This is a puff, in this magazine, it is advertising the ‘free gift’ that comes with the magazine , as this is a music magazine the free gift relates to it-a music CD. Even though it says ‘free’ the price of the CD is actually included in the price of the magazine. Giving you the illusion that you’re getting something extra out of this, a bargain, however, this is not true as you still pay for it. Anchorage is used here , the quote “Is this article about me on drugs again” relates to the main focus of the magazine. As there are two men on the front cover, we can only assume that the quote is related to the male on our left, as he closer to the text than the other male. The way the ma le on the left is presented shows that he’s not one that’s shy from a drug habit, he seems ‘crazy’ and a stretch from the norm. The way he is dressed compared to the other male shows he is the more radical , intriguing one out of Free CD , puff. “The Best of 2012” the magazine is ‘puffing’ up the music with in the CD , therefore , making the audience want to purchase it as they feel they’re getting the best rock music of this particular year. Also this free CD could be the reason for impulse buys. As Double medium close up shot. The way the magazine allows it’s masthead to be covered shows their faith in their brand identity and also how important and famous the band on the front cover is. A flash, this story is less important than the main cover , however, the editor thought it best to still advertise it on the front cover. It’s way of saying the Alliteration used in these tri- flash. Shows that this magazine is for a more middle aged audience.
