are preserved, followed by a tour of the exterior of the Church of Saint Gregory. Built during the10th and 11th centuries, its
interior is divided into three naves which lead to three apses.
The tour proceeds with a visit of the exterior of the famous Castello Normanno-Svevo (Norman-Swabian Castle), a defensive
bulwark of the old town that has come to symbolise the whole city. Built by the Normans in the 12th century, it was destroyed
in 1156 and rebuilt at the behest of Frederick II between 1233 and 1240. The manor is one of the most interesting
fortifications in the region, above all because of its strategic location. The castle, which is a fascinating example of a medieval
construction, has numerous extensions that were built in successive periods. Today it hosts occasional events and temporary
exhibitions.
Once we leave the old part of the city we move to the città nuova (the new city) where we have some free time to explore the
surroundings as we please. We then go for a walk along the seafront promenade, Bari's pride and joy, which features
numerous imposing buildings from the 1930s.
The visit to the old city involves walking for approximately 2 hours.
Dress code that is appropriate for the places of worship to be visited is recommended.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.

What we will do
We leave Bari by coach and we reach Alberobello, a picturesque town in the Murge area known the world over for its trulli,
the typical domed, cylindrical white dwellings that have earned two districts of the town a place on the UNESCO list of World
Heritage Sites. Trulli - which are typical of the Itria valley - are still used as houses today. They are modular dwellings with a
roughly circular plan with internal rooms distributed around a central space. The thickness of the walls and the almost total
absence of windows ensures an optimal thermal equilibrium; warm in winter and cool in summer.
Accompanied by a local guide we visit the two most typical rioni (neighbourhoods) of Alberobello: Rione Monti - which covers
about 15 hectares in the southern part of town - where there are about 1000 trulli arranged in 8 delightful streets, and used
mainly for tourist accommodation and as artisan workshops, and the Rione Aia Piccola in the south-eastern part of town,
where there are about 400 trulli used exclusively as residential dwellings ('Aia Piccola' is Italian for little barnyard, and refers
to a space once used for the threshing of wheat). We have some free time here for shopping.
Before returning to Bari there is another stop to taste some typical local products.
The transfer to Alberobello takes approximately 1 hour each way.
It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.
In case of heavy traffic, the excursion may last longer.

The New City
What we will do
We leave the port and start our tour on our bikes riding along Bari's beautiful seafront, the elegant pride and glory of the city
that winds its way up to the city gates. The Bari seafront promenade represents one of the most complete expressions of the
urban transformation processes that took place during the fascist period and it boasts many imposing buildings, most of which
were built during the1930s.
Our itinerary takes us near the Basilica of Saint Nicholas - built in the Apulian Romanesque style during the Norman
domination - where the relics of the famous patron saint of the city are preserved.
We then come to the famous Castello Normanno-Svevo (Norman-Swabian Castle), a defensive bulwark of the old town that
has come to symbolise the whole city. Built by the Normans in the 12th century, it was destroyed in 1156 and rebuilt at the

because of its strategic location. The castle, which is a fascinating example of a medieval construction, has numerous
extensions that were built in successive periods. Today it hosts occasional events and temporary exhibitions.
After this trip back in time, we have some free time to wander on foot into the new city, whose endless hustle and bustle and
vitality have earned it the title of Southern Italy's second city.

What we will do
Our excursion, which includes a visit to two of the finest examples of Italian architecture, starts at the Basilica of Saint Nicholas
, which was built in the Apulian Romanesque style during the Norman domination. It is here that the relics of the city's famous
patron saint are preserved. Its construction dates back to the year 1087 AD when, following the legendary expedition of 62
sailors from Bari to Myra, the sacred relics of Saint Nicholas were brought to the city.
We then proceed by coach to the second destination of our excursion: Castel del Monte, the symbol par excellence of the
melting pot of artists and scholars of many different nationalities and races that were hosted at the court of Frederick II of
Swabia. The castle, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is traditionally believed to have been built around 1240. It lay
abandoned for centuries until 1876 when it became a place of great interest to experts of history of art and astronomy,
scientists and architects, who even today are amazed by the perfection of a mathematically imperfect structure.
The building has an octagonal plan with a 24-metre high octagonal tower at each corner. The interior is divided into two floors
that are raised with respect to the forecourt. Observing the building in detail, it is amazing to note that not one of the façades
of the internal octagonal courtyard is the same as any other, yet the beauty and harmony of the building as a whole is quite
beguiling. The castle was built from three main materials (limestone, white marble and breccia corallina, a type of sedimentary
rock with a pink hue), which are carefully distributed to produce the right chromatic effect.

