Transcript of council seats Alexander, the Lib Dem Chief Secretary to the Treasury, recently said in Washington...
Issue no.96 July 2014
The recent sunny weather denotes that summer has arrived and the even more recent rain probably indicates that it
is now autumn! Despite that thought there must surely be more decent weather to enjoy before that happens.
There is certainly more work to be done before the nights really draw in.
For example, we need people all over the county to consider whether they would like to put themselves forward
for the council seats which are up for election on the same day as the General Election in May 2015. It is not too
soon to do this as it helps us to identify where we need to throw our efforts to recruit more.
Now is the time to give that some thought. In Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch there are Borough council
seats available. Over the rest of the county there will be the District Council seats. Don’t forget in non-borough
areas there are also Town and Parish vacancies. These are what you might term starter level councillors, working
locally for a few hours a week. If you like to represent UKIP at any of these levels do please contact your
chairman – if you already have it might be wise to reconfirm you are on the list at the level you want to be. There
is nothing to stop you standing for a Town/Parish seat at the same time as a District Council seat. If elected you
will receive all the training from the council you are likely to need.
Another way is help with leafleting [as usual!] or even to try your hand at the Steve Unwin School of
Canvassing! He has a super, very simple entry level system which is producing fantastic result throughout Dorset
North, and other constituencies may well be trying it out for themselves soon. If you are interested contact your
chairman or Steve himself. You will not be made to walk before you can crawl and ‘full on the job’ training is
provided. You are not expected to do it for yourself until you are totally happy with it. It can be occasional,
monthly or depending on your keenness even weekly. Really, it is a lot of fun and the results are stunning.
A third way is more cerebral. In September it is expected UKIP will publish and launch at the Doncaster
conference a policy document covering most aspects in the lead-up to the General Election campaign. Have you
ever wished to suggest a policy for UKIP to adopt? Now is your chance. Even if you have mentioned it before to
branch officers, let your branch chairman know of your suggestion. Please keep it short! Dissertations not
required at this stage! It will then go to the Dorset County Chairmen’s Committee who will forward it to David
Nevett, our Policy Coordinator, on your behalf. He will then adjudicate and attempt to streamline the results
before sending them to the higher echelons of the party policy makers. It stands to reason that many will never be
adopted but it will give the opportunity for all to be considered and nothing that is really worthy being missed.
There is a deadline of July 14th to get this to your chairman so please email or write straight away. Don’t be upset
if yours does not succeed – it will be up against stiff competition and there may be more than one way to achieve
our aims.
There is a By-election in Colehill East in the East Dorset District Council on the 17th July. We are fielding a
candidate called David Mattock and we wish him well. If you can help his campaign please contact John Butler at
We are pleased to announce that Shaftesbury resident Matthew Brown has been selected UKIP’s PPC for
neighbouring South West Wilts. Matthew was a founding member of Steve Unwin’s canvassing party and also the
first Chairman of the Shaftesbury Group, although he has now stood down to concentrate on his campaign. We
wish him every success in the General Election in 2015.
Serious damage is being done to our government even before the General Election and you should be aware of it.
UK Parliament comes to an effective end on the 1st November 2014 when the right of the Westminster Parliament
to legislate over us in 43 areas, the important ones, will be removed and be made subject to ‘approval’. They call
it QMV, Qualified Majority Voting. Each Member State will lose its right of Veto over these areas, so the
despicable Cameron’s idea of negotiation to recover any areas goes out the window at the same time. The
following areas of competence will switch from requiring unanimous approval of all member states to qualified
majority voting only, which means we would need to have a majority to block any, whereas we currently need
everyone voting to approve. We show which Treaty, whether Nice or Lisbon or both, our treacherous politicians
signed to cause this disaster:
Initiatives of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Administrative co-operation - Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Asylum – Nice: QMV; Lisbon: QMV Border controls – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Citizens’ initiative regulations – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Civil protection – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Committee of the Regions – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Common defence policy – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Crime prevention incentives – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Criminal judicial co-operation – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Criminal law – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Culture – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Diplomatic & Consular protection – Nice: Unanimity Lisbon: QMV Economic & Social Committee – Nice: QMV Lisbon: QMV Emergency international aid – Nice: Unanimity Lisbon: QMV Energy – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV EU budget – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Eurojust – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV European Central Bank – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV European Court of Justice – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Europol – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Eurozone external representation – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Foreign Affairs High Representative election – Lisbon: QMV Freedom of movement for workers – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Freedom to establish a business – Nice: Unanimity Lisbon QMV Freedom, security, justice, co-operation & evaluation – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Funding the Common Foreign & Security Policy – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV General economic interest services – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Humanitarian aid – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Immigration – Nice: QMV; Lisbon: QMV Intellectual property – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Organisation of the Council of the EU – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Police co-operation – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV President of the European Council election – Lisbon: QMV Response to natural disasters & terrorism – Lisbon: QMV Rules concerning the Armaments Agency – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Self-employment access rights – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Social Security Unanimity – Nice: QMV; Lisbon: QMV Space – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Sport – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Structural & Cohesion Funds – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Tourism – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Transport – Nice: Unanimity; Lisbon: QMV Withdrawal of a member state – Lisbon: QMV.
