Limited warranty Quantronix new product

Statement of Warranty. Quantronix, Inc.’s, warranty obligations are limited to the terms set forth below: Quantronix (hereinafter referred to as the “Seller”) warrants that its new product is in accordance with Seller’s published

specifications (or those agreed upon with Buyer in writing) at the time of sale or lease and that it is free from non-cosmetic defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the date of sale or the commencement date under a written equipment lease or rental agreement (the “Warranty Period”). If a hardware

defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Seller will either (i) repair the hardware defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or (ii) exchange the product or defective

part(s) with a product or part(s) that are new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product or part, or (iii) refund the purchase price of the product after Buyer has returned the product to Seller. For purposes of this warranty agreement, “Buyer” shall mean and refer to (i)

the party which originally – whether from Seller directly, or from an authorized distributor, agent or reseller who is authorized by Seller – purchases, or leases under a written equipment lease or rental agreement, the Seller’s product

which is the subject of this warranty, or (ii) any subsequent purchaser or transferee that acquires valid title to the equipment within the Warranty Period.

In the event of the occurrence of a claim under this warranty, the Buyer shall have thirty (30) days to notify Seller in writing of the nature and specifics of the claimed defect; provided, however, that any and all claims must be received before the expiration of the Warranty Period. Failure to notify Seller within such time period shall void this warranty. Any claim of a warrantied defect is subject to inspection and analysis by Seller, prior to and/or after Buyer ships the

product to Seller, to conclusively identify or confirm the nature and cause of failure and application of this warranty. In the event that the defect or damage is excluded from warranty the Seller may at its option either (i) provide Buyer with a quote to make any such repairs or replacements which are not covered under this warranty, or (ii) give Buyer twenty

(20) days to pay for return shipping and upon receipt return the product to Buyer. If Buyer fails to pay for return shipping after twenty (20) days’ notice and after repairs are made or warranty coverage is determined not applicable,

Seller may dispose of or scrap the product.

This is a factory warranty and any defective components, mechanical or electrical, will be repaired or replaced, at the discretion and authorization of Seller, at Seller’s facilities in Utah. It shall be the Buyer’s responsibility to return the faulty equipment or components to Seller at Buyer’s expense as well as pay for all return shipping. All replaced or exchanged parts becomes property of Seller. Buyer shall first receive written confirmation to ship the product before sending it. Written confirmation to ship is not a guarantee that the defect or damage to the product is covered by this warranty. Seller is not obligated to pay for labor, material, or service charges involved in the removal, return, or installation of

equipment or components. Seller reserves the right to incorporate improvements in material and design of its products without notice and is not obligated to incorporate the same improvements in equipment previously

manufactured.

Exclusions and Limitations. This limited one (1) year warranty is applicable exclusively to original equipment products and components that were manufactured by Seller. Seller also warrants its replacement parts, subject to the terms and conditions set forth herein, for the lesser period of ninety (90) days from the date of delivery or until the expiration of

the original warranty, whichever is greater. Seller does not warrant, for any purpose, any external accessories, or integrated parts, including but not limited to computers, controllers and/or barcode scanners, that are manufactured

by another manufacturer and sold under a separate label, even if they are packaged or sold with Seller’s product. Seller’s obligation and liability under this warranty is expressly limited to repair or replacement (at its option) of the

warrantied equipment or components within the Warranty Period. A purchase by Buyer of equipment that it had first leased or rented shall not start a new Warranty Period. Seller does not warrant that the operation of the product will be

uninterrupted or error-free.

This warranty shall not apply to equipment or components which has/have:

1.Been the subject of an accident, or repairs or modifications attempted or made and not authorized by Seller.2.Been used with incompatible products.3.Been operated under abnormal conditions, excessive heat or cold, highly corrosive environments, or in an unintended manner.4.Not been operated or maintained in accordance with Seller’s instructions.5.Been subject to misuse or abuse, negligent handling, improper installation, accident, damage by fire, flood, snow, ice, water or other liquid damage, lightning, abnormal electrical condition and/or power surge, earthquake, or other act of God or events outside of Sellers control.6.Had serial numbers altered, defaced or removed.7.Been operated beyond capacity.

8.Not been manufactured by Seller including parts, accessories, or components which have been integrated into, used alongside of, or in conjunction with a product manufactured by Seller.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS WARRANTY AND THE REMEDIES SET FORTH ABOVE ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, REMEDIES AND CONDITIONS, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, STATUTORY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, SELLER SPECIFICALLY

DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTIES AGAINST

HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS. IF SELLER CANNOT LAWFULLY DISCLAIM STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES THEN TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALL SUCH WARRANTIES SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE

DURATION OF THIS EXPRESS WARRANTY AND TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT SERVICE AS DETERMINED BY SELLER IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION. This statement sets forth the full extent of Seller’s liability for breach of any warranty

or deficiency in connection with the sale or use of the product. No employee, representative or reseller of Seller is authorized to change this warranty in any way or grant any other warranty.

EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN THIS WARRANTY AND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SELLER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES

RESULTING FROM ANY BREACH OF WARRANTY OR CONDITION, OR UNDER ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF USE; LOSS OF REVENUE; LOSS OF ACTUAL OR ANTICIPATED

BUYER WAIVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK TOTAL COMBINED DAMAGES FROM SELLER IN EXCESS TO

THAT WHICH WAS PAID TO SELLER AND SELLER SHALL BE LIMITED FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THIS WARRANTY TO BE NO MORE THAN WHAT WAS PAID TO SELLER FOR THE NEW PRODUCT.

This section describes the diagnostics procedures for the Cubiscan 325. This chapter is divided into the following sections:

Booting process errorsThis section describes the various booting process errors that can occur with the Cubiscan 325. Refer to the following sections for more information.

Failure in initialization process Review the following information if there is a failure in the initialization process when the Cubiscan 325 is turned on.

Initialization fileThis process may fail if the SD card is missing or fails to load a needed file. Complete the following steps if the initialization file process fails.

Note Upon initialization failure, the Cubiscan 325 will use default settings. This may impact calibration.

1. Tap Menu > Units on the Cubiscan 325 touchscreen. Temporarily change any of the settings on this screen to force the SD card to write.

