Mimosa Concert Sydney Opera House On Thursday, 1

st

August 11 students travelled down to Sydney to perform at the annual Festival of Instrumental Music, which is held at the Opera House. They have spent the past 9 months working hard to learn 3 challenging pieces of music on the recorder. This year we had 1 student playing the Tenor recorder, 8 students playing the Descant 2 section and 2 students playing Descant 1 (a more advanced arrangement). We joined with 700 other musicians from public schools around the state for our performances. The students not only played spectacularly, they also represented our school with dignity and maturity, maintaining outstanding performance etiquette for the entire 20½ hours that they were on the stage. It has been a rewarding experience to be able to prepare these fine musicians for their performance on such an elite world stage. Mrs Lynn

Jeans for Genes Day Thank you to all the students who supported the Jeans for Genes Day fundraising effort last Friday. The Student Representative Council raised $516.50 which will be donated to The Children’s Medical Research Institute. Well done! Michelle Neaverson-Smith Principal

Whole School Waste Audit Guess how many pieces of plastic food packaging is thrown out EVERY day in our school? 1135 - yikes!!! Last week our school's Eco-Committee including 18 students and 5 teachers/parents conducted a whole school waste audit. This involved collecting all the rubbish from the classrooms, playgrounds, canteen and staffrooms that was generated in one day. The audit was an outstanding achievement by the team who all worked together to sort, weigh, record and clean up in great time. Over the coming weeks the students will be sharing the results with their class and are already developing ways to help our school community both REDUCE waste and RECYCLE more! YAY! The waste audit caught the attention of the Mudgee Guardian and ABC Western Plains who did a story and interview about our school! Great work Cudgee!

Kindy kids in the Garden And we’re off again for another term! We had a fresh crop of Cudgee students start Thursday lunchtime gardening last week. These students were elected from each class during Week 1 and form the Garden Club group for the second half of this year - taking us through Winter to Early Summer. Some Kindy kids are giving gardening a try too! For the next few weeks they will be tending the Sensory garden outside their classroom. If your child has started in the garden club and you'd like to visit one lunchtime, please do! Call or send a message to the Coordinator 0417 074 673. Find CVPS Kitchen Garden on Facebook and Instagram.
