Tired of spending thousands of dollars for parts that break down on your CAT/ASV Multi-Terrain Loader? Are you missing rubber drive lugs on the track or have plastic/rubber idler and bogie wheels that wear out quickly? Bair Products, Inc. has solved your problems with their line of aftermarket heavy-duty undercarriage components that will outlast the life of your current OEM parts with reduced repair costs, minimal down time, and the ability to fix problems in the field within minutes.
REBUILDABLE AXLE HOUSINGS.
Introduced January 2011, for CAT 267/277/287 and ASV 100. These axle hous-ings come already filled with grease and a shield-ed grease zerk for easy access. They will not con-dense water which means no more corrosion on the bearings. Idler Axles will have a dual bearing upgrade to increase its durability over common OEM axle failures. Seals are purgeable allowing the, end user to know when the housing is full.
Axles are sold individually for use with OEM wheels and/or Bair's upgraded solid alloy Idler wheels or can be bought as a complete set with only Bair's alloy wheels for complete durability and strength.
TRACK TENSIONERS. Tired of adjusting that old jack screw with wrenches and torches? Save time and money with Bair Product’s grease-gun operated hydraulic track tensioner. It 's ready to install in minutes with no modifications. After installation, tension is adjusted by using a grease gun that keeps the cylinder tight.
ELECTRIC THROTTLE GROUP. Tired of your cables and foot throttle sticking on your machine? Convert your machine into an electric throttle controlling the R.P.M. with a toggle switch. No more stuck cables and could work as a nice anti-theft device. Installs easily and quickly.
FRONT/REAR IDLER & BOGIE WHEELS. These heavy duty aluminum alloy wheels have been made to withstand the daily use of your multi-terrain loader. The wheels will wear evenly over time where rubber/plastic wheels wear out on the inner/outer sides, taking the look of a bicycle tire and wearing a groove into the track. Bair Product’s alloy wheels will not have “chunks or will be split” like the rubber OEM wheels. Some wheels come with grease fittings into the wheel to help keep bearings lubricated at all times, saving the operator down time.
AFTER MARKET RUBBER TRACKS. Why pay high, marked up prices for rubber tracks from the dealers? Save money buying the same quality track that is also Kevlar reinforced for durability for less money than the expensive equipment dealers.
“LARRY LUGS” PATENTED BOLT-ON REPLACEMENT DRIVE LUGS.Don’t throw away your track due to missing drive lugs. Larry Lugs are heavy-duty lugs that bolt onto the track in place of rubber lugs that have broken, worn, or delaminated off the track, extending the life of the track. These revolutionary lugs will outlive the track itself. Ten minutes to install in the field or shop without removing the track. Simply grind off the old lug, place a template onto the track, and drill directly into the template and track to match up your bolt holes. Using an air impact, tighten the bolts into the lug. Larry Lugs can replace all the original lugs on a track. When the life of the track is finished, remove the Larry Lugs and reinstall on different tracks. Pat #7,625,050.

BOMAG Introduces Economizer Technology for Mid-Sized BW138AD-5 Tandem RollerBringing compaction measurement technology to mid-
size tandem vibratory rollers for the first time, BOMAG
introduces the new Economizer as an optional feature on its
BW138AD-5 roller. The Economizer system saves time and
money by providing operators with real-time data, thereby
allowing continuous control of the compaction process.
The BW138AD-5 Economizer uses an acceleration sensor
to measure the stiffness of the target material across the
entire compacted area. Data from the sensor is instantly
displayed via a series of ten yellow LED lights on the roller’s
instrument panel. The number of illuminated lights on
the LED display increases in conjunction with increased
compaction levels, allowing the operator to quickly react
to changing conditions and ultimately produce smooth,
consistent compaction results.
The Economizer signifies that maximum compaction has
been achieved when the number of illuminated lights does
not increase with subsequent roller passes. This technology
effectively saves time and money by helping operators avoid
making additional passes beyond the point of optimal
compaction. Additionally, a red LED light on the display
warns of potential over-compaction, thereby preventing
fractured aggregate. A sudden drop in the number of lit
LED lights indicates a weak spot in the material, allowing
operators to immediately analyze and remedy that
particular area of the project.
Powered by a Tier 4i 45.3-horsepower, water-cooled
Kubota diesel engine, the BW138AD-5 delivers a maximum
centrifugal force of 10,800 pounds. Offering a working
width of 54.3 inches, the roller includes larger 35.4-inch
diameter drums and provides dual vibration frequencies
of 3,480 or 2,820 vpm for more efficient compaction
and better surface quality results. Additionally, the
roller’s bolt-on oscillating and articulating joint improves
maneuverability by allowing the rear drum to follow the
same path as the front drum while turning.
A suspended and vibration-isolated operator’s platform
includes a fully adjustable seat for added comfort, while
allowing clear visibility of the drums. Operator efficiency is
enhanced with multifunctional dual travel levers and Smart
Drive steering wheel that provides more working room and
a full view of all machine controls.
The BW138AD-5 is equipped with a pressure water
sprinkler system that includes a high-capacity 81.9-gallon
water tank for extended operation intervals between refills.
Filtered spray nozzles and automatic interval sprinkler
control contribute to water savings, while solid windscreens
ensure that the drums receive sufficient coverage even in
windy conditions. Flexible, spring-actuated scrapers further
contribute to optimum water distribution.
Requiring no daily grease points, the roller is very easy to
maintain. Its durable composite hood allows efficient access
to the engine, while modern circular instrumentation on
the dashboard includes warning signals, an hour meter
and a fuel level indicator. Accessible lashing rings, a single
lifting point and integrated towing hook combine to make
transport easy and reduce unloading times.
Standard safety features on the BW138AD-5 include
foldable ROPS with seat belt, back-up alarm, emergency
stop button, and front and rear working lights for night
operation. The roller’s engine hood and instrument panel
are also lockable to protect against vandalism.