2. Reboot the Cubiscan 325. Continue on to the next step if rebooting the system doesn’t work.

3. Verify that an SD card is installed. The SD card is located in the controller box. Remove the SD card and make sure that the param.txt file is installed. For instructions on removing the SD card, see “Updating the Firmware” on page 19.

4. Try using a new SD card (2-4 GB, standard or HC) with factory default parameter files.

5. If, after completing the above steps, the initialization file process still fails, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Reading gateThis process may be delayed and read DONE instead of PASS if the Cubiscan 325 fails to detect gate board(s). Complete the following steps if the reading gate process reads DONE.

1. Make sure that the gate power cable is securely connected.

2. Make sure the gate ribbon cable(s) are connected.

3. Reboot the Cubiscan 325.

If, after completing the above steps, the reading gate process still fails, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Initializing scaleThis process may fail if the Cubiscan 325 cannot communicate with the scale card. Complete the following steps if the initializing scale process fails.

1. Make sure that all controller box cables are securely connected.

2. Make sure that all load cell summing box cables are securely connected.

3. Reboot the Cubiscan 325.

4. Check to see if a scale card is present.

5. Is the LED light on the scale card lit?

6. If, after completing the above steps, the initializing scale process is still failing, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Initializing lookupIf this process fails contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Initializing EthernetThis process may fail if the Cubiscan 325 fails to connect to Ethernet. Ethernet settings can be configured under Menu > Configure > Ethernet. This may fail in DHCP mode. (This will fail if no cable is connected.)

1. Make sure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends.

2. Try plugging your Ethernet cable into a network switch (instead of the Cubiscan) if possible. This will help you know if you have a faulty Ethernet connection or not.

3. Check the Ethernet cable LED’s where they connect at the controller box. One light will be green and the other will be strobing yellow if the Ethernet connection is functioning properly.

4. Contact your IT support.

Failure to turn on Complete the following steps if the Cubiscan 325 fails to turn on when the power switch is turned to the On position.

1. Is the power cable connected to both the Cubiscan 325 and a working outlet? If the Cubiscan 325 is mobile, is the portable power supply turned on?

2. Is the power switch in the ON position?

3. Is the touchscreen displaying a white screen? If so, go to step 6.

4. Is the display cable securely plugged into the controller box and display?

5. Check the fuses. The fuse drawer is located next to the power switch.

6. Try temporarily removing the SD card and booting in default mode.

7. Update the firmware. For information on how to do this, see “Updating the Firmware” on page 19.

8. If, after completing the above steps, the Cubiscan 325 will not turn on, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Dimensional errorsThis section describes the various dimensional errors that can occur with the Cubiscan 325. Refer to the following sections for more information.

Inconsistent measurement readings Complete the following steps if you are receiving inconsistent measurement readings.

1. Make sure that the object you are measuring is not clear or transparent. The Cubiscan 325 can only measure objects that are opaque.

2. Does the object you are measuring have a rigid shape? If the object that you are measuring does not have a rigid, stable shape (such as clothing) then it is able to change shape. Measurements taken after an object has changed shape will reflect the current state of that object.

3. If there are any invalid yellow shapes in your measurement results, refer to “Invalid yellow shapes in measurement results” on page 6. If there are no invalid yellow shapes in your measurement results, continue on to step 2.

4. Measure the calibration cube in different orientations multiple times to check for dimensioning accuracy. If the Cubiscan 325 reports roughly the same measurements each time, the Cubiscan 325 is measuring accurately. If the Cubiscan 325 is not reporting consistent readings, continue on to the next step.

5. If the gate movement isn’t smooth, the carriage assemblies that guide gate movement may need to be adjusted or replaced. For instructions on how to do this, see “Replacing/Adjusting Carriage Assemblies” on page 48.

6. If, after completing the above steps, you are still receiving inconsistent measurement readings, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801-451-7000.

Incorrect height measurement Complete the following steps if you are receiving incorrect height measurements.

1. Clean all four gate filters with a clean, damp (if needed), microfiber cloth. Use water to dampen the cloth; do not clean the gate filters with a solvent as this could cause damage.

2. Make sure that all the controller box cables are securely attached.

3. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. The threshold and sensitivity values are listed for the width and height. The threshold values should be between 450 and 700. The sensitivity values should be 100. If your values are incorrect, run an automatic threshold test. When this test is run the Cubiscan 325 finds the top and bottom limits and automatically picks the best values. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan 325 and then tap ALL. Make sure the platform is empty of all objects. This test will take several minutes. Do not touch the gate during this test.

4. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. This screen displays the current status of the LED beams. Move the gate to the center of the glass platform and clear the platform of all objects. If the LED beam bars show yellow, continue on to the next step.

5. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate (Page 2 of 3). From this screen, you can run a masking test to mask LED’s that may be malfunctioning. You should only run this test if 3 or less of the LED’s are not working. Do not run the masking test if a large amount of yellow is displayed on the LED beam bars. If too many LED’s are masked, the Cubiscan 325 will not be able to measure objects. To run the masking test, start with the gate in the home position (right side) and slowly move it all the way to the left, and back into the home position. Tap Mask.

6. If, after completing the above steps, you are still receiving incorrect height measurements, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Item exceeds boundary Complete the following steps if you are receiving the item exceeds boundary error message.

1. Yellow specks or lines often occur when there is dust or debris on the glass platform. Clean both sides of the glass with a clean, damp cloth. You can use small amounts of glass cleaner to clean the glass if necessary, making sure that the glass cleaner does NOT come into contact with the gate filters. If glass cleaner comes into contact with the gate filters they may need to be replaced. If your glass is scratched it may interfere with measurements. Contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000 if you need to order a replacement glass platform.

2. Clean all four gate filters with a clean, damp (if needed), microfiber cloth. Use water to dampen the cloth; do not clean the gate filters with a solvent as this could cause damage.

3. Although rare, does your facility have any type of unusual lighting? If so, try moving the Cubiscan 325 to a different location with different lighting.

4. Are there invalid yellow shapes in your measurement results? If so, refer to “Invalid yellow shapes in measurement results” on page 6.

5. Does the object you are measuring exceed or not meet the measurement range? The measurement range for the Cubiscan 325 is 0.10 in (0.2 cm) to 36.00 x 24.00 x 24.0 0 in (90.0 x 60.0 x 60.0 cm).

