Summer Camp 2013Once again we will be offering
week-long summer camps for
children aged 5-13. These half day
programs a great opportunity to try
something new!
Classes include tap, theatre, ballet,
jazz, contemporary, highland, irish,
and hip hop, and a performance is
put on for the parents at the end of
the week!

Cumbrae had 27 dancers at this
years Pulse & Camp Pulse events
in Toronto.
The weekend
was a great
success!
Students
learned
from a
variety of
professional
dancers and well-renowned
choreographers including faculty
from Glee and SYTYCD!
The Cumbrae School of
Dancing was awarded the
Studio Spirit Award in
recognition of our dancers,
teachers, and parents (many of
whom took the parent dance class!),
fantastic attitudes over the course of
the weekend. Additionally, Sydney
Maguire was recognized
with a Pop Starz
Rockstar award, and
Katie Over received a
Leadership Scholarship
to be used at The Pulse
next year. Many of our
senior students also
performed at The Pulse Showcase
event with group tap & jazz pieces.

Cumbrae AlumniMany of the students that have passed through
Cumbrae doors have gone on to do wonderful
things in the dance/arts community. From dancecompanies to the Broadway stage, Cumbrae
alumni are always making us proud!
This edition, we introduce to you...
CARLY SHERIDAN
Carly Sheridan has created for herself awonderful career in the arts community as a circus
and acrobatic performer. After high school, Carlyreceived an Honors B.F.A. in ContemporaryDance at Concordia. From there, she went on toperform and work with a variety of prominentinternational circus companies, most notably inCirque Du Soleils Varakei and at MGM Grandin Las Vegas. In 2008, Carly was a cast memberin the Broadway production of 'Cirque DreamsJungle Fantasy'. She has performed across Europe
in Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde (France),Cirkus Princessan (Sweden), and many otherfestivals and productions. Today, Carlychoreographs for performers from around theworld and has coached aerial arts at over half adozen circus schools in North America includingthe National Circus School of Canada and CirqueSchool Los Angeles. Carly shares her timebetween Las Vegas and Montreal but otherwise
travels wherever her work takes her.
CHEO ECHOES OFWINTER
A number of our senior balletstudents will be performing atthis years annual CheoFundraising event, Echoes of Winter Brilliant StarsShine on CHEO. The show will be held onSaturday, February 23rd, 2013 at CarletonUniversity and tickets can be purchased at KanataMusic Academy, or at Ottawa Music Academy.
CELEBRATE ST.PATRICKS DAY!
Some of Cumbraes Irishdancers will be performingfor St. Patricks Day on
March 16th at Resurrectionof our Lord Church for theKnights of Columbus.
There is to be an Irish feast and lots ofentertainment! Tickets are $30. Join us incelebrating the luck of the Irish!

Summer Dance Programs
Cumbrae highly recommends that our senior students pursue

ExaminationsCongratulations to senior students Andra Brabant, Emilie Brunet and
Katie Over on the achievement of R.A.D. Intermediate ballet inNovember 2012. With R.A.D. Graded exams, BATD exams, Irishexams, and further R.A.D. Vocational examinations coming up, we