Western Introduces the ProdigyTM Multi-Position Winged Snow PlowThe Western Prodigy snow plow thinks for itself –
delivering multi-position winged plow performance in a
unit that’s as easy to operate as a straight blade. Thanks to
its patented mechanical wing design the Western Prodigy
automatically positions its wings to deliver maximum
plowing efficiency whether in straight-ahead scoop mode or
when angled for windrowing.
The Prodigy plow is available for both truck and skid-
steer loader applications. “When positioned for straight-
ahead plowing, both wings automatically angle forward,
defaulting to a ‘scoop’ position that clears an 8-foot 7-inch
swath,” said Doug Clark, Western Products Product
Manager.
As the blade angles left or right for windrowing, the heavy-
duty coil compression springs and cable assembly pull the
trailing wing back until it aligns with the moldboard while
the leading wing remains angled forward to capture more
snow and clear a 7-foot 10-inch swath. “With the leading
wing angled forward for windrowing,” said Clark, “you’ll
maximize windrowing efficiency since you can take a bigger
bite on every pass with minimum spill-off.”
Standard truck-mounted Prodigy plow features include
the Western Fleet Flex electrical system for true fleet
interchangeability with programmable features like
“soft-stop”, “one-touch float” and the Security Guard™

medium.
And as a cold recycler, it can recycle 100 percent of existing
deteriorated asphalt pavements in situ. Water, cement
or lime slurry, asphalt emulsion or foamed asphalt can
be utilized, the latter created inside the W 240i’s mixing
chamber.
Numerous new features put it at the top of the class in
terms of efficiency and economy. Machine output has been
optimized by a muscular power plant with high torque
reserves, yet engine power is transmitted directly and
effectively. Nine different rotor speeds guarantee optimum
mixing performance, aided also by ultramodern computer-
controlled metering technology with automatic monitoring
to ensure exactly the right mix.
A spacious modern cabin with camera system and a driver’s
seat that can be turned through 90 degrees ensure that
the machine operator always has a clear all-round view
of the machine and the job site. The cabin – with its large
windows – can be displaced beyond the right-hand edge
of the machine, permitting a perfect and direct view of the
milled edge.
All-wheel steering and a separate steering angle on the rear
axle ensure an extremely small turning radius, permitting
swift maneuvering at the end of short passages and in
confined spaces.
Technical improvements focus not only on driving comfort,
but also on easy operation. As a result, the operator now can
control all the main basic functions easily and conveniently
via the highly responsive multi-functional joystick in the
right-hand armrest.
Automated processes, such as automatic lowering and
raising of the milling and mixing rotor, the ergonomically
designed workplace, and an innovative reverse-assist
function, make the long, hot days on a dusty construction
site much more convenient for the operator, and improve
his daily productivity.
The optional four-high-resolution color camera can be
installed at various points of the machine to allow the
operator to monitor processes under way. Selection of view
is executed via joystick; the result is a significant increase in
performance, economic efficiency and work quality.

Mattracks Introduces the New 105 and 150 PlusMATTRACKS® recently introduced the new MT PLUS™
model, available in 2013 as part of the 105 and 150 MT
series.
Mattracks® has been converting 4-wheel drive trucks,
SUVs, tractors, ATVs and UTVs for more than 20 years.
When customers requested an even “larger footprint” than
is available in the market today for certain applications,
Mattracks’ engineers developed the new MT PLUS ™,
adding to the already extensive Mattracks® model lineup.
The new MT PLUS ™ has more “track” on the ground,
which will provide greater performance in deep snow or
soft soil conditions. With a 21” longer footprint on hard
surface and 33” more in soft soil conditions compared to the
standard 105/150 series; the rear track on the MT PLUS ™
provides unbelievable floatation in deep snow, sand, mud,
swamps or any challenging terrain. Its self cleaning system
allows the snow, sand, rocks, or any other debris to be
ejected from the inside of the track. Coupled with the tread
pattern and built in suspension the traction is outstanding,
while providing more than 50% greater footprint compared
to the standard 105/150 series. The PLUS system will fit
most ½ ton pickups and large SUVs.