What we will do
After leaving the port, we set off to discover one of the numerous attractions of the island of Corfu, which the Greeks call
Kerkyra. It is no surprise that Princess Sissi, the Empress Elizabeth of Austria, chose the island as a refuge, far from the
obligations of the Habsburg court. The Empress, who was prone to solitude, loved spending time on this peaceful island,

monastery of Vlacherna can be seen, connected to the mainland by a small bridge. We will have the opportunity to take

From the city of Corfù, an open air museum with its historical and architectural wonders, to the wonderful landscapes of

City of Corfu: St. Spyridon Church, Spianada Square, Liston, Campiello district, City Hall (free time)
Paleokastritsa: panoramic views, relaxing on the beach and a visit to the caves by boat
What we will do
We visit the historic centre of Corfu, an open-air museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified Mediterranean
port city is authentic and beautifully preserved. We enjoy a walk through the labyrinth of streets with elegant buildings and
craftsmen's shops, arriving in the Spianada, one of the largest squares in Europe where cricket is still played. We pass the
elegant Liston, in the past only accessible to the Corfu aristocracy listed in the "golden book". We then arrive at the church of
St. Spyridon, the island's protector, and the City Hall. The Venetian atmosphere of the historic Campiello district of Corfu,
where narrow streets flow into characteristic squares, is truly surprising.
Having immersed ourselves in art and history, we enjoy the enchanting views of Paleokastritsa, famous for its idyllic bays
lapped by the emerald-green sea, its mysterious caves and fascinating rocks. According to Homer, archaeologists believe that
the legendary castle of King Alcinous was located in this town. Our boat, waiting for us in one of the bays, will take us to
explore the three magnificent caves, Nafsika, St. Nicholas and Blue Eye, before we admire the indented coastlines from the
other side of Paleokastritsa.
After the exciting boat trip, we cannot miss the opportunity to take a dip in this beautiful sea or enjoy a walk in the magnificent
village of Paleokastritsa.

At the port, we are assigned our Jeeps so we can embark on our adventure in convoy following the leading Jeep.
We drive along the coastal road towards the north of the island and cross the popular resort of Agios Ioannis as well as
unspoilt areas such as the Ropa Valley, a natural habitat to many birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and small mammals.
We reach the village of Kanakades and take some dirt roads as far as Liapades, where an off-road track takes us to the
foothills of a mountain dotted with villages surrounded by pine and olive trees.
The drive ends near our final destination: Rovinia beach, a wild secluded cove surrounded by two cliffs. We park our Jeep and
proceed on food, venturing for approximately 100 metres into the local vegetation.
Once on the beach, we have a small paradise all to ourselves to relax, swim and bask in the Mediterranean sun. The crystal-
clear waters ranging from blue to emerald green, the cliffs rising to protect the shore, the charming cave opening towards the
sea and the lush surrounding vegetation make Rovinia truly picture perfect.

Aboard a comfortable catamaran, we sail along the waters of the island of Santorini, dip into the thermal springs of Palea Kameni,

Catamaran cruise
Palea Kameni thermal springs: photos and dip into the sea
Island of Thirasia and Ammoudi bay
What we will do
After disembarking, we take a tender boat to the port of Athinios or to the Old port, Santorini’s main trading centre nestled at
the foothills of a majestic cliff.
Here, we board a catamaran and set off for a pleasant trip along the islets dotting Santorini’s caldera.
We reach the thermal springs of Palea Kameni, where the waters reach a temperature of 35 degrees and contain a high level
of sulphur, which is known for its healing properties.
From the deck, we admire the colourful spectacle that appears before our eyes: the minerals modify the colour of the thermal
waters, which range from green to dark orange. Despite the shallow waters, the boat will go as near as possible so we can
take a few pictures.
We then have the opportunity to take a dip into the sulphur waters of the thermal springs and benefit from their healing
properties.
Back on the catamaran, we continue our cruise and enjoy amazing views - the island of Thirasia, with its rocky edges climbing
to a steep peak, and the bay of Ammoudi, surrounded by steep red rock cliffs.
We make one last stop in the village of Oia and, beneath the ruins of the old castle of Agios Nikolaos, we take advantage of
the blue sea one more time for one last refreshing dip, a snorkelling session and a snack.