6. Is the item you are measuring placed roughly in the center of the glass platform? The edges of the glass platform may interfere with the measuring process when objects are placed too close to the edge.

7. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. The threshold and sensitivity values are listed for the width and height. The threshold values should be between 450 and 700. The sensitivity values should be 100. If your values are incorrect, run an automatic threshold test. When this test is run the Cubiscan 325 finds the top and bottom limits and automatically picks the best values. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan 325 and then tap ALL. Make sure the platform is empty of all objects. This test will take several minutes. Do not touch the gate during this test.

8. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate (Page 2 of 3). From this screen, you can run a masking test to mask LED’s that may be malfunctioning. Invalid yellow shapes in measurement results There are generally two types of invalid yellow shapes that can occur in measurement results; yellow specks or lines, or a large amount of yellow in the measurement area. Examples of these are shown below. Refer to the appropriate section below according to the type of yellow shape that is being displayed in the measurement results.

Yellow specks or linesComplete the following steps to eliminate yellow specks or lines that appear in measurement results.

5. Try enabling the Cubiscan filter mode to eliminate any debris that is interfering with measurements. To enable filter mode, go to Menu > Configure > Operation. Enable the Filter Mode checkbox. This will cause the Filter mode option to be enabled on the Home screen, where you can enable or disable it easily. Filter Mode only measures the largest item detected on the platform.

Large amounts of yellowComplete the following steps to eliminate large amounts of yellow that appear in measurement results.

1. Clean all four gate filters with a clean, damp (if needed), microfiber cloth. Use water to dampen the cloth; do not clean the gate filters with a solvent as this could cause damage.

2. Make sure that all the controller box cables are securely attached.

3. Check the light on the transmitter or receive boards. See “PART REPLACEMENT” on page 26 for instructions on removing gate covers. The light is located about halfway up the board on the left side. If this light is not lit, the board is not receiving power.

4. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. The threshold and sensitivity values are listed for the width and height. The threshold values should be between 450 and 700. The sensitivity values should be 100. If your values are incorrect, run an automatic threshold test. When this test is run the Cubiscan 325 finds the top and bottom limits and automatically picks the best values. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan 325 and then tap ALL. Make sure the platform is empty of all objects. This test will take several minutes. Do not touch the gate during this test.

Gate movement errorsThis section describes the various gate movement errors that can occur with the Cubiscan 325. Refer to the following sections for more information.

Gate cursor not moving Complete the following steps if the green gate cursor does not follow the gate’s movements.

1. Make sure that the green LED encoder light is lit.

2. Check the encoder cable and make sure it is securely attached at both ends of the cable. If doing this does not correct the problem, continue on to step 3.

3. Check the encoder magnetic strip and see if it is visibly damaged or peeled up. Contact Cubiscan at 801.451.7000 if you need a replacement part.

4. Check the gap between the encoder and the magnetic strip. They should be as close as possible without actually touching. Adjust the encoder if needed.

5. Go to Menu > Diagnostics > Encoder. The encoder value should read 0000 when the gate is in the home position. Move the gate all the way to the left and back into the home position. If the encoder value does not change, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Gate cursor out of box Complete the following steps if the green gate cursor is out of the box.

1. When the Cubiscan 325 reboots, make sure that it declares “Cubiscan 325 Ready” after all the files have been initialized. If it declares “Cubiscan 125 Ready,” the wrong Cubiscan may be selected in the firmware.

2. If, after completing the above step, the gate cursor is still not functioning, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Gate speed warning The gate speed warning message is displayed if the gate is moved too fast to obtain a measurement reading. The gate must be moved at a moderate speed to obtain accurate measurement results.

Irregular gate movement Complete the following steps if the gate movement is wobbly or uneven.

1. Make sure that the two tracks that control the gate movement are free of debris. Because the carriers are self-lubricating there should be a lubricant on the tracks. Only the debris should be removed from the track.

2. Make sure that no cables or objects are impeding the movement of the gate.

3. The carriage assemblies that control gate movement may need to be adjusted or replaced. For instructions on how to do this, see “Replacing/Adjusting Carriage Assemblies” on page 48.

4. If, after completing the above steps, the gate does not move smoothly, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Return gate to home error Complete the following steps if the return gate to home error occurs when the gate is in the home position (right side of the Cubiscan 325). When the Cubiscan 325 is turned on the gate must be in the home position.

1. Make sure that the home indicator is lit and the gate is in the home position.

2. Check the proximity sensor light. This is a little red light on top of the sensor. If this light is out, the cable may be loose or disconnected. Check the cable and make sure it is securely connected at both ends. If the light still does not light, the proximity sensor may need to be replaced. If the Cubiscan 325 is off this light will also be off.

3. Check the green encoder light. If this light is out, the cable may be loose or disconnected. Check the cable and make sure it is securely connected at both ends. If the light still does not light, the encoder may need to be replaced. If the Cubiscan 325 is off this light will also be off.

Miscellaneous errorsThis section describes miscellaneous errors that can occur with the Cubiscan 325. Refer to the following sections for more information.

Frozen or not functioning Complete the following steps if the Cubiscan 325 is not functioning or frozen.

1. Turn the Cubiscan 325 off and allow power to drain for at least 20 seconds. Turn the Cubiscan 325 back on.

2. If cycling the power does not correct the problem, power the Cubiscan 325 off and remove the SD card. The SD card is located in the controller box, to remove the SD card complete the following:

–Make sure the Cubiscan 325 is turned off.–Move the gate to the left side.–Remove the two center cover thumb screws that are located on the right side of the system.–Slide the center cover to the left so that you can access the controller.–Use a 5/64 Allen wrench to remove the 14 screws holding the controller box lid in place.–Remove the controller box lid.–Locate the SD card and briefly remove it.–Power the Cubiscan on without the SD card. If the Cubiscan works and is not frozen, you need a replacement SD card. If the Cubiscan is still not functioning, power it off again and continue on to the next step.

–Replace the SD card.–Secure the controller box lid with the 14 screws.–Turn the Cubiscan 325 back on.

3. Update the firmware. For information on how to do this, see “Updating the Firmware” on page 19.

4. If, after completing the above steps, the Cubiscan 325 is still frozen or not functioning, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Ready indicator not lighting The ready indicator will light after the Cubiscan 325 has completed the booting process. If this indicator does not light, contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Touchscreen is not functioning Complete the following steps if the touchscreen is frozen, behaving erratically, or responding poorly.

