CHPS GV TERM 1 WEEK 1

CLASSES ANNOUNCED THIS MORNING

Our numbers for the year coming through were both good and bad. We unfortunately did not get the required numbers to form eight classes this year but fortunately our numbers across grades meant that we could continue to have no crossed stage classes. However in Stage 2 this does mean that we will start the year with quite large class groups. This is still preferred to the alternative which meant having some of our Year 4 students in a 4/5 composite class which only reduced the size of our Year 3 class by one student. Our classes for the year and teachers are as follows: Kindergarten KL with Mrs Lipscombe

Year 1 1F with Mrs Faulkner

Years 1 & 2 1/2G with Ms Gilbert

Years 3&4 3/4D with Mr Dickinson 3/4W with Ms Wickham

Years 5&6 5/6L with Mr Lobb 5/6M with Mrs Munday Miss Raymond will be covering release from face to face duties, Mrs Vermeulen will remain in the library and Mrs Maynard will continue Learning Support. We are very happy with the makeup of our school this year and look forward to working with these class groups.

GRAPEVINE BY EMAIL

Would you prefer your Grapevine sent by email rather than a paper copy? Please return the following slip if this option is for you.

WELCOME MISS RAYMOND

It is with great pleasure that we welcome our newest permanent teacher to our school Miss Sarah Raymond. Sarah comes to us from Wee Waa Public School where she has been teaching for the last 5 years. She will be teaching in a relief from face to face capacity this year as well as building her skills with our Learning and Support Team. Welcome Sarah to our school and community.

P&C MEETING THIS THURSDAY @ 5.30PM

This Thursday afternoon at 5.30pm we will be holding our first P&C meeting for the year. This is a wonderful group to be a part of with parents taking on many major and minor roles in the support of our school. Last year our P&C were responsible for many fundraising activities including the Coastal Chic Art Show, Easter Raffles, Crescent Head Community Markets and our Mothers' and Fathers' Day stalls. New members are always welcome to come along to these meetings which are held in our school staff room.

STUDENT BANKING AT CHPS

Commonwealth Bank student banking is available at CHPS. Just send in your deposit book on Friday and your deposit will be processed. There are great rewards available to order after making ten deposits.

Opening a Youthsaver account to participate in School Banking is easy. To get started the parent/guardian can open an account: • Online by visiting commbank.com.au/schoolbanking

and clicking on the link to open a Youthsaver account; or

• In person at any Commonwealth Bank branch.

Join up and be a super saver!!!

I would prefer my Grapevine by email

CHPS GV TERM 1 WEEK 1

TRANSITIONING TO SCHOOL STREAM

As of this week CHPS will be transitioning from the Skoolbag app to the new Schoolstream app as an additional communication tool for our parents and community. We are excited to transition into this new platform. This again is a free app and we encourage all our families to add this to their devices to be kept informed of important updates and reminders. You can find Schoolstream via the App Store or Google Play by searching for Schoolstream and typing in Crescent Head Public School when prompted. We will increase our use of this app from Week 3 as we continue to personalise this to our school. We appreciate your patience during this transition.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Expressions of interest are being called for from families interested in a proposed new out of school hours care service (OOSH) which will offer an AM (7-8:30) and PM (3-6) service. If you are interested in utilising this service please contact Tarrik Morssi on 0416507720.

FLICKERFEST COMING SOON – SAVE THE DATE

Flickerfest, the fabulous short film festival, will be coming to CHPS on Friday 1st March. Put the date on your calendar so you don’t miss out on this showcase of brilliant Aussie short films.

LIBRARY NEWS

Welcome back to the library. The books have missed you and are looking forward to being borrowed and going home. Please bring your library bag or an old pillowcase case in to protect the books when you borrow. There are library bags for sale at school in wonderful original unique designs. Call into the library where these beautiful handmade bags are displayed. Library borrowing days will be Tuesday and Wednesday so bring your library bag both days until we get into a routine. Book club brochures went home last Wednesday if you missed getting one please grab a spare from the library. Orders are due back by 13th February. You can order safely online, the details are in the brochure or send your order and money into Mrs Vermeulen. If you have some spare time this year and would like to volunteer in the library you would be very welcome and very much appreciated. Just call in and chat to Mrs V or Mrs Lamb. NO NUTS PLEASE

As we have students at CHPS who are highly allergic to nuts, we request that families refrain from including nuts and nut based products in children’s lunchbox to minimise the risk. We thank families for their consideration and cooperation.

CRESCENT HEAD NETBALL 2019

Welcome to the 2019 Netball season!! Here are some important dates that are coming up soon for the start of the season:

• Thursday 7th February – Crescent Head Netball Club AGM 6pm @ Crescent Head Country Club

• Friday 15th February – Crescent Head Netball Club Information and Registration Day @ 3.30pm-4.30pm Crescent Head Rotunda

We would love to have more volunteers attend the AGM and help organise another successful year of netball. For more information please contact Julianne on 0413200763.

NAMES ON UNIFORMS

We would like to remind parents and carers to please label all uniforms including hats with children’s names. Items can quickly be returned to children when found rather than sit in lost property. This is particularly important in winter with jackets as children take them off after a cold start and they quickly become misplaced.

BOOK FOR SALE

Our Crescent Head, the book written by our students is selling quickly. Don’t forget to get yourselves and your loved ones a copy of this book. They are for sale for $25 through our front office.
