EXPO 2020 LOGO CONCEPTCONTEST ENTRY BY VALERII ILNITSKII

I’m very excited to showcase my vision of the logotype for the EXPO 2020 that represents the goal we plan to achieve for this city.

You can see the essential visual and semantic pillars and concepts that sustain logotype’s main principles and can reveal a rich story behind it.

1 National Values are represented in an iconic geometrical shape that stands for an entire region, rather than a single city. A simple shape that represents national foundations and its core values, the soul and unique character of the Emirates.

2 People’s eagerness to change the future for the better is represented by smooth and streamlined curves that mimic natural and harmonious flow of thought.

3 Interaction of ideas, a kinship of minds, hearts and people is represented by various intersections that visually explore and reveal the depth, complexity and beauty of any concerted efforts and unity of intentions.

4 Diversity of ideas and cultures is represented by the presence of three fundamental shapes : a rectangle, a triangle and a circle.

5 Creativity and hope for a brighter future is represented by bright, vivid, saturated, but tranquil colors.

ESSENTIAL LOGO COMPONENTS

The overall logo look is warm and harmonious, universally appealing and yet, carries additional cultural value for the region

Although it may seem that the logotype is rather spontaneous in its elements and colours, it actually corresponds to geometrical grid to ensure

that its perception is pleasant and balanced.

The colour palette gradually transorms from one side to another to add depth and evolution, symbolising a forever changing and adapting look towards a bright future.
