Almost looks like a doll-suggests she is perfect- is a ideology seen with pop artists, which explains why when something negative is seen about them in the media, it is emphasised as it breaks their perceived sense of perfection by their audience.

‘Contents’ in lower case letters which gives a sense of being naive which is a trait that is associated with an audience (stereotypical young teenagers) that have an interest in ‘bubble-gum’ pop artists such as Katy Perry. This links with the expression on the artists’ face, which gives off a naïve impression. Lets reader be aware of what genre the edition of the magazine focuses on.

The quote gives the reader a more detailed impression about the artist and what type of artists are featured on their magazine- ‘A girl who had some sass’ automatically encourages the reader to connect with her as a person rather than a musician, which can link to what type of news is featured on this magazine- not only music news but also personal life –which is what young teenagers who are interested in mainstream music and social life are dominantly represented to be interested in.

However, not a lot of information is given in textual form on the contents page, which may be to not give too much away and flood the reader, inviting them to want to read more about topics in the magazine.

Visually more easy to understand, suggests that this appeals to a young teenage audience as it isn’t laid out like a conventional contents page with blurbs and headings, however arrows are used instead- young teenagers can identify with this more as arrows are used in high school work with spider diagrams which are seen as more visually helping as opposed to a lot of text- so directly makes a link between its target audience and how they set out their contents page.

‘Inside the mag…’ as opposed to ‘contents page’: Abbreviation of magazine ‘mag’ may suggest that this appeals to a younger teenage audience, as mag is a colloquial term for magazine, automatically invites the reader to believe that the audience have a big interest in their social life. In pink- stereotypical colour associated with teenage girls, implies that this magazine is dominantly appealing to teenage girls.

Many headings of different features in the magazine including We <3 Shopping, We <3 Boys and Celebs and gossip. Gives audience a variety of features to be looking forward to. Celebs and gossip is its biggest feature, suggesting that this is the main attraction of the magazine which appeals to its target audience as young teenage girls who have a interest in the social media will be able to identify and empathize with some of what the celeb and gossip feature includes. Features on male artists are highlighted in yellow, suggesting that that is their audiences favourite features. Also includes competitions and shopping, a dominant ideology of what younger teenage girls like and think about in their personal life. Their target audience aren’t wealthy as they are teenage students, so the feature Wins and Offers will appeal to them, especially when the competitions are associated with their interests (seen through The Wanted- a group who have the same/similar audience as this magazine.

OVERALL MESSAGE: Magazine focuses on the readers interests more in comparison to the pop music genre. This is seen through a variety of features, the biggest feature being about Celebs and gossip, which highlights that they conform to the dominant ideologies associated with their target audience- their target audience have an interest in their social life and media (seen through the feature Celebs and gossip ) and their personal being and the latest trends (seen through the feature We <3 Boys and We heart shopping)
