If there is no tissue, it is preferred to cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands. Maintain other healthy habits such as balanced diet, physical activity, as well as getting enough sleep. Try to avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth with your hands. Hands contaminated with the virus can transmit the infection. Adhere to personal hygiene and clean surfaces and floors regularly. Use facemask in overcrowded places, especially during Umrah and Hajj. Avoid as much as possible contacting with infected patients and avoid sharing personal tools with them. What are the ways of protection against the novel Coronavirus (MERS-CoV)? We do not yet know a lot about the characteristics of this virus and ways of its transmission. The Ministry of Health (MOH) is working alongside with the World Health Organization (WHO) and a number of the international experts to learn more about it. Until we know the ways of the virus transmission, MOH recommends citizens and residents to abide by the following health guidelines to limit transmission of flu, and infectious respiratory diseases in general:
