Te Student Board meeting in Copenhagen was indeed a milestone meeting or the CSR team. Weunderwent some big changes during this meeting and also had substantial progress on key projects.o summarize, a highly productive workshop on incorporating CSR into the CEMS curriculum tookplace, the CSR Booklet was published and it was given a new name CEMStainability, a new set oteam members took over and most importantly, the CSR team rom now on will be called GlobalSustainability.

One o the prime objectives in Copenhagen or the Global Sustainability team was to come upwith attractive, easy to implement and long lasting methods o incorporating CSR into the CEMScurriculum. In keeping with this, a workshop was conducted with members rom different teams aswell as representatives rom the CEMS head office. Tis turned out to be very ruitul. In brie, it led usto the ollowing ideas and ways o implementation:

We are aware that students might want to urther develop this and suggest that the Schools have at leastone Business Project and one Skill Seminar related to Sustainability.

During the meeting we also urther developed uponthe modes o creating awareness or the Global ValueStatement (GVS). We have come to a conclusion thatit is critical that new CEMS students are exposed tothe concept o GVS right rom the start. As a resultwe would now be inorming new students about theGVS at Introduction to CEMS session at the schoolswhich is normally given by the Academic Directors.Tis, we think will certainly emphasize and inormthe students well o the importance and existence othe GVS.

Our efforts or securing lucrative internwith Social Partners are ongoing as always ancontinue to receive offers regularly which stuwill come across on Facebook on the Student Bpage and also via their local CEMS Clubs.

Te CSR Booklet or 2013 has been renamCEMStainability! and was published durinmeeting. We are delighted to have received so success rom several CEMS Clubs and woulto once again thank them or their participatioefforts.

SENStation.org is a very interesting portal or students and experts who are interested in the Social Enterp

We know that there are many CEMSies who share this interest and thus we will continue our suppoSENStation.org, more specifically in terms o promotion during the Business Project Competition.

All in all the meeting in Copenhagen has been highly successul and result oriented or the Global Sustainateam and we strive to have similar perormance in the uture meetings as well. I you have any questionsuggestions which might be related to our team please eel ree to contact us ([email protected]).

As the Danish philosopher Sren Kierkegaard once stated:

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.

Te MIM-Affairs team o the CEMS Global Student Board could not agree more with this. With our mission o achieving an excellent academic curriculum o the CEMS Master in InternationalManagement program, we launched a project to study the recently Alliance-wide implemented BusinessCommunications Skill Seminar (BCSS).

Te project consisted o a large-scale qualitative survey, designed to collect eedback on expectationso relevant parties, to identiy best practices o each partner school and to come up with specificrecommendations or achieving urther excellence. arget groups o the survey were: CEMS Students, course instructors/coordinators and CEMS Alumni. Te response rate was impressive: 57 students, 24instructors and 8 alumni submitted contributions.

During the 2013 Copenhagen Student Board meeting, the MIM-Affairs team madesignificant advancements in the analysis o all the responses. Opinions, critiques, insights andsuggestions were gauged, categorized and consolidated. Tis process laid the ground or solidrecommendations to the CEMS Academic Board or enhancing the BCSS experience andacademic relevance.

Just like the previous MIM-Affairs assessment o the CEMS Business Project course, the teamproduced an encompassing report to be shared within the CEMS community. We expect asignificant impact on the design and conduct o uture BCSS courses.

Among the specific suggestions or the uture BCSS are: 1. the creation o a standardized set omaterials to homogenize the BCSS globally; 2. the usage o interesting content (e.g. businesscases) to attenuate the issue o relevance o the seminar to proficient English speakers; and 3.intense application o eedback to students, both or oral and written assignments, to increasesel-awareness and enable personal improvement.

We are now looking or new opportunities to improve the CEMS experience and warmlywelcome suggestions that you may have or us to look into. We take your eedback seriouslyand will give your contributions ull consideration. Please contact us via: [email protected] you have any questions or ideas.

    Cheers,Kareem ChinFlavio SorianoAmir EhsaniNicolas Streit

In St. Gallen we started to translate the eedback we got rom the CEMS Club presidents intoaction: Te results were a makeover o the knowledge sharing platorm Podio to make it moreintuitive and the preparation o a Welcome Package or the new CEMS Club presidents with allrelevant inormation. In cooperation with the Head Office we started to work on CP guidelines toensure both interesting events or students and the protection o the CEMS brand.

In Copenhagen we had to say goodbye to Dennis Surya and Guillaume Chapuis, who unortunatelyhad their last meeting. Tank you or your great work, your motivation and your spirit! You willbe missed. Luckily, we got support by Philipp Sommer and Jos Ramirez who are joining ourteam and are ready to take over. As you all know, CEMS has become global, which is why theGlobalization and CCS team have decided or a closer cooperation to ensure the leverage o

experiences and best practices to the new member universities. Tereore Marc and Manredwill participate in the coaching and work with us on Podio to support the Global Ambassadorprogram.

We realized the importance o the involvement o the local Student Board Representatives in their clubwhich is why they will be the first contact or questions. Nevertheless we are here to help the clubs in neo support and we will continue with our coaching by giving initiation into Podio and hand-over calDuring the meeting we decided to adapt our ocus more towards finding general problems and commosolutions. Tis is also reflected in our new projects:

Current projects:Quarterly best practice - Corporate Partner guidelines - Involvement and diversification -

General problems & common solutions - Preparation o CEMS Club conerence

    CEMS Club Support (CCS) Team

We will publish quarterly best practices or a defined topic such as Alumni, socialor corporate events to inspire CEMS Clubs. Tis will be a competition that theClubs can apply or within a certain timerame. Further details and decisioncriteria will be shared soon on Podio with the presidents.

Already during the last CEMS Club Conerence, a yearly meeting with all CEMSClub Presidents in Budapest in November, we realized that Corporate Partners

are an important topic that we should have a closer look at. Tereore we aredeveloping guidelines or regional events, think about ways to get CorporatePartners more involved and look or new attractive cooperation. I you have ideasand comments, please contact us we appreciate your eedback a lot!

3Podio is the way to share knowledge, experience and inormation. Luckily Philippand Marc will take over afer Dennis legacy. Besides the general management oPodio we are working on a shared domain or all CEMS Club websites in the longrun. We will keep you updated about that!

    Sincerely yours,

o continue with the new structure proposed during the Student Board meeting in Sankt Gallenlast December, the Globalisation team has undergone a complete restructuring that will allow itto successully support all teams the Student Board as an ad-hoc taskorce, in addition to its ownprojects.

Te ambassadors role is to acilitate andimplement measures to ensure a consistently greatexperience all across the entire CEMS networkand we will start selecting the new Ambassadorsor Fall 2013 in the ollowing weeks. Followingthe idea o Globalisation as a taskorce, we arevery happy to announce the partnership with theCEMS Club Support team or the completion othis project.

Another project that will continue to be deveover the ollowing months is the Carbon EmiOffsetting project. Again, as a collaboration between the CCS and Globalisation teams, Marc (GlobalisationPhilipp (CCS) will take over Dennis manageo Podio and will continue to work on it to estait as the knowledge sharing platorm o choithe Student Board and the CEMS Club Presi

Finally, we are excited to announce that the Globalisation team will work together with the CEMS Office in a long-term project that aims to identiy potential CEMS partners in Arica that will helpCEMS outside its current boundaries and reach an even more global status.

Summed up, the M&C eam had a very productive meeting in Copenhagen, where we drove currentprojects orward at a rapid pace, as well as involved the rest o the Student Board in mapping the need ornew ones.