Mount of Prophet Elijah, views of picturesque villages and vineyards
Fira (free time)
What we will do
We will depart the ship and travel by motor boat to the port of Athinios, where our guide awaits us on board our coach to the
Akrotiri archaeological site. Following the coastal road towards the southern part of the island, we can admire the 'Caldera'.
In Akrotiri, which is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, we will have the opportunity to visit
and admire what is defined as the 'Prehistoric Pompeii of Aegean': a city with ceramics, furnishings and frescoes, dating back
almost 35 centuries and discovered in 1967 by Professor Spyridon Marinatos. The city unexpectedly saw its final days in the
17th Century B.C. when the inhabitants were forced to abandon it due to violent earthquakes. Following an eruption, the city
and the entire island were covered in volcanic matter.
Subsequent to the visit to Akrotiri, we will have the opportunity to admire, from a wonderful viewpoint, the beauty of
Santorini's nature and particularly, 'Caldera', a typical rocky formation which completely encircles the island. In Caldera, at a
depth of 400 metres, there is still an enormous 10 km crater; at the centre of Caldera, thermal springs and another volcano

We will continue our panoramic tour of the island passing by small picturesque villages and vineyards, until we reach Mount of
Prophet Elijah, the highest point on the island (567 metres), which can be found between Pyrgos and Kamari. The Mount, is
named after the Monastery, which stands on top of the mountain. From this point, we can enjoy a fantastic view of the entire
island.
The last stop on our tour takes us to Fira, the cosmopolitan capital of the island, considered one of the most beautiful cities in
Greece, with its characteristic inlaid vineyards where the white of houses, the blue of doors and windows and the blue of
church domes, dominate.
We will have some free time to take a stroll, admire the view of the Caldera and the typical houses built on the crater slope,
before taking the cable car down to the port and returning to the ship with the tender.
We recommend that you book early because only a limited number of places are available.
Comfortable shoes are recommended.
The archaeological site is indoors and does not have air conditioning.
This tour ends in Thira town. Guests can return to the ship by tender service by the “all aboard” time indicated in the Diario di
Bordo.
Guests can reach the tender service station by cable car or by foot. The ticket for the cable car is included in the price of the
excursion.

What we will do
We leave the port by 4x4 and drive on to the first stop of our excursion: the wild and enchanting Houlakia beach, surrounded
by the typical white houses and dominated by the distinctive lighthouse.
After taking a few photos, we board our 4x4 again to venture into lesser known and undeniably fascinating places. We cross
the Marathi area, pass the dam and Panormos beach to reach the fascinating, wild bay of Agios Sostis.
We then proceed in the direction of Ano Mera, a picturesque village in the heart of the island, and we stop at Paleokastro to
admire the ruins of an ancient Venetian castle. The impressive panorama is captivating, with cultivated fields and a nearby old,
abandoned mine.
In Ano Mera we can savour the flavours of this splendid land with a delicious Ouzo and meze based refreshment.
We proceed along the southern coast, passing by Kalafatis and Kalo Livadi, to reach the lush area of Halara.

What we will do
We leave the jetty and head for the wonderful beach of Agios Ioannis. During the journey, we can admire Ornos beach, one of
the most beautiful in Mykonos, spangled with luxury hotels and night clubs and yachts anchored off the coast. In the
background lies the island of Delo, the birthplace of Apollo according to the myth.
We leave the coast and penetrate into the hinterland of the island to visit the village of Ano Mera, which has firmly held on to
its traditions. Here we can admire the famous Monastery of Panagia Tourliani from outside. Our guide will explain how it was
built by the monks in 1542 and that it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. We cannot fail to take a few photos to remind us of the
fascinating architecture of this enchanting monastery, its fabulous marble fountain and its spectacular bell tower.
After our taste of Greek rural life, we return to Mykonos, where we begin our tour on foot along the narrow streets flanked by
whitewashed houses. It is easy to see how the labyrinthine layout of the town was purposely studied to confuse invading