New Trailer Brake Load-Apportioning-Valve for use with MICO MOBEUS EH Brake SystemsMICO, Incorporated introduces a trailer brake Load-
Apportioning-Valve (LAV) for use with MICO MOBEUS
EH brake systems on off-highway vehicles and trailers. The
new LAV proportions trailer brake pressure utilizing a tow
vehicle’s hydraulic brake signal in conjunction with real-
time trailer load sensing to continuously control pressure-
reduction braking to the trailer brakes without utilization
of tank-pressure. The result is load sensitive trailer braking
that reduces the occurrence of trailer wheel lock-up or
skidding.
Trailer load is sensed by the load apportioning valve and the
output pressure from the valve modifies output trailer brake
pressure in accordance with the current weight of the trailer
load. As trailer-load is increased or decreased, the trailer
brake pressure is changed proportionally. Lighter loads
induce lower trailer brake pressures whereas higher loads
result in higher trailer brake pressures.

New Digital Wireless Camera Viewing Device for Forklifts and EquipmentKeytroller, LLC recently the introduction
of it’s SEETROLLER digital wireless
camera viewing device. The digital
wireless camera system is specifically
designed for improving the safety of
forklifts and equipment. The retail price
for a one camera system with color 7” LCD
display is under $700.
Digital vs AnalogDigital wireless features FHSS technology
(Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum)
which uses a channel hopping sequence
based on an algorithm generated by
the receiver (LCD display). The 2.4GHz
(2.400-2.480GHz) band is divided into
sections or paths of 2MHz per section,
and each second, the transmission signal
hops hundreds of times in a specified
sequence within this frequency range.
The overall bandwidth required for
frequency hopping is much wider than
2MHz; however, because transmission
occurs only on a small section of this
bandwidth at any given time, the signal
being transmitted does not suffer from
greatly reduced signal degradation and also
avoids paths blocked by other devices that
act as sources of competing signals. The
strength of the signal being transmitted is
set to be from 13.5-16dBm, which is much
higher than the analog transmission signal
allowed by authorities around the globe. This
results in a sharp, clear picture, much longer
transmission range and not susceptible to
interference from machinery and microwave
“noise”.
A device pairing process synchronizes
the transmitter (TX, Camera) and the
receiver (RX LCD display). This allows the
transmitter and receiver to be on the same
frequency and use the same algorithm for
frequency hopping. This ensures that only
the paired transmitter and receiver can
maintain communication signal by hopping
to the same frequency paths at the exact
same time. As a result, the chance that other
devices within the same frequency range
are on the same frequency, at the same time
and in the same order is vastly reduced.
There is no interference from other cameras
(forklifts) that may be in the same area----
camera and LCD display remain paired.
Wireless vs WiredSEETROLLER wireless camera system
can be installed in a fraction of the time,
cost and hassle of a wired camera system.
SEETROLLER’S battery powered camera
is mounted on the forklift load backrest or
on the vehicle pointing to where you want
to see—there are wires to run up and down
the mast. The camera is turned on and off
remotely with a handheld FOB, and the 7”
color LCD display comes on automatically
when the signal is received and shuts off
within 3 minutes of loss of signal. The battery
is unplugged and recharged as necessary and
provides nearly 8 hours of power.
SEETROLLER’S LCD color display is
designed for the vibration issues found
on mobile equipment and features a
sunshade cover and adjustable mounting
bracket. The color camera features LEDs
that automatically come on to illuminate
the target in low light conditions. Clear
transmission range can be up to 300’ indoors
with no interference issues.

