There are times in our lives when we feel very con-fident and capable. In fact, because of our background and training, we think we can ac-

complish many things without the help of others. In other words, you can go it alone!

However, the Apostle Paul refers to two men who were helpful and valuable to him. Without their help, he would not have been successful.

Timothy, from the family Lois and Eunice, was one of those men. Paul considered him a “son in the ministry” (Philippians 2:22) and trusted him completely. He actually said, “I have no one like him”. What a great compliment!

The other man was Epaphroditus. We know little about him except for the fact

he was originally from Philippi whom Paul called a “brother, fellow worker, soldier, messenger, and minister”.

Both of these men received the highest compliments from Paul as well as his per-sonal recommendation.

We should note that even though Paul was a great missionary, church planter, writer, and spokesman for God, he needed others in his life. He was successful in carrying out the mission set before him with the aid of others, such as Timothy and Epaphrodi-tus, as well as assistance from Barnabas and Silas.

Everyone needs key people in our lives… someone to assist, encourage, bless, and even challenge us. As good as we may think we are, we cannot go it alone.

More importantly, you cannot make it without Jesus Christ in your life. He will be your best friend, confidant, and supporter. Jesus is the great forgiver and giver of life. There are times in your life you can go it alone, but be careful you do not step into eternity without Jesus.