What we will see
Island of Delo
Archaeological site and museum
What we will do
We set sail in the direction of the heart of the Cyclades to visit what was considered in ancient times to be the most sacred
island in Greece: the island of Delo. According to mythology, this tiny island is where Apollo, the god of music, light, harmony
and beauty was born. Pilgrims from around the Aegean Sea would come to Delo to worship Apollo and offer him their prayers
and gifts. The Athenians passed a decree 2,500 years ago, proclaiming that it was forbidden to be born or to die on the island,
because birth and death were considered to be a terrible desecration of the land that had given birth to two important deities.
The island was also a major trading centre, especially during the Roman era, and today we can still admire archaeological
evidence of its glorious past. At the beginning of the 19th century, remains of the ancient town were discovered on the island,
including the famous marble lions of Naxos, three temples dedicated to Apollo and houses with splendid mosaic floors. Mount

Cinto, where the oldest remains dating back to the third millennium BC were found, towers over the ruins of the town: a

the town will take our breath away.
When we are in the vicinity of the town centre, we abandon our 4x4 and, following the suggestions of our tour guide or
otherwise, we are free to explore every corner of the town on our own. We can walk along the bustling, narrow, paved streets
of the centre, flanked by white houses with shutters painted in different colours and balconies decorated with flowers. We
roam the maze of streets and explore the typical shops and splendid little churches: true architectural masterpieces. Before
leaving the island, it is worth visiting the magical atmosphere of the district known as Little Venice, where the houses have

What we will do
We board a traditional wooden boat and set sail towards the heart of the Cyclades and the island of Delos, in ancient times
considered the most sacred in Greece because, according to myth, it was the birthplace of Apollo.
While sailing, we can sit comfortably and sip a drinkwhile enjoying a panorama of unrivalled beauty and waiting for the sun to
set into the blue waters of the Aegean Sea.
Travelling along the island of Delos, we can admire the magnificent ruins of this sacred place such as the theatre, old harbour,
old town and try to imagine how stunning it must have been during its golden age.
Surrounded by this dream-like scenery, we take advantage of some free time to take a dip into the crystal-clear waters of the
Aegean Sea.
We then head back to Mykonos sailing through Little Venice, a distinctive district where the houses are built on the water’s

splendid resort which attracts not only tourists, but also film stars, artists and the jet-set celebrities. Our tour guide will take us
into the heart of the town to discover the authentic spirit and atmosphere if the narrow alleyways, where the white houses
strike a sharp contrast against the bright colours of the bougainvilleas and geraniums. If you feel lost in this labyrinth of little
streets, there is a reason: the town was designed in this way to confound invaders and thwart pirate attacks.
Every corner of the town is worth photographing: the painted doors, the numerous chapels, the balconies bursting with flowers
and the white pavements, which make the town unique in Greece. The architecture is typical of the Cyclades as seen on all the
postcards of the Greek islands.
We must not miss a visit to Little Venice, a distinctive district in the town, where the houses are built on the water's edge. It is
said these buildings were used to quickly load and unload ships to avoid pirate attacks. Today, we can dine in one of the
numerous restaurants lining the seafront: a unique and emotional sight!
Our walk continues toward the promontory south-west of Little Venice to admire the famous windmills, a symbol of the island
of Mykonos, once a major trading centre between Venice and Asia. Dating back to the 16th century and situated near the old
port in a strategic position to exploit the wind, the windmills were used to mill wheat. From here we can catch some beautiful
glimpses of the panorama and we can stop to take some photos.
We proceed towards the area of the castle and admire the famous church of Paraportiani, one of the most famous
architectural buildings in Greece. It was begun in the late 15th century and was part of a group of five minor churches
completed in the mid 17th century. The first four churches were merged and the fifth church was built on top of them,
creating the roof with a central dome that we see today.
The last leg of our tour is Manto Square, where the statue of Manto Mavrogenous stands, a hero of the Greek War of
Independence. We do not have to bid farewell to the town just yet, as we still have a little time to explore its hidden corners
and do a bit of shopping or relax, sip a drink and enjoy the view from the terrace of one of the bars.