W.S. Tyler Adds Mobility to the Hydro-Clean™ Washing System Making it Easy to Transport from Job to Job, Site to Site
W.S. Tyler has added mobility to the
list of benefits of its innovative, highly
effective and environmentally friendly
Hydro-Clean™ washing system. The
company now offers the ability to
mount the machine on a chassis for
easy movement from place to place
within a quarry or even from jobsite to
jobsite.
Like the original Hydro-Clean,
the portable unit effectively cleans
deleterious material from aggregate,
recycled and other minerals. The
results are cleaner products with
higher selling value and profits
from material that was previously
considered waste. In the process, the
Hydro-Clean uses up to 75 percent
less water than traditional washers
and 15 percent less energy. And now,
the ability to easily move the units is
adding a new dimension of advantage
for users.
“The Hydro-Clean is unique in the
industry,” said Matthias Bremer,
innovation engineer at W.S. Tyler.
“Making it mobile delivers the
flexibility to locate washing closer
to the actual job and reposition it as
necessary to boost efficiency, while
delivering all the same profitability
and environmental benefits of a
stationary Hydro-Clean.”
The Hydro-Clean removes silt and clay particles faster than traditional methods,
which require soaking the material for long periods to loosen unwanted debris.
The Hydro-Clean also consumes considerably less water. Water consumption
ranges from 27 to 211 gallons per minute (GPM), depending on application and
model size, compared to log washers that can require up to 800 GPM. Of the total
volume of wastewater, up to 90 percent can be recycled and reused in the Hydro-
Clean, which only requires 10 percent fresh water to operate effectively. Using
recycled water reduces consumption even further, and that can help companies
comply with environmental and water usage regulations.
Hydro-Clean units require less energy than other washers, ranging from 34 HP
(26 kW) on the smallest of three models to 300 HP (225 kW) on the largest. With
that, the HC 350 can process up to 20 TPH, the HC 1000 can process up to 200
TPH and the HC 2000 can process up to 400 TPH.
Unlike a traditional washing unit, which can require up to three screens along
with a log washer or screw, the Hydro-Clean only requires a single rinse screen
for discharged material. The only other requirements are a water source, a pump
station and a feed conveyor.
[continued on page A13]
Clean material at the discharge end of the HC 1000, which can process up to 200 TPH.
A conveyor feeds material into the hopper of the HC 2000.

When it comes to family business succession
planning, one thing is certain: Most family
business leaders don’t do it, they don’t do it well, or they
wait to do it until it’s too late. While the CEO longevity
in non-family businesses is an average of six years, for
a family owned businesses CEOs tend to stay for 20-25
years.
Sure, that long tenure contributes to leadership stability
and consistency, but it can also fuel flat growth, narrow
business focus, and decreasing leadership drive.
Additionally, when the CEO and other top level executive
family members do not step aside in a timely manner, it
causes a high level of frustration in the next generation
who is ready to charge forward and make their mark.
Once it becomes clear that the children might reach their
mid to late fifties before taking over, it becomes hard
to hold on to the ambitious ones. That’s why all family
businesses need to have a solid succession plan in place—
one that helps the senior generation leave with ease and
welcomes the well-prepared next generation.
While succession planning can happen at any level within
the organization, we commonly think about the top five
to eight key positions for a written, structured succession
plan. So as you plan your company’s future leadership,
keep these points in mind.
Think beyond seniority. Many family business
executives choose their future leaders based on seniority
(i.e.: “She’s the oldest, so she will be our next CEO.”).
In some families, the next in line is the oldest male. Of
course, a single owner can make the easy decision to pass
the business leadership to the child of their choice. But
this “easy” choice can backfire if the adult child or the one
with the most seniority has not gained respect from other
family members and employees. In other words, often
the easy choice or the obvious choice isn’t the best choice.
Therefore, be open to broadening your search beyond the
next of kin.
Embrace a more professional process
of skill evaluations, performance
assessments, and reviews of career history.
The more thoughtful, objective, and inclusive the process
of bringing on the next leader is, the more likely that the
transition will be embraced. Succession readiness calls for
a written transition plan and an individual development
plan for the future CEO within three years of the planned
succession date. Implementation of the plan may involve
identifying other executive team members with succession
needs, building a coaching plan, and providing stretch
assignments in different functional areas of the company.
Rank possible successors based on key
criteria. Rather than just appoint the next oldest family
member to the leadership role, consider creating a list of
all the possible successors and rank them, from 1 to 10
(with 10 being high), in each of the following areas:
• Past work experience and advancement history
• Education
• Geographic mobility, if appropriate
• Learning agility
• Prior leadership positions—size and scope of
leadership responsibilities
• Advancement potential
• Advancement desire
• Interpersonal skills
• Assessment of the individual compared to the
company’s values and leadership competencies
• Past performance ratings
• The ability to take risks
• Decision-making ability
• Problem-solving ability
Doing this for each potential successor will help you see
which ones are best positioned to move the company
forward. Finding a successor with the right mix of skills,
attitude, drive, character, and experience that matches
your business will ensure the family company succeeds for
the long term.
Groom the next generation. Once you have a
successor in mind, offer him/her additional development
through such things as job rotations, stretch assignments,
additional profit and loss responsibility, and additional
exposure to board members and customers. The more
emphasis you place on prepping the next leader, the
smoother the transition will be.
Consider a non-family leader. When a family
business member utters the words, “Let’s consider a
non-family CEO,” the first reply is usually a colorful no!
However, a non-family CEO frequently brings diverse,
in-depth experience to drive business growth, bringing
professional alliances, partnerships, and strategy
opportunities. They can be a great mentor for the next
generation of family leaders—often then known as a
“bridge CEO” from one generation to the next. While
the family may hold all the stock, it is critical to develop
a performance incentive that will reward and retain the
non-family CEO and an employment agreement that will
fairly treat and protect the CEO.
Choose Who’s NextThoughtful, on-going planning for succession is a must for
long-term business success and sustainability. Therefore,
start now. Develop a clear plan about the succession of
senior leader positions, including who will be next, when
the transition will take place, and how that successor
will be groomed to make the move smoother. The more
planning you do now, the better the future will be—for you
and your family business.

