2 CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER OF TIDEWATER • SPRING 20122 CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER O

DEAR FRIENDS,

You’ve probably noticed from past newsletters and other writings that we typically spell the word “LIFE” with all capital letters. Within this ministry, the word “LIFE” is so packed full of meaning we believe it deserves all caps.

CPC defends the LIFE of the pre-born child, impacts the LIFE of the mother and her family, and promotes LIFE to the fullest through

the shed blood of Jesus Christ. “LIFE” is the biggest little word in this ministry’s vocabulary.

This ministry is full of LIFE!

I hope you are as encouraged as I am about the record number of women and families served by CPC’s ministry and the commitments made to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in 2011. Together, through Christ, we can continue to defend, impact and promote LIFE. We cherish your prayers and support as God extends His grace through this ministry.

For LIFE with you,

Toby DeBause, President

Sarah and her husband came to The Keim Centers pregnant, out of work, and fi lled with fear. The couple had already visited an abortion provider, but was $20 short and could not complete the procedure. The Keim Centers were their last resort for help.

“I had my mind made up before I walked in the door that I was ending the pregnancy,” Sarah said. “I didn’t see any hope.”

After reading her positive pregnancy test results, Sarah met with a nurse and received an ultrasound.

“They gave me a sonogram and it was a baby. The blindfold was off. It was a baby. It was a life.”

When she saw the fully formed baby inside of her, Sarah was moved to tears of joy and asked the nurse to write “I’m here to stay” on their copy of the ultrasound image. Equipped with truth, the couple made a decision for LIFE.

“The Keim Center made me feel very comfortable. They talked to me like I was a person. The [advocate] took my hand,

looked me in the eyes and told me that through Christ anything is possible. And that is true.”

In June, Sarah gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Gavin. She reconnected with The Keim Centers for practical support and opened herself to learning more about the Gospel. Shortly thereafter, Sarah made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.

“I invited the Lord into my heart, and I gave up my will and my life to Him. He’s been knocking on my heart for a long time and I fi nally answered.”

Sarah continues to grow in her relationship with the Lord, sharing that she now sees God has always been working in her life. She is currently attending a new Christians class and will be baptized in a few weeks. Despite numerous challenges in her life, Sarah knows the joy of the Lord.

“Even though God did not promise my life will be all better after I came to know Him, I can see that it has improved.”

4 CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER OF TIDEWATER • SPRING 2012

AN URGENT CONVERSATIONHeart disease. Cancer. Homicide. All leading causes of death in the African American community. But do you know what tops the list? Abortion.

AWAKEN: An Urgent Conversation About Abortion’s Disproportionate Impact On The Black Community, a fi rst-of-its-kind awareness event held on January 17, was designed to bring our community together surrounding this crisis happening in our own backyard.

African Americans represent about 12 percent of the U.S. population, yet they account for approximately 35 percent of all abortions. Black women have consistently held the highest abortion rate for the past three decades, as well as the highest rate of unintended pregnancy.

“It is my contention that the key to winning this fi ght and turning the tide of so many children lost to abortion in our community is in our hands right now,” said Dr. Carlton McLeod, senior pastor of Calvary Revival Church Chesapeake and founder of D6 Reformation. “Embracing the suffi ciency of scripture changes everyone on the issue of abortion. A Biblical world view takes hold, and people who have been trained to think Biblically value LIFE!”

“DON’T WE HAVE A BETTER SOLUTION THAN DEATH?”Adding to Dr. McLeod’s message, Dr. Antipas Harris of Regent University’s Youth & Urban Renewal Center, Ryan Bomberger of The Radiance Foundation, and Vernicia Eure of The Keim Centers brought depth and context to the issue of abortion in our community, as well as solutions for forward progress.

“The reason we want to change the world is because people need to be liberated,” Bomberger said. “People are liberated when they hear the truth.”

27th Annual Benefi t Banquet

Guest Speaker Pam Tebow

THE TIME IS NOWby Pastor Durant Kreider, Coastlands Community Church

God is doing amazing things here in Hampton Roads and He is using the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater to bring people, churches and ministries together for such a time as this. CPC is not only saving babies and promoting life, but also joining partners to unite the body of Christ to change the world. Together we are able to exponentially make a difference. Together we were able to open a new clinic in Virginia Beach and show our support by walking for life at the zoo, in Suffolk and the Boardwalk.

What does God want to do next as we, the body of Christ in Tidewater, work together to fulfi ll His plan and purpose?

Now is the time; we are His people; this is the place. Supporting CPC is investing in more than just a cause; it is investing in a movement that will change the destiny of our region…and the world.

Coastlands Community Church in Chesapeake is a JMZ 1:27 church.

Will your church take the JMZ challenge? Connect with Nigel today!

THE JMZ 1:27 CHALLENGE: Each (1) church sponsors two (2) hours of pregnancy center ministry each month and provides seven (7) volunteers to help CPC.

Mrs. Pam Tebow faced a crisis pregnancy of her own with her youngest son, Tim Tebow, and now boldly shares her story. We’re looking forward to spending a special evening with her on October 23, 2012.

Please keep this upcoming event in prayer and consider how you or those you know can get involved.

Support and prayer warrior

Jean Tippett serves in numerous areas of ministry and regularly blesses CPC with her eye for solutions and willingness to try new things. Jean quickly transitioned from trainee to trainer, mastering her role in the call center. Her commitment to excellence and heart of compassion enables her to help train new volunteers in this critical fi rst contact with clients. She is dedicated,

supportive and always professional. In addition to her valuable role in the call center, Jean and her children faithfully help with special events. The day before this year’s Annual Benefi t Banquet, Jean’s family covered each of the 120 tables in prayer. Jean, you are an incredible blessing to CPC, and we are honored to serve the Lord together with you!

Cute Kid Alert!

• Volunteer since 2004• Serves in Norfolk, Portsmouth and

Virginia Beach• Receptionist, Nurse and “plant lover”

Dianne Myrick has a passion and love for CPC’s ministry that is evident in her amazing commitment and willingness to go above and beyond. Although she is a nurse and runs pregnancy tests in several of the centers, Dianne really shines at the front desk – answering the phone and staying calm even when she has a diffi cult call. She works quietly and effi ciently making labels, fi ling folders and anything else that is required to keep the front offi ce running smoothly. Dianne has repeatedly stepped up when there is a need and ministers faithfully in her own quiet, humble, gentle way – armed with a quick smile and great sense of humor. Thank you, Dianne, for the joy you bring to our Lord through this ministry!

Abigail helping with a CPC bulk mailing

Stephen and Stephanie McHenry, dedicated volunteers to CPC’s ministry, felt the Lord pressing on their hearts to do more to help save lives and spare hearts from the great tragedy of abortion. After spending time in prayer, the McHenry’s answered this call by tripling a fi nancial gift they had planned to give CPC.

That same week, they received their copy of Family magazineFamily magazine. Months earlier, the McHenry’s had entered their daughter, Abigail, into the magazine’s Cute Kid Contest. Despite the odds of this national competition, Abigail was named the contest winner. But what affi rmed the family even more was that the fi rst prize winnings equaled the same amount as their gift to CPC.

S t e p h a n i e shared, “We are so thankful it ended up being a story where GOD gets the glory!”

In November, we were honored to welcome Kristijan Aufi ero (pictured above with CPC President Toby DeBause) and Marie Ledebur who traveled from their crisis pregnancy center ministry in Germany to learn from us. However, we learned so much more from them. God is using their ministry, 1000plus (www.1000plus.de), to make a signifi cant impact. We are thrilled to be part of a global community working to share truth in love regarding LIFE.
