Have you ever been to a circus? As a child, I went to one that featured elephants that performed tricks. There was an elephant tent that smelled, but I couldn’t wait to see them perform. I pictured myself all grown up- strong and unafraid to work with circus animals. As the elephants came out, I felt my heart sink. I couldn’t believe that the time had finally come for me to see these beautiful creatures in front of me. They danced gracefully around the tent and people stood on top of them without falling. They also made a chain with each other by placing their feet on each other’s back. After their wonderful performance, we stayed to see the fearless lions. They too performed tricks jumping into circles with fires and putting their paws on their trainer’s chest. Someone even had his head inside a lion’s mouth. That was scary. I think that I continue to like the elephants best.

Broccoli for BreakfastBroccoli for breakfast.

Broccoli for lunch.

Broccoli that's tender.

Broccoli with crunch.

Broccoli for dinner.

Broccoli for snacks.

Broccoli in boxes and baskets and sacks.

Broccoli for weeks and for months and for years.

It's up to my eyeballs.

It's up to my ears!

I used to like broccoli but now, I'm afraid, it's beauty, at best, is beginning to fade.

It's lacking in luster.

It's lost all it's charm.

But that's how it goes on a broccoli farm.