Preventing Metal Fatigue from Ruining Flatbed Trailers
Probably the last thing you can
afford to waste these days is
an expensive flatbed trailer.
Across the country, many contractors
and farmers, still stretched thin from
the past few years look to cut costs and
reduce waste in any way possible.
Saving on equipment, which includes
not having to replace broken and
failed equipment, is vital. Contractors
are constantly moving equipment. To
do this cost effectively, they depend on
heavy-duty flatbed trailers – yet metal
fatigue sends many to the scrap mill
too soon, greatly increasing operating
expenses.
The repeated loading and unloading of
heavy items can strain a trailer’s frame
and supports. So can loads brought in
from the side, trailer flex from loads
coming up the ramp, and stress from
driving through fields, ditches, over
berms, railroad tracks and rough
terrain. If the loads are above a certain
threshold, microscopic cracks will
begin to form. Eventually a crack will
reach a critical size, and the metal will
suddenly fracture.
“You’d be surprised at how much metal
fatigue occurs if you run standard
channel iron or angle iron built
trailers at the maximum allowable
load,” says Philip McCullough, a
former farmer who is now General
Manager at Gajeske Inc., a Houston-
based distributor of polyethylene
pipe, valves, fittings, fabrications and
fusion equipment. “If you start seeing
microfractures, you have to act quickly
or they can turn into a much bigger
problem. Previously, we had to retire
trailers because they started cracking.”
According to McCullough, when a
manufacturer does not support critical
areas of the trailer, metal fatigue can
develop and “creep” throughout the
trailer. As other areas compensate
for the metal fatigue, they become
overstressed themselves.
Knowing what to look for in a heavy-
duty flatbed trailer can prevent metal
fatigue and safely, cost-effectively
extend its useful life. First, it must
be properly engineered to protect the
main beam. The flatbed boards can
be replaced, the tires can be replaced,
the couplers can be replaced, but if the
main beam develops metal fatigue, the
trailer will not last.
McCullough, who recently purchased
six heavy-duty Red Rhino flatbed
trailers offered by GoBob Pipe
and Steel, an Oklahoma-based
manufacturer of work trailers that
meet or exceed NATM and DOT
requirements, identified a number of
features that gave him confidence in
their reliability and longevity. Given
about 50,000 annual miles of use per
trailer, McCullough estimates ROI as
fast as 18 months on the new flatbed
trailers in reduced maintenance-
replacement cost and streamlined
operations.
“One thing I looked for was a torsion
tube under the trailer frame that can
take twisting stress from loading and
unloading off the main beam,” says
McCullough. The torsion tube on
these trailers is made of 4-1/2” OD
pipe that runs down center of the
trailer frame and is tied to the main
beam at three points.
Knowing what to look for can prevent metal fatigue from ending the useful life of heavy-duty flatbed trailers.
When Rick Yount bought a new flatbed trailer, longevity,
customization and value were the issues he focused on.
“If you load an inferior trailer, metal fatigue can get you in
trouble quick if it causes you to drop your load,” says Yount,
whose previous 20-foot tandem flatbed trailer was not long
enough to haul his tractor, mower, rototiller, scrapers, hydraulic
disc, and other equipment and supplies as needed.
Yount compared a number of trailers, but found what he was
seeking in a 26-foot Red Rhino flatbed trailer with a 6-foot
beaver tail ramp.
“At a glance you can tell the trailer is built to last, and they
were willing to customize it at a price that beat 99 percent of
the manufacturers I looked at,” concludes Yount. “Under the
flatbed, instead of 24 or 18-inch cross bracing, channel iron,
and no paint, I got 16-inch centered cross bracing, rectangular
steel tubing, and full paint. I got a steel main deck, built long
to haul all my implements, and a reinforced 6-foot ramp for
easy loading at a gentle angle. My flatbed trailer will last the
rest of my life, and then my son will use it.”
Located in Mounds, Oklahoma, GoBob Pipe and Steel offers a complete selection of flatbed trailers and hay trailers, including a new Red Rhino Hydraulic Dovetail trailer, featuring the unique (patent pending) HydraSled, hydraulic dovetail locking system. A video of this innovative device can be viewed at www.gobobpipe.com. The company can be reached at 1-866-532-9123.

