Classic Solids Control System Design
Limitations of Classic Designs
Poor Overall solids removal efficiency – High dilution rates.
Limited ability to handle high flow rates.
Limited ability to handle cold drilling fluids.
Degradation of Drilled Cuttings in secondary processes & pumps.
High liquid discharges through secondary solids control equipment (Increased waste)

The AX-1 Shale Shaker
The Concept
The AX1 has been Designed to
Offer a Step Change in Primary
Solids Control Performance
The AX-1 is Capable of delivering ±100% more capacity than the best alternatives; The AX1 offers significant improvements
and flexibility in fluid processing
Axiom AX-1 Operating Modes
The AX-1 has two Operating Modes with the Ability to quickly change from one to the other.
Series Mode: Drilling Fluid Processed through all Three Screens in Succession.
Fine Mesh Screening
Maximum Solids Separation
Parallel Mode: Drilling Fluid Processed Independently through the Middle & Lower Screens

Performance Summary
Field Trial – Glomar Arctic IV
Designed to deliver significantly higher fluid capacity than competitive machines, the AX-1:Handled ±70% of the feed (±800GPM) on both 17½” hole sections whilst fitted with 140 thru 175 mesh screens –with ROP averaging 25-30m/hr. The 17½” section was drilled with KCl/PHPA/Glycol mudHandled 100% of the feed (±950GPM) on both 12¼” hole sections whilst fitted with 210 mesh screens – with ROP averaging 25-30m/hr. The 12¼” section was drilled with OBMContinued to maintain LGS levels below 3% (without the use of centrifuges) throughout both 12¼” sectionsSignificantly reduced screen costs through the operation of fewer shakers and longer screen lifePilot testing has shown potential for the use of the 3-deck arrangement to allow recovery of significant quantities (>70%) of LCM/bridging materialCompany Men, Mud Engineers, Toolpushers & Rig Crew all stated their approval of the system – it was also commented that the AX-1 was notably quieter than competitive equipment (77.2dBA at 1m)
Roger Mowell – Field Data
AX-1s field performance fully met Expectations.Early mechanical problems rectified.300 mesh screens routinely used.Low Gravity Solids concentration maintained with limited centrifuge useDilution volume decreased by an average of 30% over 9000M of 8 ½” hole (circa 700 bbls v 1000 bbls per hole section)Over 9 * 81/2” Hole Sections only 8 Screen Panels were Discarded