1. Reboot the Cubiscan 325.

2. Make sure the display cable is securely plugged in at both ends.

3. Is the touchscreen surface damaged? If the touchscreen is damaged, you may require a replacement part. Contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000 to obtain a replacement part.

4. Calibrate the touchscreen.

5. Temporarily remove the SD card. For instructions on how to remove the SD card, see “Updating the Firmware” on page 19. You may not need to update the firmware, first try simply removing the card for a moment. If doing this does not correct the problem, continue on to step 6 below.

6. Update the firmware using the serial method. For information on how to do this, see “Updating firmware via a serial connection” on page 20.

7. Check the touchscreen to circuit board wires. If any of these wires are damaged or pinched you may need a replacement touchscreen. Refer to Figure 4 below.

8. If, after completing the above steps, the touchscreen is still not responding, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Scale errorsThis section describes the various scale errors that can occur with the Cubiscan 325. Refer to the following sections for more information.

Dashes in weight field Review the following information if there are dashes in the weight field. The location of the dashes is important.

Bottom dashes Dashes in the bottom of the weight field mean that the scale is reading less than zero. If you have dashes appearing in the bottom of the weight field, complete the following steps:

–Make sure that there are no fans blowing air onto the Cubiscan 325. The scale is sensitive and moving air can affect scale readings.

–If there is no air interfering with the Cubiscan 325, proceed to step 1 below.

Middle dashesDashes in the middle of the weight field mean that the scale cannot find a stable reading. If you have dashes appearing in the middle of the weight field, complete the following steps:

–Middle dashes can sometimes mean that there is no communication with the scale. To verify that the Cubiscan 325 is communicating with the scale, go to Menu > Diagnose > Scale. If there is no communication with the scale the Wgt field will display No Com. If there is no communication with the load cells the Wgt field will display NoLC.If you receive No Com–Check the cable connections from the summing box to the controller.–Check and see if the scale card LED is lit. If it is not lit, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000 for a replacement part. If you receive No LC–Make sure all the individual load cell wires are connected in the summing box.

–Make sure that there are no fans blowing air onto the Cubiscan 325. The scale is sensitive and moving air can affect scale readings.

–If there is no air interfering with the Cubiscan 325, proceed to step 1 below.

Top dashesDashes in the top of the weight field mean that the scale is reading over the scale limit.

–Make sure that there are no objects on the platform, especially objects that weigh over the weight limit of 50 lb.

–Go to Menu > Diagnose > Scale. Compare the LDW and LWT values. If they are the same or very similar, recalibrate the scale. Move on to the next step if this does not resolve your problem.

–If the scale is still not functioning properly, proceed to step 1 below.

Complete the following steps if there are still dashes in the weight field.

1. Make sure that the glass platform is securely in place.

2. Make sure that there are no objects on or leaning against the glass platform.

3. Make sure that all the controller box cables are securely attached.

4. Make sure that all load cell summing box cables are securely attached.

5. Make sure the scale card is in the load cell summing box.

6. Check the gap between the scale overload bolts. There should be about a 2mm gap between the bolts. If needed, adjust the bottom bolt with a wrench.

7. Make sure that there are no objects on the platform and zero the Cubiscan 325 by tapping the Zero button that is found on the main screen. If an accurate weight is not displayed in the weight field, continue on to the next step.

8. Calibrate the scale. For instructions on how to do this, see “Scale Calibration” on page 13.

9. If, after completing the above steps, there are still dashes in the weight field, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Different load cells report different weights Complete the following steps if the load cells are reporting different weights in each corner.

1. Make sure the glass platform is sitting on all four load cells and is level; adjust the feet located in each corner if needed.

2. Make sure that no ball bearings have been lost. There should be one in each load cell cup.

3. Calibrate the scale. For more information on calibrating the scale, see “Scale Calibration” on page 13.

4. Balance the load cells. For more information, see “Balancing the Load Cells” on page 23.

5. If, after completing the above steps, the load cells are still reporting different weights, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

No zero indicator Complete the following steps if the zero indicator is not lighting.

1. Make sure that the glass platform is free of all objects.

2. Make sure that there are no objects on or leaning against the glass platform.

3. Make sure the glass platform is securely in place.

4. Verify that no vibration or air movement (fans) is affecting the Cubiscan 325.

5. Check the gap between the scale overload bolts. There should be about a 2mm gap between the bolts. If needed, adjust the bottom bolt with a wrench.

6. Make sure that all the controller box cables are securely attached.

7. Make sure that all load cell summing box cables are securely attached.

8. Zero the Cubiscan 325 by tapping the Zero button that is found on the main screen. When you zero the Cubiscan 325, make sure the platform is free of all objects.

9. If the zero indicator will still not light, calibrate the scale. For information on calibrating the scale, see “Scale Calibration” on page 13.

10. If, after completing the above steps, the zero indicator is still not lighting, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

CHAPTER 2SCALE CALIBRATION

To calibrate the Cubiscan 325 scale, you will need an official test weight up to 50 pounds (25 kg) (it is recommended that you calibrate with the maximum weight).

IMPORTANT: Do not begin scale calibration until you have the test weight. Calibrating without an accurate known weight (within 0.01 of a lb/kg) can make all future weight readings inaccurate.

When calibrating the scale, the Cubiscan 325 must be stable with no movement of the platform such as that caused by vibration or air movement.

Scale calibration

Take the following steps to calibrate the Cubiscan 325 scale.

1. At the home screen, tap MENU.

2. Tap CALIBRATE. Select the Scale option if it is not already selected. Make sure the weight and weight units displayed are correct for the test weight you are using. Tap Next to begin the scale calibration. You can change your units from lbs to kgs under MENU > CONFIGURE > Units.

5. Tap Next to continue.

6. You have finished calibrating the scale. Tap HOME to return to the home screen or if you would like to try calibrating the scale again, tap Next.

CHAPTER 3CLEANING

This section describes the procedure used to clean the Cubiscan 325. The Cubiscan 325 should be cleaned as often as needed to maintain optimum performance.