A second flatbed trailer feature to look for is rectangular
steel tubing used in the frame, bumper, and tail lights.
The four-sided structural shape of rectangular steel tub-
ing can add strength without much weight, maximizing
payload capacity. Yet some trailer manufacturers use
channel iron – or worse, angle iron – for side rails, cross-
members, and rear bumpers.
“Rectangular steel tubing like this tends to disperse stress
more evenly with its four sides than channel iron, where
the trailer flex is concentrated on a two-sided weld, if the
manufacturer welds it at all,” says McCullough. “Unlike
angle iron which tends to rust and accumulate debris,
rectangular tubing is stronger and stays cleaner.”
Because the rear bumper is susceptible to impact from
the loading tractor and rough ground, it has to be tough.
Additionally, it should be positioned to protect taillights
from being torn out, particularly in a dovetail configura-
tion where the lights sit closer to the ground. For added
protection, the trailer bumpers use the same rectangular
steel tubing the frame is constructed from. The taillights,
including wiring, are enclosed in frame material and pro-
tected by the bumper, to deter the loader or rough ground
from knocking them off.
“Unless the loader aims for the taillights, they’re just
about impossible to tear up,” says McCullough. “In our
low-slung dovetail configuration, our tail lights have drug
on rough ground without damage.”
To reduce stress when loading and unloading, a reinforced
ramp is also important. This can transfer loading weight
to the ground and keep additional flexing off of the main
beam and structure.
Some ramps come standard with adjustable, spring assist-
ed, load equalizers, which can relieve stress on the trailer’s
main beam and enable the loading of standalone trailers,
unhitched to a truck. This can streamline loading and
unloading operations tremendously. Without load equal-
izers, unequal equipment loading can stress the trailer’s
main beams and even lift the rear end of the truck when
the load is heavy.
“Look for a reinforced ramp and load equalizers,” says
McCullough. “Without them, you get trailer flex from the
load coming up the ramp. An unequalized load pushes
the trailer down in back and lifts the front, with the weight
pivoting on the axles, adding unnecessary stress and met-
al fatigue.”
“Since we have multiple drivers and trailers, I sometimes
need to load a trailer before I have a driver,” adds Mc-
Cullough. “With the reinforced ramp and load equalizers,
I can leave a trailer loaded for the driver, which stream-
lines operations. When he gets in, he just backs up, un-
hooks the old trailer, hooks up the new trailer, and leaves.
I don’t pay overtime for staff waiting for the driver to ar-
rive, or to share a forklift. By pre-loading the trailers, we
can save from an hour to half a day in staffing cost.”
Preventing Metal Fatigue Equipment Financing Means Flexible Solutions for Unique Business NeedsEconomic times are challenging many businesses today, and the current economic environment poses even greater difficulties for entrepreneurial startups and small businesses that are struggling to get established, grow or just stay in business. The characteristic innovation, agility and hard work of these businesses are precisely what the U.S. economy needs to get moving again; however, their nature of being newer, less capitalized or less established creates a catch-22 that impedes their ability to secure the credit they need. That’s why it has never been more important for startups and small businesses to understand their options for financing the equipment needed to operate and grow their businesses.
Acquiring equipment through leasing and other financing methods is more flexible and customizable to meet unique business needs than most funding options. This makes equipment finance a perfect fit for startups and small businesses, both of which may have trouble getting traditional bank loans. With equipment finance, there’s no jumping through the same hoops as with commercial and industrial loans. For example, typically most lenders want to see two years of financials, which startups, by definition, don’t have.
Equipment finance is a $725 billion industry in the United States, and it is easy to find industry participants who customize their service offerings by end user industry, equipment type, ticket size or end user business size. There are equipment finance companies that offer special programs for startups, and companies that specialize in services for small and mid-size businesses. The important thing to remember is that equipment finance companies offer flexible options that help equip all types of businesses for success.
This is a particularly good time to finance equipment because there is so much liquidity in the marketplace. There are many funding sources—leasing companies and banks—that are looking to lend because they have the cash available to deploy. So, a highly competitive marketplace makes this a favorable time for end users to finance productive equipment.
Key Benefits for Unique Business Needs
In addition to current finance market conditions, the many benefits of equipment financing provide any number of reasons why it is an advantageous option for businesses. The following are among the most compelling benefits for the financial and operational needs of startups and small businesses:
• 100 percent financing with no down payment. Unlike with most traditional lenders, it is possible to arrange 100 percent financing of equipment with no down payment. This is a critical benefit since cash flow is often a concern for small and new businesses. Holding on to cash, or working capital, enables it to be used for other areas of the business, such as expansion, improvements, marketing or R&D.
• Elimination of risk of ownership. A business just starting out can use equipment financing to help mitigate the uncertainty of investing in a capital asset until it achieves a desired return, increases efficiency, saves costs or meets other business objectives.
• Expense planning for cash flow and business cycle fluctuations. Financing equipment helps maintain cash flow and greater certainty in budgeting by setting customized rent payments to match cash flow and even seasonal cash flows.
• Meet the business’s equipment needs. Leasing, loans or other financing enables businesses to acquire more and better equipment than they could have without financing. It is more feasible to make monthly payments than to make large cash outlays for equipment up front.
• Updated technology/Obsolescence management. To be on the cutting edge and be competitive, businesses need access to new technology. Certain leasing finance programs allow for technology upgrades and/or replacements within the term of the lease contract. Also, since the lessor owns the equipment, it bears the risk of the equipment becoming obsolete.
There are many additional features of using leasing or other financing to acquire equipment that are also highly beneficial. The equipment expertise of equipment finance representatives makes them valued consultant to end users, providing services that range from setting residual rates through lifecycle asset management solutions. Many financing companies provide asset management services that track the status of equipment, know when to upgrade or update it, and provide services relating to installation, use, maintenance, de-installation and disposal of the equipment. Equipment disposal, particularly of computers and IT equipment, can prevent end users from incurring legal penalties for improperly disposing of such assets, which are often regulated by federal, state and local governments. Equipment management by a third party, such as an equipment financing company, can enhance the ability of a business to focus on its core operations. Equipment financing can even hedge against inflation because instead of paying the total cost of equipment up front or with a large down payment in today’s dollars, the stream of payments delays the outlay of funds.
Preparing with thorough, accurate information will enable businesses to get the equipment they need at the best possible terms. W.S. Tyler
The unit comprises a vertical drum-shaped washing container with a feed hopper
at its entry and a conveyor belt at its discharge. The washing chamber contains
a rotating washing head with several water nozzles mounted on the top of the
chamber. It also features polyurethane panels that line the washing chamber and
variable height adjustment at the rotary wash head.
The Hydro-Clean is ideal for use in clay-heavy material deposits. Operators feed
dirty material into the washing drum through the hopper. The high-pressure
water nozzles mounted on the washing head spread and wash the material to
break up agglomerates and fully clean even the holes, cracks and deep areas of
porous materials, irregular rocks and other stubborn materials.
During the cleaning process, turbulence is created in the drum, providing
scrubbing and abrasive forces that enhance the cleaning process. The washed
material works its way down the drum andexits onto a discharge conveyor that
leads to a standard rinse screen, removing any remaining dirt or clay still on the
stone as it fractionates the material. The resulting dirty water flows through the
screen media and is collected by a waste water pipe, which sends the water to a
treatment system for additional fine screening or discharges it directly to any
other area.
Operators can adjust the discharge belt and control the feeding system to
accommodate various types of bulk material up to 6 inches (150 mm). The
distance between the unit’s washing rotor and its material bed is variable to
allow the system to adapt to various material types. Level sensors located at
the material feed inlet provide exact data to the PLC control unit, ensuring a
consistent material flow into the system.
The Hydro-Clean also weighs up to 60 percent less than traditional washers with
comparable production capabilities. Due to that compact size and weight, the unit
is easy to transport and overall operating and structural costs are considerably
lower than systems that require more equipment and a larger footprint. Hydro-
Clean washing units also feature a maintenance-friendly design that allows for
easy exchange of the few standard components that are subject to wear.
W.S. Tyler is a member of the wholly owned German-based Haver & Tyler
Processing Technology Alliance, and a leading manufacturer, systems provider
and specialist in the screening, washing and pelletizing industry. Focused on
all aspects of the screening circle, from particle analysis and screen media, to
vibrating screens and processing technology, as well as screening services, it’s the
company’s mission to bring new approaches and technologies to the marketplace.
With deep roots and years of experience in the screening business, W.S. Tyler is
able to effectively meet the needs of customers around the world.

