CPM is described as a series of

business processes and

applications designed to optimize both the development and the

execution of business strategy.

CPM helps businesses define

strategic goals then measure and manage performance against

those goals.

CPM was defined as a set of

integrated, closed-loop management and analytic

processes, supported by

technologies, that address

financial and operational activities.

The successful execution of

business strategy is a well-

recognized requirement for any

organization’s survival in the hypercompetitive marketplace.

If you cannot measure an activity

you cannot control it.

If you cannot control it, you

cannot manage it.

When performance is measured,

performance improves.

When performance is measured

and reported back, the rate of

improvement accelerates.

Performance measurement is a sub-

process of performance management

that focuses on the identification,

tracking and communication of

performance results by the use of

performance indicators.

Performance measures quantitatively tell

us something important about our

products, services and the processes that

produce them.

They are a tool to help us understand,

manage and improve what our

organizations do.

So, performance measurement is a must

and it is extremely required to support the

performance management system.