Cleaning the Gate FiltersThis section describes how to clean the gate filters. While dust won’t normally interfere with operation, they should be cleaned routinely to prevent the possibility of interference.

To clean the gate filters, use a clean, damp (if needed), microfiber cloth. Use water to dampen the cloth; do not clean the gate filters with a solvent as this could cause damage.

Cleaning the Glass PlatformThis section describes how to clean the glass platform.

To clean the glass platform, remove it from the Cubiscan 325. Clean both sides of the platform thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth. You can use small amounts of glass cleaner to clean the glass if necessary, making sure that the glass cleaner does NOT come into contact with the gate filters. If glass cleaner comes into contact with the gate filters they may need to be replaced.

If the glass platform is scratched it may interfere with measurements. Remove the glass platform and try measuring. If this resolves the problem, you may need a new glass platform. If you need to order a new platform, please contact Cubiscan Technical Assistance at 801.451.7000.

Cleaning the TouchscreenThis section describes how to clean the touchscreen.

To clean the touchscreen, moisten a soft cloth with water, then gently wipe the screen clean with the cloth. Do not spray liquid directly on the touchscreen.

CHAPTER 4UPDATING THE FIRMWARE

This section describes the procedures used to update the firmware for the Cubiscan 325. There are two common methods used, updating the firmware via the SD card or a serial connection. You should use the serial connection method when the firmware or touchscreen is malfunctioning. Both methods are described below.

Updating firmware via the SD cardThis section describes how to update the Cubiscan 325’s firmware using the SD card.

Items needed–5/64 Allen wrench–CS325.bin file

Complete the following steps to update the firmware withthe SD card.1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Move the gate to the left side.

3. Remove the two center cover thumb screws that are located on the right side of the system. See Figure 8.

4. Slide the center cover to the left so that you can access the controller.

5. Using the Allen wrench, remove the 14 screws holding the controller box lid in place. Refer to Figure 9.

6. Remove the controller box lid.

7. To allow the firmware to be updated, you will need to move a jumper. Move the jumper indicated in Figure 10 from the Protected mode to the Write mode.

8. Remove the SD card indicated in Figure 11.

9. Insert the SD card into your PC and copy the provided CS325.bin onto the SD card. This new file will replace any previous existing versions of the CS325.bin file.

10. Remove the SD card from the PC and return it to its slot.

11. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

12. Go to MENU > Configure > Other. Select the correct bin file and tap Update Firmware.

13. The Cubiscan 325 will take several moments to update the firmware. Do not power off the Cubiscan while the firmware is being updated, this may damage circuit boards.

14. Once the Cubiscan reports Firmware Update Complete, tap Reset. The Cubiscan will reboot with the new firmware.

15. Move the jumper back to the Protected mode. Moving the jumper to the Protected mode will prevent the firmware file from being lost.

16. Replace the controller box lid and screws.

17. Slide the center cover back into place and tighten the thumb screws.

18. To confirm the new firmware update, see “Checking the firmware version” on page 22.

Updating firmware via a serial connectionThis section describes how to update the Cubiscan 325’s firmware using a serial connection.

Complete the following steps to update the firmware using a serial connection.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Remove the two center cover thumb screws that are located on the right side of the system. See Figure 12.

3. Slide the center cover to the left so that you can access the controller.

4. Using the Allen wrench, remove the 14 screws holding the controller box lid in place. Refer to Figure 8.

5. Remove the controller box lid.

6. To allow the firmware to be updated, you will need to move two jumpers. The first jumper is located near the SD card. Refer to Figure 14. Move the jumper from the Exec mode to the Kernel mode.

7. Move the second jumper from the Protected mode to the Write mode. Refer to Figure 15.

8. Connect the USB to serial adapter to the PC.

9. Connect one end of the RS-232 cable to the adapter and the other end to the back of the Cubiscan 325 controller.

10. On your computer, open the CS125Downloader.exe.

11. Navigate to the CS125Downloader.exe folder using the Directory.

12. Select CS325.bin from the Files window.

13. Select the port that the adapter is connected to.

14. Power the Cubiscan 325 on. If you are connected correctly, the kernel version will be displayed in the message box.

15. Click Program. The application will now program the motherboard. When the firmware is done loading it will then go through the verification process. This

process is indicated by asterisks. You must wait until this process is finished.

16. When the verification process has finished, power the Cubiscan 325 down.

17. Move the jumper back to the Protected mode.

18. Move the jumper back to the Exec mode.

19. Replace the controller lid and the screws.

20. Slide the center cover back into place and tighten the thumb screws.

21. Restart the Cubiscan 325.

22. To confirm the new firmware update, see “Checking the firmware version” below.

Checking the firmware versionThis section describes how to check the version of firmware that the Cubiscan 325 is using.

1. Go to MENU > About > Version. The Main field displays which version of firmware is being used.

CHAPTER 5BALANCING THE LOAD CELLS

This section describes the procedure used to balance the load cells of the Cubiscan 325.

Balancing the load cellsThis section describes how to balance the Cubiscan 325’s load cells.

Items needed –Small flathead screwdriver–5/64'' Allen wrench–25 lb weight (it is recommended that the maximum weight is used)–Paper –Pencil

Complete the following steps to balance the load cells. Balanced load cells report the same weight. There are four load cells located at each corner of the Cubiscan 325. To balance the load cells the Cubiscan 325 must be on.

1. Make sure that there is no air blowing on the Cubiscan 325, as this can disrupt the balancing process.

2. Zero the scale by tapping the Zero button located on the main screen.

3. On the Cubiscan 325’s touchscreen, go to MENU > Diagnostics > Scale. This screen will display the current weight in the Wgt field.

4. Remove the two center cover thumb screws that are located on the right side of the system. See Figure 1.

5. Slide the center cover to the left so that you can access the load cell summing box.

6. Remove the eight screws holding the load cell summing board lid in place and remove the lid. Refer to Figure 13.

7. To balance the load cells you will need to adjust the variable resistors, which are also known as potentiometers or POT’s. To adjust a POT, use the small flathead screwdriver to rotate the screw. See Figure 14.

Rotating a POT clockwise will increase the added weight from a load cell.

Rotating a POT counterclockwise will decrease the added weight from a load cell.

Adjusting a POT will affect the other 3 POT readings.

The goal is to have all four corners display the same weight value.

