Cranbourne South PRIMARY SCHOOL
Community Spirit ; Partnerships to Success
A Message From The Principal Class
Dear Parents/Guardians, School Concert On Thursday, 31 August the students of Cranbourne South Primary School came together at the Frankston Arts Centre to put on an amazing celebration of books and reading. The hard work they put into their performances was obvious, and coupled with an awesome soundtrack, brilliant costumes and vibrant lighting it made for a highly entertaining evening. Enormous thanks goes to everyone who contributed to this spectacular evening. Don't forget to order you DVD copy so you can relive the magic! A great deal of fun and hard work goes into preparing our annual school concert. We would like to extend our appreciation to all members of the school community that have helped with costumes, props, staging, transport, choreography and general support. Particular thanks goes to the concert director, Mrs Libby van der Steen for her superb leadership, Mr Malcom Huddle for his expertise and talent as our Technical/Music Coordinator, Anna Hennessy for the spectacular Art Show, Mr Greg Booth for his stage management, and the staff concert team for all their work behind the scenes. Thank you also to Frankston Arts Centre . Most of all we would like to thank the students of our fabulous school for all the hard work they put into their performances, from the early rehearsals to tonight’s brilliant presentation. Note: pdf of the Concert Program is available on the school website.
Principal for a Day (PFAD) Who would like to be Principal for a day? Well, Chris Buckingham the Chief Executive Officer from Casey Cardinia Libraries would! :) On Thursday, 7 September, CSPS is supporting the PFAD initiative as lead by ACER. We have discussed mutually beneficial aims for the day which include:
Increase understanding and awareness of the role public libraries and primary schools play in the community.
Identify opportunities for CCL and Cranbourne South PS to work together to promote early literacy, encourage lifelong learning and build resilient communities.
Build a partnership between CCL and Cranbourne South PS that delivers great outcomes for local children and their families.
Chris will be involved with Literacy/Numeracy Week activities, including the Outdoor Classroom experiences as well as the 2018 Foundation transition Teddy Bears Picnic. He will meet and chat with student leaders and key figures in the school to discuss our celebrations and areas for further growth. We welcome Chris to the CSPS family and hope to develop a long lasting connection with the Casey Cardinia Libraries. MONIQUE CORCORAN (aka Cat in the Hat) and SALLY HERBERT

Nature Play Australia together with Australian Primary Principals Association would like to invite your school to participate in Outdoor Classroom Day.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play. On Thursday, 7 September thousands of schools around the world will take lessons outside and prioritise playtime.
Outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. Play not only teaches critical life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork and creativity, but is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.
The Matific Games have begun and are running until Wednesday, 13 September. Matific is an online Mathematics site that takes your child through a journey of
maths discovery, allowing them to cover the entire school curriculum at their own pace. Teachers can assign work or children can move around freely earning rewards as they learn. All you need to do is use your child's login and play. If they don't remember, ask your child's teacher. The more stars they collect the higher their chances of winning. CSPS is also giving away prizes to the highest scoring student in each year level. So login at www.matific.com/matificgames and get playing.
The 5 Cent Challenge has begun for the last
time this year.
Remember to bring in
your 5 cent coins and put them in your classes piggy banks.
The class that raises the most money gets a special prize at
the end of the competition and all money goes towards the
school.
