Previous Employment
Commission for Bath Literature Festival 2009, providing artwork for the “Poetry Taxi” street performance, introducing the general public to verse and prose. My proposal was to create life-size illustrated figures of the poets whose literature was featured in the festival. A selected group of designers created the figures from adhesive vinyl and MDF boards over ten days.
An extension of a project set by EatBigFish design consultants. The original brief was to create a short animation to visually interpret the story behind Oxo Good Grips Kitchen Utensils, and the difficulties of suffering from arthritis. This book was created from the storyboard, with a flexible black rubber cover in reference to the iconic design of a Good Grips tool.
The dossier is a catalogue of professional work and experience, everything from masterclasses and non-university related work to lecture and seminar notes.I gave my dossier a unique style by integrating my hand-drawn illustrations capturing these events. For example: on the right is an extract from book relating to a lecture by OK-RM, London.
Entry for the 2009 Penguin Book Cover Competition, a re-design of Donna Tartt’s novel “The Secret History”, a claustrophobic murder mystery set on an elite college campus in Vermont.
“The Krampus” was a children’s book based on a traditional Eastern German christmas story. It was part of a project set to introduce new customs and legends to the British christmas marketplace.
The piece was later entered in the Macmillan Children’s Book Prize 2009.
Shortly after finishing my course at Bath Spa University, I started a self initiated project in tribute of the Bath to Bristol cycle path. I made a series of 28 quick, on-location sketches along the route, which were later collected, edited, bound and sold at the Bath Spa Degree Show 2009.
A commission for illustrated beermats for the Old Mill Brewery in Snaith, East Riding.
The client wanted a series of 6 mats, loosely influenced by the work of Heath Robinson, an early 20th century cartoonist most commonly known for his drawings of mad contraptions and surreal inventions.
