After a long but successful start to the year, the half-term break is finally here. Our new year 7 students have settled in well and experienced the team building days at Herd Farm. Our open evening was our busiest ever and the tours of the school have been very popular. The 2017 ‘Crawshaw’s Got the X-Factor’ was a great way to end the half-term along side the Year 7 Halloween Disco.

including Laura Weightman (pictured) Olympic and British champion middle distance athlete, who spoke about how a social opportunity turned into become a professional athlete. Earl Crabtree spoke about increasing participation through volunteers and opportunities available. Tanya Arnold from BBC (pictured) was the host for the day asking questions that we all wanted answers to. It was a great day and I hope the girls have felt inspired and motivated to promote womens’ sport and the opportunities that they have on offer.

The Year 7 football team demonstrated excellent teamwork and resilience

during their recent Leeds & District Cup tie against The Ruth Gorse Academy.

After trailing 5-2 at half time, the boys made a magnificent comeback to win the game 6-5 in extra time, showing that a positive attitude can help you

achieve.!!!

A handful of year 9 girls were selected to attend the Women in Sports Conference North III on Wednesday, 18th October. The conference was an opportunity to listen to key note speakers from a variety of backgrounds

We now have a policy in school that allows us to administer paracetamol to

students. We will always check with you at home to see whether students

have had paracetamol that day and we will always recommend water/rest

food before we allow students to take paracetamol.

We can not give paracetamol if we do not have a signed permission slip

from a parent. If you have not signed a slip please ask at reception for a

form.

Thank you to Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids for

approving a grant that provided

valuable funding allowing SOCA to

support our students in crisis.

Charity Sky Dive Miss Swales recently completed a charity sky dive which took place at March, between Cambridge and Peterborough. The Sky Dive was a birthday present which became a fundraiser for Saint Micheal's Hospice in Harrogate. A charity which is dear to Miss Swales heart as they took care of her late Grandma and Uncle during long battles with cancer. Miss Swales and her sister raised over £1000; double the target with donations still rolling in. Miss Swales commented that It was a fantastic day and an experience she could not recommend enough. She said she felt safe throughout the day even when she was being dangled out of the aeroplane!!
