Getting out and about is important for your well-being. Whether shopping or socialising, the trip out of the house is a welcome break for many people.

The City of Gold Coast’s Council Cab service provides affordable transport options for people over 60 years of age or those with a disability.If you are over 60 years of age or you have a disability and you live in one of the catchment areas then you are eligible to utilise the Council Cab service. You are welcome to bring your carer or dependants with you.

Convenient and affordable Services run on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday morning each week, depending on your pick up area. Each Council Cab trip costs $2, that’s only $4 for a return journey. Now that’s great value!

It’s door to door The Council Cab will pick you up in the morning from your home. Exact pick up times cannot be specified. When you make a booking the operator will give you an approximate pick up time. If you have booked a return trip they will take you home around lunchtime. You can confirm the times when you book.

How do I registerRegistration is easy. Simply download the form from our website, request a copy by phoning 1300 465 326 or visit one of our customer contact centres. Complete the form and return it with copies of the relevant documents. Once it has been processed, the City will send you a letter or email to advise you are registered for the service.

It’s friendly and safe People who use Council Cab tell us that they love the service. They find it safer than other transport and they enjoy sharing a coffee after shopping and making new friendships with other users.

Parcels and packages We try to keep everyone happy and make sure that they go home with the right shopping. Zippered bags are great and green bags are easier to manage than plastic. If you need to bring a shopping cart or trolley just let the operator know.

Service interruptions Service interruptions may happen from time to time. Cabs can be in high demand especially during wet weather and traffic delays can occur.

Please be patient. Council Cab is not an immediate service and may run up to 30 minutes past the pick up time provided. Remember pick up times are approximate.

It is recommended to book ahead when special events are on e.g. Melbourne Cup (November) or Gold Coast 600 (October) as you may experience further delays. Remember to check ahead for any special event days.

Cancelling your booking If you book and later decide not to travel then please remember to cancel your booking so that someone else can have a seat and avoid inconvenience to fellow passengers.

Special needs We try to assist where we can. If you have a walker, trolley or other special needs including a wheelchair, please let us know when you book. If you have a hearing impairment, you can book through the National Relay TTY Service on 13 3677.
