Cultural Participation and Research (C.P.R.) is aimed at making you more aware of the diverse world around you in hopes that you will grow to appreciate and learn from it. This will make speaking Spanish more meaningful to you and make the language come alive! Your task is to start noticing everything around you that has to do with Spanish and Latin American culture…musicians, actors, poets, authors, politicians, sports figures, music, food, art, traditions, sports, etc. If you see it, hear about it, read about it…I want to know and I want the class to know! This assignment is up to you. What you turn in to me will depend on what you uncovered or researched. It can be as simple as an article cut out of a newspaper with a brief written description, or it can be as complex as a presentation to the class on a famous artist (credit will vary depending upon the quality and extent of your work). My goal is to create an awareness of the world around us, especially the one that speaks Spanish! So turn on the radio, open a newspaper, watch TV, and keep your eyes and ears open…you can’t help but come in contact with “Latino fever”! All files/PowerPoints must be emailed to me before the presentation day. If you are absent or fail to present your project on the “turn-in day,” 5 points will be deducted from your grade, per day late. (CPR) Portfolio Description & Procedures

Learning a foreign language is not just about learning how to communicate. In order to truly grasp and

appreciate a language, it is also important to learn about the culture and the people that speak the language. As

we learn Spanish, it is easy to look around us and see evidence of both Spanish and Latin American culture

everywhere. Whether it be on the radio with artists like Shakira, Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias; on the movie

screen with Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, and Antonio Banderas, in sports with Lionel Messi & Albert Pujols,

and in many other areas of our daily lives, we have the opportunity to be surrounded by people that came from

interesting and exciting cultures other than our own. Cultural Participation and Research (C.P.R.) is aimed at

making you more aware of the diverse world around you in hopes that you will grow to appreciate and learn

from it. This will make speaking Spanish more meaningful to you and make the language come alive!

Your task is to start noticing everything around you that has to do with Spanish and Latin American

culture…musicians, actors, poets, authors, politicians, sports figures, music, food, art, traditions, sports, etc. If

you see it, hear about it, read about it…I want to know and I want the class to know! This assignment is up to

you. What you turn in to me will depend on what you uncovered or researched. It can be as simple as an article

cut out of a newspaper with a brief written description, or it can be as complex as a presentation to the class on a

famous artist (credit will vary depending upon the quality and extent of your work). My goal is to create an

awareness of the world around us, especially the one that speaks Spanish! So turn on the radio, open a

newspaper, watch TV, and keep your eyes and ears open…you can’t help but come in contact with “Latino fever”!
