CSR-in-Action is a community of leaders dedicated to building strong, ethical and sustainable communities. Our members include corporations, governments, non-profits, foundations, philanthropists, celebrities, and thought leaders from all over the region. We make it a point to provide members with opportunities to convene, connect, and collaborate online, through events and one-on-one introductions.

CiA members are distinctive in their quest for change. They join CiA to generate new ideas, learn about best practices, and forge partnerships that will transform the face of Africa. Each member is encouraged to adopt 'Unini' — a decisive plan to take specific steps to address a local challenge.

Our work is clearly cut out: to make the stars of our network shine. The CiA website attracts thousands of visitors and we give each member an opportunity to reach their full potential through the guidance of a dedicated relationship manager with robust knowledge in the Millennium Development Goals challenge areas and the 10 UNGC Business Principles. CSR-in-Action 4

We offer business sustainability services at stipend rates, to manage our administrative burden and support our major stakeholders, decision-makers. Our aim is not profit, but the rendering of professional and useful sustenance services.

In order to succeed, businesses now have to take definitive steps towards acting responsibly towards people, planet and profit, sometimes also known as the triple-bottom line. We will partner with you to conceptualise and manage CSR initiatives. At CSR-in-Action, we will help you clearly define your areas of focus, map out measurable metrics prior to implementation, provide you with clear data collation processes, and then handhold you through the reporting process; editing your finished report to world class standards. We have partnered with South African environmental consulting firm, Environmental and Sustainability Solutions (ESS) to conduct concise analyse and reporting based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and related frameworks.

Understanding your organisation's host community's concerns will enable you to effectively characterise the community's needs and respond with appropriate interventions. In order to assess communities and create a community profile, there is a need to discover those things that matter to the community, what issues the community feels are most important to address, and what resources are available to bring about change.

At CSR-in-Action, we have strong ties with the grassroots and their advocates. Our tools are maximised to influence positive outcomes for both grantors and recipients.

In carrying out social development, it is necessary to use third party negotiators from the grass root like CSR-in-Action, who would not only be involved in consultative talks, but would also be hands on to check the progress of the agreed upon project

The Collective Social Investment Report:

TMSustainability in the Extractive Industries Seminar :

Annual Hubs:

Our annual CSR report is a high quality, first ever widely disseminated and inclusive compendium which covers all CSR activity all over Nigeria in the past years from indigenous businesses, to multinationals, governments and multi-lateral partnerships and is modeled after international reports on sustainable investment. Our sponsors have included GTB, UBA, Forte Oil, and Airline Services and Logistics Limited. The 2012 report was endorsed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG)

In 2012, we co-organised this event with the Deputy High Commission of Canada (DHCC) and had leading speakers from Canada, Nigeria and other parts of Africa, discuss pressing issues faced by stakeholders of these critical industries. This event is one of a kind and the purpose is to annually gather key stakeholders to discuss and assimilate best practice and challenges in these industries with a view to finding solutions. Every year, we have a different sub-theme.

We organise annual hubs in our key areas of focus: women & youth empowerment, health and education. These events are intended to draw together key stakeholders from the private and public sectors as well as recipients of services, in a bid to arrive at sustainable solutions to pressing issues. We partner state governments, such as the Lagos State Government, and private sector organisations such as Flourmills, WAMCO, Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), Nestle, Oando and Indomie.

GRI Sustainability Reporting Training, 2011

The Collective Social Investment Report: Nigeria 2012

Social Auditing, Training and Sustainability Reporting, 2013

Sustainable Banking Principle Workshop 2013

“CSR-in-Action in collaboration with ESS has provided a fresh wave of thought on sustainability, with a stimulated paradigm shift intended as block busters of barriers between competitor organizations. These past 3 days of intensive, trenchant and profoundly interactive sessions has created a new mind-set, entrenching sustainability as the "dominant feature" in a new world order.”- Emeka Mba, Community Relations Manager, Coca-Cola Nigeria PLC.

“The report is a very useful, informative and comprehensive source. It aided my research on sustainability policies in Nigeria and facilitated my data collection immensely. Given the fact that there is very limited literature and information on CSR practises in West Africa, this compendium is a step in the right direction for communicating CSR policies in the region.” - Allison Alassan, Msc. Candidate, Cranfield School of Management, UK.

“Quality deliverables and professionalism from a dedicated and responsive team at CSR-in-Action. They are organised and very easy to work with. I must say that it is great to deal with an organisation in Nigeria that is so responsive to the client’s needs, delivers results on time and is willing to make the work flow process so easy and effortless.”- Dr. Glenn Bestall, Vice President, QHSSEC, Septa Energy Nigeria.

“Thank you for putting the workshop together and sending the materials. It was indeed a good platform for future collaborations and we are delighted at the level of participation.” - Tolulope Onipede, CSR, Communication and External Affairs, Guaranty Trust Bank.

Matchmaking Service (Oando Foundation's Request for Implementing Partners 2012) “We were really excited to work with the CSR-in-Action team.