The Hydro-Clean system requires just one rinse screen for discharged material.
With the mobility of Hydro-Clean units, washing systems can be located at almost any processing site.

New, innovative Schweiss Moving Gate gives versatilitySchweiss one-piece hydraulic and patented lift strap bifold doors have been on the market for years. Schweiss now has a newcomer on the scene — the Schweiss Moving Gate.
The Schweiss Moving Gate still utilizes the patented liftstraps, but instead of folding like a bifold door or outward like a hydraulic door, it lifts straight upward. The gate is a perfect solution for a room divider and cladding materials can come in multiple applications or combined with metal, glass or other materials to your liking.
A perfect example of this was a first-of-its-kind Schweiss “Gate” built by Schweiss Doors for “The Paw,” an upscale dog and cat resort. The owner of the 27,000 sq. ft. luxury pet resort needed a room divider gate – wall if you wish – to separate a 96 ft. room in half for dog training and handling purposes. Who you gonna call? Schweiss Doors.
What made this Schweiss 46 ft. wide, 1,500 lb. multiple-function designer gate different was how Schweiss Doors built it to his personal gate design. He wanted a quiet and smooth operating Schweiss gate that stood about head high with the top half of see through polycarbonate panels and below that utilized steel paneling.
This particular Schweiss gate allows humans and animals to see across to the other side of the room without having to raise the Schweiss gate. A
push button control on the side wall lifts the Schweiss gate conveniently out of sight and the Schweiss gate lifts in less than a minute.
Schweiss Doors designed it to lift straight up to the high ceiling, up and out of the way when not in use. Five popular patented Schweiss Bifold liftstraps and a 2 h.p. top-mounted Schweiss quality electric motor easily and quietly lift the Schweiss Moving Gate.
The owner was absolutely needing a safe gate that would not cause harm to humans or animals in the public facility. He also noted that it was reasonably priced and comparative in price to a pocket door, but much easier to use. He enjoyed working with the professional Schweiss design team to get this designer gate done.
The Schweiss gate now virtually gives the animal resort two rooms to work in, or when in the up position, a larger room.

Kencove Nitro revolutionizes the way we drive postsKencove Farm Fence Supplies announces their new self-contained post driver, the Kencove Nitro. Designed for durability, safety, and ease of operation, the Nitro surprised even the experts. The Kencove Nitro works by hydraulically compressing nitrogen gas and transferring the energy directly to the hammer head, a revolutionary technology in the fence industry. With only 2 inches of stroke, the unit drives posts rapidly with hydraulic down pressure and 500-800 beats per minute. The short hammer stroke reduces damage to the posts.
The Nitro attaches to most mid-size skid loaders using the universal quick attach plate and is the safest driver on the market. Once the post is set, the skid loader operator controls all operations of the Nitro from the cab while the next post is being placed. The 10’ chain can be used as a plumb-bob for the operator or to pull posts. With only 1 grease fitting and minimal moving parts, the Nitro will provide years of low cost operation. One tank of nitrogen will provide approximately 150 to 200 hours of work. A low center of gravity allows for ease of use, storage, and transport. Kencove offers
a 1 year warranty on the Nitro post driver. (Warranty excludes chain and hook.)
Since 1980, Kencove has committed itself to serving farmers and fence builders with fast, friendly service and expert advice. To learn more, please visit www.kencove.com or call 1-800-KENCOVE.

The unique trailer that quickly pays for itselfAir ride suspension systems have been in common use for over forty years and have proven to provide the smoothest and most shock-free ride of any known vehicle suspension system.
Air-tow Trailers provide extremely smooth ride quality and air ride suspension with a system that automatically adjusts air pressure in the air bag so the trailer always rides at the same height - whether lightly or heavily loaded. The higher air bag pressure automatically provides a stiffer suspension which is exactly what is required for a smooth ride. The lower air bag pressure for lighter loads provides a softer suspension, thus providing the same ride quality for all trailer loading conditions. Since each axle is independently supported by its own air bag, the air ride suspension is a truly, fully independent suspension system.
Ground level loading eliminates the need for difficult tilt beds or dangerous loading ramps. Since the deck remains level at all times, it is easy for one person to load multiple items. It eliminates the possibility of injury from handling heavy ramps or having equipment slip while loading.
Air-tow Trailers are ideal for loading equipment with poor traction at low ground clearance such as scissor lifts, pavement sweepers, compactors, rollers, etc. The low ramp angle also makes hand loading of heavy items such as safes, vending machines, ATM machines, and appliances safe and easy.
The Paw, an exclusive dog and cat resort in Minnesota had Schweiss Doors install a 46 ft. liftstrap moving gate. The gate lifts to the ceiling when open and divides a 96 ft. room in half when down.

Premium rubber protection available for construction equipmentAge-Master #1® rubber protectant is a surface treatment that has protected military, industrial, aviation and space equipment from rubber “dry rot” since 1969. This protection against cracking, loss of strength and flexibility is now available for construction equipment.
When painted onto tires, tracks, hoses, belts, bushings, or other rubber parts, it penetrates and dries in minutes, leaving no slick or oily residue. The strength, f lexibility and traction properties of rubber are not affected, and this penetrating protection will not peel or wash off.
Put science to work for you.
Rubber “dry rot” is caused by UV rays, oxidation, and ozone in the environment. Age-Master #1® works by adding a chemical barrier to rubber that reacts with these harmful elements before rubber can be damaged. This protection is especially effective for equipment exposed to hot, sunny environments.
Benefits include:
• Longer service life for lower replacement costs.
• Less repair downtime.
• Improved readiness of equipment in storage.
• Meets Military Specifications.