If you are ever adjusting a POT and hear a quiet clicking, or notice that the weight value is not changing when you make adjustments, you will need to center that particular POT. Center the POT by turning it at least 25 times in the same direction. Then turn the POT the opposite direction 12 times. The POT should now be centered.

8. Place the 25 lb weight on each corner of the Cubiscan 325. Record all four values. Figure 15 shows which Cubiscan 325 corner (where the load cells are located) corresponds with each POT.

9. Choose the two corners that are closest to 25 lb. These will be your first and second corners. Move the weight back and forth between them. Adjust the appropriate POT until the displayed weight values for both corners are the same (this does not necessarily need to be exactly 25 lb).

10. Choose your third corner. Move the weight back and forth between corners one and three. Adjust the POT’s until the same weight value is displayed for all three of your selected corners.

11. Now move the weight to the fourth corner. Move the weight back and forth between corners one and four. Adjust the POT for corner four until the displayed weight values are the same for each corner.

12. When all four corners read approximately the same weight, the load cells are balanced.

13. Replace the load cell summing box lid and screw it into place.

14. Slide the center cover back into place and tighten the thumb screws.

15. When everything has been replaced and the load cells have been balanced, you need to recalibrate the scale. For instructions on calibrating the scale, see “Scale Calibration” on page 13.

Replacing a fuseThis section describes how to replace a fuse on the Cubiscan 325.

Items needed –Replacement fuse

Complete the following steps to replace a fuse.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Disconnect the power cord from the Cubiscan 325.

3. The fuse drawer is located next to the power switch. Open the fuse drawer by pushing the top and bottom tabs simultaneously.

4. Remove the old fuse and replace it with the new fuse.

6. Reconnect the power cord.

Replacing a height receiver boardThis section describes how to replace the height receiver board on the Cubiscan 325.

Items needed –Regular and small Phillips screwdriver–Replacement height receiver board

Complete the following steps to replace a height receiver board. The height receiver boards are the boards located on the front side of the gate.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Remove the six screws shown in Figure 16 and then remove the gate cover.

3. There are two height receiver boards that can be replaced, the top and bottom board. Make sure you replace the correct board.

4. Disconnect the ribbon cables by simultaneously pushing the tabs located on each end of the connector outwards. The ribbon connectors are shown in Figure 17.

5. Disconnect the power cables, indicated in Figure 18.

6. Using the small Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the six screws holding the transmitter board in place.

7. Carefully remove the damaged board and replace it with the new board. Handle the board with care; the LED’s are fragile and can be broken. Make sure you orient the board correctly, with the power connector in the bottom-left corner.

8. Screw the replacement board into place.

9. Important! Make sure that the jumper is set to the 4 position for the top board or the 3 position for the bottom board. See Figure 19.

10. Reattach the power cable and transmit ribbon, as indicated in Figure 17 and Figure 18. Make sure the transmit ribbon has been firmly locked into place, with both tabs securely snapped.

11. Replace the gate cover and screw it into place.

12. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

13. You now need to run a threshold test. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan and then tap ALL. This test will take several minutes to complete.

14. Your Cubiscan should now be functioning normally.

Replacing a height transmitter boardThis section describes how to replace a height transmitter board on the Cubiscan 325.

Items needed –Regular and small Phillips screwdriver–Replacement height transmitter board

Complete the following steps to replace a height transmitter board. The height transmitter board is located on the back side of the gate, the opposite side of the touchscreen display.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Remove the six screws shown in Figure 20 and then remove the gate cover.

3. There are two height transmitter boards that can be replaced, the top and bottom board. Make sure you replace the correct board.

4. Disconnect the ribbon cables by simultaneously pushing the tabs located on each end of the

connectors outwards. These ribbon connectors are indicated in Figure 21.

5. Disconnect the two power cables, indicated in Figure 22.

6. Unscrew the six screws holding the board in place, using the small Phillips screwdriver.

7. Carefully remove the damaged board and replace it with the new receiver board. Handle the board with care; the LED’s are fragile and can be broken. Make sure you orient the board correctly, with the power connectors in the bottom-left corner.

8. Screw the replacement board into place.

9. Reattach the power cables and receive ribbons, as indicated in Figure 21 and Figure 22. Make sure the ribbon cables have been firmly locked into place, with both tabs securely snapped.

10. Replace the gate cover and screw it into place.

11. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

12. You now need to run a threshold test. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan and then tap ALL. This test will take several minutes to complete.

13. Your Cubiscan should now be functioning normally.

PART REPLACEMENT Replacing a width transmitter board

Complete the following steps to replace a width transmitter board. The width transmitter boards are located at the bottom of the gate.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. You will need to remove the back gate cover to access this board. Remove the six screws shown in Figure 21 and then remove the gate cover.

3. Unplug the bottom power cable from the height transmitter board located at the back of the Cubiscan.

4. Remove the two screws shown in Figure 24 on the front of the gate so that the gate tray can slide out.

5. Start sliding the gate tray out slowly from the back of the gate. Handle the gate tray gently to avoid damaging additional boards. Make sure that no cables are being caught. If needed, remove the front gate cover to make sure that no cables are caught on the sliding tray.

6. As you keep pulling the tray out, unplug the two ribbon cables that are connected on the underside of the tray.

7. When you have pulled the tray out completely, flip it over to show the green sides of the boards.

8. There are two width transmitter boards that can be replaced. Make sure you replace the correct board.

9. Unplug the two power cables and set them aside.

10. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws holding the board to the metal frame.

11. Use the nut driver to remove the six nuts holding the damaged board to the sliding tray.

12. Remove the board and replace it with the new board. Handle the board with care; the LED’s are fragile and can be broken. Make sure you orient the board correctly, with the power connectors towards the back of the Cubiscan.

13. Use the six screws and nuts to secure the board in place. Reattach the power cables.

14. Start sliding the gate tray back into the gate, plugging in the ribbon cables as you go. Make sure you plug the end of the ribbon cable into the end connector on the board. The middle of the ribbon cable will then plug into the connector on the middle of the board. Make sure the ribbon cables have been firmly locked into place, with both tabs securely snapped.

15. Replace the screws that were removed from the front gate cover.

16. Plug the power cable back into the height transmitter (back) board.

17. Make sure no cables are being pinched, then replace the gate cover and screw it into place.

18. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

19. You now need to run a threshold test. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan and then tap ALL. This test will take several minutes to complete.

20. Your Cubiscan should now be functioning normally.

Replacing a width receiver boardThis section describes how to replace a width receiver board on the Cubiscan 325.

Items needed –Regular and small Phillips Screwdriver–Replacement width receiver board

Complete the following steps to replace a width receiver board. The width receiver boards are located on top of the gate.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Remove the four screws shown in Figure 26 and then remove the gate cover.

3. Disconnect the ribbon cables by simultaneously pushing the tabs located on each end of the connectors outwards.

4. Disconnect the two power cables.

5. Remove the six screws holding the board in place, using the Phillips screwdriver.

6. Carefully remove the damaged board and replace it with the new board. Handle the board with care; the LED’s are fragile and can be broken. Make sure you orient the board correctly, with the power connectors towards the back of the Cubiscan.

7. Screw the replacement receiver board into place.

8. Make sure the jumper is set to the 1 position for the board closest to the back of the Cubiscan. If you are replacing the board closer to the front of the Cubiscan, make sure that jumper is set to the 2 position. An example of the jumper in position 3 is shown in Figure 28.

9. Reattach the power and ribbon cables. Make sure the ribbon cables have been firmly locked into place, with both tabs securely snapped.

10. Replace the gate cover and screw it into place.

11. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

12. You now need to run a threshold test. Go to Menu > Diagnose > Gate. Move the gate to the middle of the Cubiscan and then tap ALL. This test will take several minutes to complete.

13. Your Cubiscan should now be functioning normally.

Complete the following steps to replace the encoder and attached cable.

1. Power off the Cubiscan 325.

2. Remove the two center cover thumb screws that are located on the right side of the system. See Figure 29.

3. Slide the center cover to the left so that you can access the controller.

4. Move the gate into the home position (the right side if facing the front of the Cubiscan 325).

5. We recommend trying to work around the glass platform without removing it. If it becomes a nuisance, carefully lift the platform using two people and set it aside.

6. Using the 3/32'' Allen wrench, remove the two screws shown in Figure 30 that hold the encoder in place.

7. Cut the two zip ties holding the encoder cable in place.

8. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws holding the cable carrier bracket in place. Refer to Figure 31. The cable carrier bracket is located on the underside of the gate, where the cable carrier meets the gate.

9. Using the small Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws holding the other end of the cable carrier in place. See Figure 32.

10. Unplug the power, encoder, and ribbon cables indicated in Figure 33.

11. Lay the cable carrier out flat.

12. Pop off the plastic cable carrier latches located on top of the cable carrier. Refer to Figure 34.

13. Remove the damaged encoder and cable and discard it. Remove the end of the cable carrier if

needed by pinching the joints together and snapping it out of place.

14. Screw the replacement encoder into place on the gate bracket. The cable should face away from the gate. Make sure that the arrow on the encoder is pointing down. The encoder should hover just above the magnetic strip, but should not touch it.

15. Route the cable into the cable carrier and secure it with zip ties. Snap the end of the cable carrier in place if you removed it in an earlier step.

16. Snap the plastic cable carrier latches back into place.

17. Replace the cable carrier bracket and screw it in place.

18. Tuck the cable carrier back into its former position and screw it into place.

19. Plug and screw the gate power and encoder cables back into place. Refer to Figure 33.

20. Screw the ribbon cables back into place.

21. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

22. Move the gate slowly back and forth and make sure that everything appears to be working correctly. Make sure that no wires are being pinched and the gate has free movement. Make sure the encoder does not touch the magnetic strip but is very close to it. Make sure the green light on the encoder is lit.

23. Replace the glass platform if you removed it.

24. Replace the center cover and tighten the thumb screws that hold it in place.

Replacing the encoder magnet stripThis section describes how to replace the encoder magnet. The encoder magnet sits on top of the back linear guide. Refer to Figure 35.

Complete the following steps to replace the encoder magnet.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Peel up the damaged encoder magnet and discard it.

3. Use a solvent to remove the sticky residue left on the linear guide by the encoder magnet.

4. Peel the plastic backing off of the replacement encoder magnet and carefully place it on the back linear guide. The magnet should extend until it is underneath the encoder. The magnet should be roughly centered on the width of the linear guide; equal parts of the linear guide should show on each side of the encoder magnet.

5. Power the Cubiscan 325 back on.

Replacing the proximity sensorThis section describes how to replace the proximity sensor.

6. Twist the cable lock indicated in Figure 38. This will release the cables.

7. Discard the damaged proximity sensor.

8. Screw the replacement proximity sensor in place.

9. Screw the proximity sensor cables together, make sure to twist the cable lock so that the cables are locked together.

10. Slide the center cover back into place and tighten the thumb screws.

11. Power the Cubiscan 325 back on.

Replacing the controller boxThis section describes how to replace the controller. The controller box is located on the right side of the Cubiscan 325.

4. Unplug all cables that connect to the controller. Refer to Figure 41 for cable locations. Depending on your connection choice, you may only need to remove one (or none) of the following cables; Ethernet, USB, or serial.

•To remove the Ethernet cable, press the tab and pull it straight out.

•To remove the USB or display cable, simply pull it straight out using even pressure.

•To remove the serial or load cell cable, loosen the screws and pull the cable straight out.

•To remove the gate DB9 and gate DB25 ribbon cables, use the Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws, and pull the cables straight out.

•To remove the gate power, proximity sensor, and encoder cables; unscrew the cables and pull them straight out.

5. Disconnect the ground cable by using a 5/16'' wrench to remove the nut.

6. Slide the controller box to the right (if you are facing the front of the Cubiscan 325) and up to remove it from the Cubiscan 325.

7. Locate the replacement controller box and place it in the Cubiscan 325 base assembly, being sure to slide the thumb screws into the slots. The controller box connector side should be facing left, if you are facing the front of the Cubiscan 325.

8. Reconnect all the necessary cables to the controller box. For more information refer to Figure 41 or step 4.

9. Slide the center cover back into place and tighten the thumb screws.

10. Reconnect the power cord and power the Cubiscan 325 on.

11. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw holding the power supply cage lid in place. See Figure 51.