This list show exactly why Cameron has fought hard to have his referendum after that date. A brief review of the
Treaties confirms the Transitional arrangements which allow, only on specific votes, for the Nice Treaty
Provisions to apply from 1st November 2014 until March 2017, hence PM David Cameron’s determination to
delay our referendum beyond that date, tying Britain for ever within the non-democratic, totalitarian and despotic
EU. More information about this at http://alturl.com/pw8kq
Many know there are various applications pending throughout Dorset for Wind Turbines that will ruin our
countryside for no good reason. TAINT [Tolpuddle Against Industrial Wind Turbines] is fighting one of these -
West Coast Energy’s application WD/D/14/000885. Find out more at www.taint.org.uk or at the West Dorset
District Council planning site http://alturl.com/v7fhx . Fight these by writing urgently to object to the WDDC.
Your objections should be on planning grounds only and not on the obvious facts that they are expensive, useless
and not the slightest bit ‘green’. Your letter should be on ‘material planning considerations’ and we list a few for
your use below: Visual Impact - Desecration of a small scale, beautiful, landscape with impact to the
surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Damage to culture and heritage , e.g. listed buildings and
Hardy Country – Destruction and disturbance of archaeological remains & scheduled monuments – negative
impact on the economy & social amenity [footpaths, bridleways etc] of local communities – Potential cumulative
impact with 2 other proposed wind farms at Charminster & Winterborne Whitechurch + Existing Roger’s Hill,
Bere Regis & Alaska farm at Wareham. Similar letters can still be written regarding the Navitus Bay Wind
Factory but citing the fact that Unesco is threatening to remove World Heritage status for the Jurassic Coast
should it proceed. Your letters are seriously needed as there are not enough objectors yet to block these
applications.
Interesting to note that co-founder of Greenpeace the Canadian Patrick Moore has stated that Climate Change is a
theory for which there is "no scientific proof at all.” Full story at http://alturl.com/kfatq
Danny Alexander, the Lib Dem Chief Secretary to the Treasury, recently said in Washington that “The latest
Treasury analysis shows that 3.3 million British jobs are connected to Britain’s place in Europe. That is the
measure of the risk that isolationists would have us take”. The announcement will raise tensions in the coalition
government with the Conservatives reportedly unhappy at the decision to include the figures in the speech.
However they continue to use information in deceitful ways! As the editor’s ex-headmaster used to say ‘If you
throw enough mud at a wall some of it is bound to stick.’ That seems to be the Coalition’s main policy.
A recent letter to the Telegraph briefly tells us much of what we already know about how the EU operates:
Sir, The significance of the choice of Jean-Claude Juncker as President of the European Commission cannot be
overestimated. Mr Juncker himself has said that Eurozone policy should be discussed in "secret, dark debates"
and that "When it becomes serious, you have to lie". Of Britain he has said "Of course there will be transfers of
sovereignty. But would I be intelligent to draw the attention of public opinion to this fact?" Thanks to Max
Gammon of London. Press headlines from this story include: ‘One step closer to quitting Europe’ [D Tel.];
‘Britain nears EU exit’ [Times]; ‘PM: Juncker nomination is a bad day for Europe’ [i on Sunday]; ‘Cameron
crushed – and UK edges closer to an EU exit’ [The Independence]. If only they were true.
LOL moment? ‘Merkel insists we are ready to address UK’s concerns.’ [i on Sunday].

Dorset North PC Steve Unwin - Election 2015 Countdown
Following the excellent results on May 22nd, it is important we keep up the momentum to build up
our team ready for the General Election which is just under 45 weeks away.
From our canvassing since May 22nd, it is clear now that rather than people being simply 'likely' to
support us, we are now at the stage where more than a third of those who actually voted cast their
vote for UKIP. Just by talking to people, we have been finding an even better response than before the European
Parliamentary elections. We have been picking up new deliverers and poster sites - it is an excellent time for us to
get out there! Support is there for the asking, but we need more members to help find them.
We need more manpower to be in a position to win, as each of our Dorset Parliamentary constituencies have over
40,000 houses. That requires a big team just to deliver our message through each letterbox or knock on each door.
We have a small team in North Dorset who every Thursday knock on doors to identify supporters and ask them to
give a small amount of help. Over the summer months we will be tackling some of the villages to take advantage of
the lighter evenings. Please contact me if you need a briefing on how to do it.
We particularly need volunteers to put themselves forward to stand as UKIP candidates for the local elections to be
held on the same day as the General Election. Please contact your local Branch Chairman for more information or to
offer your services. Across the country over 200 councils with thousands of seats will be up for election. Here in
Dorset all eight district/borough councils will have elections – 257 major council seats will be fought by at least 1,000
candidates.
It is essential we therefore have candidates for every seat. You can guarantee that most of our opponents will do,
and we must not forget that their old party machines will grind into action with the prospect of many local council
seats to loose, combined with the General Election.
As we are likely to be the main challengers we cannot afford to give them a free pass in any seat, no matter how
strong they are in that area. If we do, their activists in their best wards will be freed to work the neighbouring wards
where our best candidates are fighting to win. There are no ‘no-go’ areas for UKIP, we have support everywhere, and
it is our job to provide the opportunity for them to vote UKIP.
Our local candidates will also provide a local focus for our campaign in every nook and cranny of each of the eight
parliamentary seats in Dorset. All of our Parliamentary Candidates will be in the position of the main challenger to
the incumbent and if we work together we can get our first batch of UKIP representatives into Westminster.
