By clicking on the Configuration Icon, you can set up your program to your general requirements.

Select your language, as well as your preferred units Any of these entries can be modified for a particular customer application, but the configuration screen allows you to work with the units you encounter the majority of the time without the need to modify those selections for every sizing.

After completing any Customer data at the top of the Fluid Data Screen, move down to the Physical Data of Fluid section. Here you have the ability to work with standard or custom fluid data. The are three approaches you can take. You can select your fluid by Name

In either of these cases you click on the question mark and then select from the drop down menu.

You will need to enter concentration and temperature information and once you have valid input you will have the ability to select “Use Values”. If you are using a product not in the fluid list you can type in the name of the fluid, and then enter the operating conditions (density, viscosity, temperature and pressure. You need to be certain that the liquid had the conductivity required for a magmeter to work.

In all cases you should then enter the flow units and the nominal flow to be measured. Once you have all this information entered, you can click on “Calculate Meters”.

After you hit calculate the program will move to the meters screen. You will be provided with magmeter models that meet the flow requirements, including the meter size and the flow range of the meter.

Here are a couple of basic guidelines when selecting a meter.

1. Select a meter where the flowrate you are looking to measure is no greater than 10 ft/sec (3 m/sec).

2. If the process is abrasive, select a meter whose velocity is 5, or even 3 ft/sec (2 or 1 m/sec) depending on how abrasive the process is.

3. If you want to see selections outside those picked by the software, click on the result filter button and remove any exclusions or modify your turndown requirements. But be careful as this could lead to selecting meter sizes that you don’t want for your application.

The pdf output also includes Reynolds number data. In all cases you get the data in graph and data form. While the selection software does not make a definitive selection, it will provide the information required by the user to make an informed decision.

From here you also have a choice of Saving the file, Printing the information, saving the information as a pdf, or e-mailing the information.

By selecting e-mail, you will create attachments including the saved document that can be opened by someone else who has the sizing program, as well as a pdf file of the sizing output.
