Cryopreservation and Management of Equine Sperm Educational Course for Horse Owners, Breeders & Veterinarians DATE: October 2-3, 2017 FEE: $950 LOCATION: Equine Reproduction Laboratory COURSE IS LIMITED TO 8 PARTICIPANTS Course Description: New two-day course design will allow a more in-depth look at the research we have developed to efficiently freeze equine sperm. The course will emphasize a quality end product and simplify the management of the straws for future use. Participants will have a better understanding of the entire freezing process, quality control, storage, management, artificial insemination, and much more. We will also discuss some Advanced Reproductive Techniques (ART) such as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and the cryopreservation of epididymal and chemically ejaculated sperm. Hands-on laboratory sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to freeze, thaw, and evaluate equine semen. Previous experience in semen collection, evaluation, and insemination procedures or attendance at a CSU Equine Reproductive Management equine continuing education short course is required as a prerequisite for this course. The continuing education programs for horse owners provided by Colorado State University are renowned for being practical and thorough with an innovative hands-on approach.