12. Remove the cage lid and set it aside.

13. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws holding the power supply board down. The screws are located in each corner of the power supply board.

14. Remove the power supply and discard it.

15. Locate the replacement power supply and screw it into place.

16. Reconnect the power supply cables.

17. Replace the cage lid and screw it into place.

18. Replace the motherboard and screw it into place.

19. Reconnect the motherboard cables.

removed, carefully lift the boards up and turn them over. Make sure that the colored load cell connection wires are not moved or disconnected during this process.

7. Unscrew the two screws on the bottom of the load cell summing board. Refer to Figure 56.

8. Remove the scale card and discard it.

9. Locate the replacement scale card and screw it into place.

10. Screw the load cell summing board in place.

11. Reconnect the load cell summing cable.

12. Replace the load cell summing box lid and screw it in place.

13. Slide the center cover back into place and tighten the thumb screws.

14. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

Complete the following steps to replace a load cell.

1. Power the Cubiscan 325 off.

2. Using two people, remove the glass platform and set it aside.

3. Remove the two center cover thumb screws that are located on the right side of the system. See Figure 64.

4. Slide the center cover to the left so that you can access the load cell summing box.

5. Use the 5/64'' Allen wrench to remove the eight screws holding the load cell summing box lid in place and remove the lid. Refer to Figure 65.

6. Locate the damaged load cell cable and disconnect the load cell connection wires by loosening the corresponding flathead screw with a small flathead screwdriver. Refer to Figure 66. You only need to disconnect the wires that correspond to the damaged load cell cable.

7. Remove the nut holding the load cell cable in the load cell summing box using the 7/16'' wrench. Refer to Figure 67.

8. Remove the cable from the load cell summing box and use the two 7/16'' wrenches to loosen the metal attachments on the damaged load cell cable. Remove the attachments indicated in Figure 68 and Figure 69. You will need these attachments for the new load cell cable.

9. Remove the load cell ball from the damaged load cell and keep it in a safe location.

10. Locate the damaged load cell body and remove the black, plastic cover near the load cell. See Figure 70. This cover protects the bolts that hold the load cell in place. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry the cover up.

11. Unscrew the two bolts holding the load cell in place using the 3/8'' socket with a quarter inch ratchet. Refer to Figure 71.

12. Both ends of the damaged load cell should now be loose. To remove the load cell cable, all you need to do is cut the zip ties holding the cable in place. We recommend taking pictures of the wiring so that you can duplicate it later.

13. Remove the damaged load cell body and the attached load cell cable. You will then need to use the 17/32'' wrench to detach the ball cup holder from the load cell. See Figure 72.

14. Screw the new load cell and ball cup holder together.

15. Bolt the new load cell body loosely into place. You will tighten it in a later step.

16. Route the new load cell cable, using the same route observed in an earlier step.

17. Use zip ties to secure the load cell cable in place.

18. Use the metal attachments and attach them to the new load cell cable. Refer to Figure 68 and Figure 69.

19. Route the new load cell cable into the load cell summing box and secure it using the nut from step 7.

20. Reconnect the load cell connection wires. Refer to Figure 66.

21. Replace the ball in the ball cup holder.

22. Replace the glass platform.

23. Completely tighten the bolts that hold the load cell in place.

24. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

25. When you have finished replacing the load cell you will need to balance the load cells. For instructions on balancing the load cells, see “Balancing the Load Cells” on page 23.

Replacing/Adjusting carriage assembliesThis section describes how to replace or adjust a carriage assembly. If you are replacing a carriage assembly it will most likely need to be adjusted. The carriage assemblies are the wheels that allow linear gate movement. There are two types of carriage assemblies and linear guides on the Cubiscan 325. The back linear guide is an open rail that uses two three-wheel carriage assemblies. The front linear guide is a V-rail that uses two three-wheel carriage assemblies. The V-rail carriage assembly has V-rail compatible wheels.

Items needed –5/32'' Allen wrench–Specialty carriage assembly wrenches–Replacement carriage assembly (if needed)

Complete the following steps to replace or adjust a carriage assembly.

1. Using a 5/32'' Allen wrench, remove the two screws holding the wheel set in place that you need to adjust or replace. Refer to Figure 73.

2. Remove the wheel set that you are trying to adjust or replace.

3. Adjust the position of the carriage assembly wheels by using the two carriage assembly wrenches. Use one wrench to hold the nut located next to the wheel in place. Use the other wrench to adjust the nut that moves the middle wheel. Refer to Figure 74 and Figure 75. Adjusting the wheels can be a delicate process, as small wheel adjustments can result in large differences.

You want the carriage assembly to fit snug in the linear guide but not so snug that it restricts gate movement or catches.

4. Once the wheels slide nicely in the guide, screw the wheel set into place.

5. Power the Cubiscan 325 on.

This appendix contains the cable pin assignments and command set description for the interface between the Cubiscan 325 and a host computer via a serial RS-232 connection, a USB connection, as well as for the interface between the Cubiscan 325 and a network via an Ethernet TCP/IP connection.

Cubiscan 325 command setThis section describes the commands recognized by the Cubiscan 325 to cube and weigh objects and to set up the Cubiscan 325 for cubing and weighing (dimension units, factor toggle, calibration, and so on).

All command packets begin with a STX (start of text) and end with an ETX (end of text), CR (carriage return), and LF (line feed). Each command has a Command field and an optional Data field. For example:

All commands receive either an Acknowledge response (ACK), or a Negative Acknowledge response (NACK). An ACK includes the Command followed by an “A” and may include a data field. A NACK includes the Command followed by a “N,” indicating that an error occurred. For example:

The Cubiscan 325 responds with a question mark NACK to any unrecognized Command. For example:

The IP address, or Internet address, is usually expressed in “dot” notation; for example, “121.43.6.234.” The first three groups of numbers (e.g., 121.43.6) are usually specific to the network to which you are connecting. Set portThis command is used to set the Cubiscan 325 TCP port number. In TCP/IP networks, port numbers are used to distinguish between different logical channels on the same network interface on the same computer. For example, port 80 is used for HTTP traffic on the Internet. Some ports have numbers assigned to them by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). These are known as “well-known ports” and are limited to numbers 0 through 1023. Ports 1024 through 49151 are “registered ports” listed by the IANA, and can be used by ordinary user processes on most systems.
