served an evolutionary purpose? Join us for “Fact, Faith, Science &
Religion,” a lively panel discussion about the intersection of science
and religion hosted by Neal Conan, host of NPR’s “Talk of the
Nation.” Our panelists will be Michael Shermer and Karl Giberson.
Karl Giberson is an internationally known science-and-religion scholar,
speaker, and writer. He has published more than 150 articles, reviews,
and essays, both technical and popular, in outlets that include USA
Today, LA Times, Salon.com, Discover, Weekly Standard, Quarterly
Review of Biology, Perspectives on Science & Faith, The Edge.org, and
Books & Culture, and has written or co-authored seven books. Dr.
Michael Shermer is the Founding Publisher of Skeptic magazine and
editor of Skeptic.com, a monthly columnist for Scientific American, and
an Adjunct Professor at Claremont Graduate University and Chapman
University. Dr. Shermer’s latest book is The Believing Brain: From
Ghosts and Gods to Politics and Conspiracies—How We Construct
Beliefs and Reinforce Them as Truths.

Girls Discover…Engineering! A day-long career exploration program
for girls in grades 6–8

Girls meet professional and student engineers,
explore careers in engineering, participate in
hands-on workshops, and meet new friends.

Health and medicine career program for high school students
This new program designed for students in grades 9-12 will explore careers
found in the OhioHealth system. Participants will travel to various facilities in
the OhioHealth System and meet professionals in different fields. OhioHealth
Medical Career Discovery @ COSI meets at COSI on the third Saturday
of every month (excluding holidays) from October 2012 to May 2013 and
includes a visit to an Ohio college in June 2013.
Cost for 2012-2013 school year: COSI Members $325; nonmembers $400.
Scholarships are available. Annual tuition includes all monthly meetings,
transportation for field trips and lunch.

Have a high school student who’s passionate about science? Consider COSI Academy, COSI’s career
exploration program for students in grades 9-12 considering science, technology, engineering, math,
and health careers. COSI Academy meets at COSI on the first Saturday of every month