Catamaran cruise around Dubrovnik
Imposting fortifications of the Old Town (panoramic)
Imposting Lovrijenac Fortress perched above the sea (panoramic)
Lokrum island: an unspoilt green paradise (panoramic)
Lapad Bay: stop at the beach
What we will do
We get on a luxurious catamaran with a warm welcome by the crew and are immediately ready to forget the noise of the city
to immerse ourselves in the relaxing peacefulness of the sea.
We set off on a cruise around fascinating Dubrovnik, pearl of the southern Adriatic coast jutting out into the sea with its
fortified historic city centre.
As the sea breeze gently blows through our hair, we let our gaze wander over beautiful landscapes and remain enchanted as
we take in the imposing fortifications of the old town protecting a treasure trove of red tiled roofs and white sun kissed
façades.
Perched on an impervious rocky cliff dropping into the sea, Lovrijenac Fortress appears before our eyes. It was originally built
in the 14th century as an additional protection for the city walls.
We turn our gaze towards the sea and see the luxuriant profile of the island of Lokrum, covered by unspoilt greenery made up
of citrus trees, cypresses, myrtles, agaves and oleanders. We cannot resist the temptation of capturing this slice of heaven on
our cameras!
Our catamaran thus reaches the beautiful Lapad bay where an incredibly crystal-clear sea stands out against the emerald
green of the surrounding hills.
We get off and enjoy a fabulous break at the beach, seizing the opportunity to dive into the refreshing Adriatic Sea, soak up

What we will do
In the company of our local guide we climb to the panoramic heights of the hill overlooking the city, from where we can
admire a breathtaking view of the hamlet that was once the legendary Ragusa.
We then return towards Pile Gate where we begin our walk along the city walls: an imposing system of fortifications, among
the most beautiful and best preserved in the entire Mediterranean, which still protects Dubrovnik's historic centre today.
On a panoramic route of nearly 2 km, we walk along the city's bastions, admiring spectacular monuments such as the
Minceta Tower, a powerful and monumental fortress that is a symbol of Dubrovnik, with its mighty round body towering
dramatically above the city's highest point, dominating land and sea and protecting the inhabitants from all threats.
We proceed to Fort Bokar, a circular stronghold built between 1564 and 1570, whose strategic position dominates the open
sea and protects the western port, the moat and Pile Gate.
We then move on to St. John's Fortress which hosts the Maritime Museum where we can learn all about the city's great naval
traditions, its maritime history, its sea captains and its skilled ship builders.
We spend some time at the Maritime Museum looking at documents, prints, portraits and model ships that bear witness to the
major maritime development of the Republic of Ragusa and the evolution of steamships.
The excursion involves a long walk, it is therefore recommended to wear comfortable shoes.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.

What we will do
Our excursion begins with a guided tour, during which we will cross the old town of Dubrovnik on foot.
At the end of the tour we have some free time to spend in the city's historic streets before boarding a motorboat for the
island of Lokrum which once belonged to the Benedictine monks.
Covered with lush vegetation and strewn with exotic plants, the island was declared a nature reserve in 1964 and in 1976 it
was recognised as a Special Forest Vegetation Reserve.
In this natural park of indescribable beauty, we can walk along one of the island's many walking trails to admire the numerous
pines and cypresses, the ruins of a historic French fortress and an abandoned monastery.

Cable cars, the summit of Mount Srdj, the Museum of the Croatian War of Independence
Dubrovnik's old town: Ploce Gate, Stradun, Church of Saint Blaise, Onofrio Fountain, Cathedral, Sponza Palace (external visits)
Drawbridge, Pile Gate
What we will do
Our excursion begins with a coach transfer to the lower station of the recently restored cable car station. The ride takes just 4
minutes to reach the summit of Mount Srdj, where we can enjoy a magnificent view of the city of Dubrovnik.
The original Dubrovnik cable car, service which was inaugurated in 1969, was used by visitors and locals to enjoy the splendid
view of Dubrovnik's old city and the surrounding area. The cable car system was destroyed during the war of independence
that began in 1991, and remained out of service until its recent complete restoration.
After a brief orientation tour at the top of the hill, we can take some photographs of this breathtaking panorama.
A short walk takes us to the nearby Museum of the Croatian War of Independence, situated in a wing of the Imperial Fortress
on Mount Srd, symbol of the defence of Dubrovnik from 1991-1995.
Photos, prints, arms, war maps, military equipment and objects from the daily lives of the residents and defenders of
Dubrovnik during the siege are on display in the museum in addition to original sound and video recordings and military battle
flags.
The return cable car journey takes us back to the lower station, just a ten-minute walk from Ploce Gate, the Eastern entrance
to Dubrovnik's old town near to the old port, where our walking tour begins.
We stroll along the Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street, passing the Church of Saint Blaise, the Onofrio fountain, the Cathedral,
Sponza Palace, the drawbridge and Pile Gate.
At the end of our city tour we have some free time to explore Dubrovnik's historic centre.

during your holiday by dropping off a completed Tour Order Form in the drop box located in the main hall of the ship. Excursions Office staff will be
happy to offer you advice and assistance.
