• Designed for use in immediate or potential threat to all or part of campus community
• Examples include: active shooter, potential catastrophic weather
• University-wide emergency• Occupants of specific buildings can be
contacted if emergency contained to specific area

• UK Alert Web Site provides detailed information, FAQ and allows visitors to register
• Notifications can be received in multiple ways and in order of preference
• I get phone call on cell and at home as well as e-mail
• Participants – through log-in/password system – can update and change their contact information

• On-line registration easy (I did it) and only takes a few minutes
• Constant promotion necessary• Incentives offered for early
participants: four Apple iPhones given away in random drawings
• Nearly 13,000 people people now registered
