

Our unique design allows for the use of only 8rollers per mast instead of 12 rollers, thusoffering the possibility of a significant reductionin cost-intensive wear and time-consumingmainte-nance for alignment.

The positioning of the columns outside thegantry bearing ring, makes the guide rollerseasily accessible.
