They found the present golfcourse a perfect place for thisactivity. They began to ski downthe hill onto the golf course andthis became a popular placefor night skiing by using flaresto light their tr{lil. It also be­came a popular spot for sled-ding and tobogganing. .

Not long after this, a smallski run was. opened in CedarCreek by Hart and CarmenPhillips. Soon other local peoplejoined in the efforts. At the be­ginning there were no roadsgraded or trees cut.

The original ski run waslocated about four and one halfmiles up .the Cedar Creek. toad.They began operation with ~tow at aU and later improvisedone.

The weather man sent a crisp fall day for Rui­doso merchants to show a beautiful array of falland winter clothes at a style show held recently forvisiting attorneys' wives.

Ann Neal opened the show wearing an oysterski outfit from the Mountain Ski Shop (which wasformerly Leek's). Her parka, with its cozy, fur­trimmed hood was by Parkas Unlimited in quiltedvelveteen. She wore oyster ski pants by McGregorand black T-shirt and gloves by Christian Dior. Annlooked stunning in the oyster and black combina­tion.

Also modeling for this shop was Mary Ann Ed­wards wearing a Zebra water repellent parka withblack fox trim. She wore the latest in ski pants byHauser. The black pants were accented with redafter ski boots.

Little Angela Beavers, modeling for Lorene'sChildren's Shop, was a show-stealer in a black andwhite striped cotton trimmed with black rickrackand velvet bows.

Karen Parsons, daughter of a local attorney, wasready to plead her case for the young teen-agel' ina navy blue hip hugger skirt and white poor boyfrom Lorene's. To complete the ensemble, Karenwore a go-go hat.

Looking ready for the coming holiday seasonin a shimmering white evening ensemble from theChaparral Dress Shop was Ruth McGuire. The longcrepe skirt by Nardis was slit up the side to allowfor graceful walking and was topped by a jeweledshell by Botique International. Brocaded whitesatin shoes from the House of Shoes completed theglamourous formal ensemble.

Judy Beavers, also modeling for the ChaparralDress Shop, wore a sugar suede coat by Leathermodeenhanced with collar and cuffs of Ocelot. The coatfeatured the new flared look and was full length.Judy removed the coat revealing a simple blackdouble knit by Carlye just right for most any occa­sion.

From Sierra Blanca Ski Shop Murdell Holbertwore a tri-colored antron jacket and cyclamen skipants by Bogner.

Ready for a day on the slopes was L. B. Daviswearing a yellow jacket by Bogner with concealedhood and zip pockets so important to a skier. Underthe jacket, L. B. wore a white sweater with blue,yellow and green stripes by Meggi. Her ski pantswere br Bogner and she wore sun glasses by Seaand Ski. All from Sierra Blanca Ski shops.

The newest look in ski wear was shown by MaryLou Gooch and was also from Sierra Blanca Skishops. Mary Lou wore a rose gay two-piece suitfeaturing a low belted jacket with knit cuffs underthe sleeves to keep out the snow. To keep her earswarm she wore a white fur hat by Obermeyer.

Dressed for that special fall luncheon date wasHarlene Phillips in a double knit beige suit witha suede front from Brunell's Department Store.Her shoes were by Jacqueline in beige suede andshe carried a matching suede bag by NaturalizeI'.

Brunell's also showed an avocado green, two­piece knit trimmed in light blue and worn by LindaClark. She wore avocado suede shoes and carried amatching bag.

Lynn Denton chose an eye-catching three-pieceflat-knit suit in mustard green, also from Brunell's.The jacket was a long torso double-breasted withmedium high pockets in the new Mod Look. A touchof beige stripe on the collar matched the stripedshell. Her "Carpet Bag" purse was in varied fallshades and gold suede and alligator shoes by Jac­queline completed the ensemble.

From New Mexico Miss, Wendy Lamb wore a"Gay Gibson" yoked jumper in shades of holidaypink made of woolen blend fabric which is bondedfor smooth fit and comfort. The blouse, featuringa round collar, was of Arnel making an ideal en­semble for Wendy's world tour wardrobe for her:Scholarship Award year on the "College of the:Seven Seas."
