ICFAI was established in 1984 as a not-for-profit society with the broad objective of empowering citizens through world class quality education. The Institute announced its arrival into the Indian education fora by launching a high end, innovative professional program in financial analysis in 1985. Subsequently, there was a big leap when ICFAI Group started its chain of business schools (IBS) across India in 1995 to offer management program. Since its inception, IBS has been consistently ranked among the top ranked B-Schools of India providing excellent academic delivery and infrastructure to its students and transforming them into leaders for the future. Another example that is a testimony to the culture of

innovation is the introduction of Case Study methodology at IBS. The Case Research Center at IBS has become a center of excellence and has won several accolades across the world. ICFAI Group has 2 Strategic Institutional Units, the ICFAI Universities and the ICFAI Business Schools. In all the programs offered across these units, the emphasis is on adherence to academic rigor and differentiated curriculum that bridges the industry-academia gap.ICFAI Group focuses on learning rather than instruction. In addition, the institute is engaged in important areas of research covering environmental sustainability, agricultural economics, health policy, financial economics, banking, intellectual property rights etc. There have been path-breaking research and good quality publications in these areas.Flexible and tech enabled learning also plays an important role in ICFAI’s teaching methodology. The delivery takes place with the use of hi-tech learning management system at campus programs and content delivery for distance learning through online medium. ICFAI Group practices the value of academic integrity at all levels.

As a policy, admissions are purely based on merit and there is nothing like capitation fee et al. The fee payable is published in the application material and that remains unchanged. The ICFAI Group’s culture of teaching and learning supports and fosters intellectual and personality development among its graduating students. They carry an attitude of ownership of their work. ICFAI Group strives to make the students - DOERS. N J Yasaswy (1950-2011)

Founder’s ProfileMr. N. J. Yasaswy (1950-2011), founder of the ICFAI Group of educational institutions and a pioneer in promoting higher education in the private sector had a brilliant academic career: B.Com (Andhra University 1969 – First Rank), CA Inter (May 1971 – First Rank), CA Final (May 1973 – First Rank), ICWA Inter (July 1970 – First Rank) and ICWA Final (July 1972 – First Rank). He was the recipient of the Basu Foundation Award for the Best Student of the Year from both – The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (in 1972) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (in 1973).During 1974-1980, Mr. Yasaswy was associated with the Administrative Staff College of India as a Faculty Member. In 1981, he started his consultancy firm, Yasaswy Management Association (P) Limited. Hyderabad.Mr. Yasaswy was appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as Chairman, Andhra Pradesh State Trading Corporation (1985–88), and Vice-Chairman, Public Enterprises Management Board (1986–88). He was a visiting faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (1986-88) and was nominated as a Member on the SEBI Committee on Accounting Standards. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACIIA), Switzerland. He authored several books on finance and investments.Mr. Yasaswy set up the ICFAI as a single institute in 1985 without governmental sops or institutional funding, in an era where government support was the norm. He chose to spend all his energy on the fledgling institution which over the years grew to become a monument to what ambition can deliver. He was instrumental in building several business schools and universities in the developing states of India, particularly in the North-East region. He stood for professional management, excellence in the quality of education offered in the ICFAI institutions, and absolute discipline.He was charismatic, a great teacher, an institution builder, a visionary and a genius who was years ahead of his time. His vision will continue to guide ICFAI forever.



The ICFAI University, Dehradun, was established in 2003. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956. Since its inception, the University has maintained the standard and decorum in the educational environment. Its’ main objective is to create and disseminate knowledge and impart skills in core areas through innovative educational programs, and research & development, thereby developing a new cadre of professionals with high degree of competence and a deep sense of ethics and commitment. The University is global in outlook and cosmopolitan in character. It is focused on four vital disciplines of Law, Management, Engineering and Education. The programs are structured in a way, so as to impart the students with quality education and thereby providing the recruiters with a bunch of budding talented professionals.The University encourages and supports co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and our students take part in sports, cultural activities, seminars and workshops organized by different colleges and Universities at National/International forums. The University provides all the necessary resources for holistic development of its students, such as Library, Internet Centre, Wi-Fi Campus, Transportation, ATM Facility, On Campus Doctor, Cafeteria, Class rooms equipped with LCD projectors, Moot Court Room, Labs, Auditorium, Indoor and outdoor sports facilities which are at par with the National/International standards.

InfrastructureThe ICFAI University-Dehradun provides world class state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities to its students, which aid in all round development of the students including knowledge, aptitude and personality.

The CampusThe campus is set at the foot hills of the Gharwal Mountain Range, amidst a hot bed of bio-diversity surrounded by diverse flora and fauna. This helps the students to forge a symbiotic relation

with nature. The campus has separate centers of learning and research for different disciplines.

The Academic BlockThe classrooms are adorned with modern theological equipments like LCD projectors and High Definition Sound systems, and are characterized by their scientific seating arrangements. The faculty chambers are suitably equipped to give the student an opportunity to stay in touch with them. The faculty also encourages off class contact with students which helps in fostering strong interpersonal bonds between students and teachers.

Techno-InfrastructureThe University is armed with all modern technologies required for Clinical Legal Education. The campus is covered by Wi-Fi network, which provides 24x7 internet connectivity.

The LibraryThe Campus has a state-of-the-art Centralized Library for the University along with a specialized Law Library. Both the libraries are fully computerized along with the internet facility. These libraries house vast resources of books, journals, magazines and periodicals. The students also have access to a vast array of books of other interests such as self help books which are available at the University Central Library. All these facilities make these libraries adobes of knowledge, which quenches the thirst for enlightenment.

Other Activity CentersThere are other centers of activity in the campus too, like the Seminar Halls, Auditorium, Open Theater, and Moot Court Room. Till date these halls have played host to numerous seminars and guest lectures delivered by eminent personalities from different disciplines including the legal fraternity and luminaries.The auditorium is double decked and fully air conditioned. It is fully utilized by all the departments of the University for an array of cultural and academic activities. The open theatre

is a favorite haunt for the theatre groups.The Faculty of Law boasts of its Moot Court Room. The Moot Court room is designed to give the feel of a real court room. Moot Court Room is used regularly for organizing Moot Court Competitions.

Sports InfrastructureThe University provides the students with sports infrastructure in the form of basketball court, badminton court, volleyball court, football and cricket ground, and a lavish tennis room. The students also workout at the University Gymnasium.



Alumni SpeakMy time at the ICFAI University Dehradun was an experience all together and I cherish the five years that I got to spend in the University. The discussions in the classroom, the one on one interaction with Professors, the debates and the moot courts have all substantially contributed to not only my understanding of the subject, but has also helped me understand how important it is to look at the context whenever we study ‘Law’ and how we cannot isolate one from the other. I am also thankful to the Professors and seniors who have always encouraged me to pursue and to push beyond what I think I was capable of. About the Batch of 2014-19 & 2016-19The graduating batch of 2019 consists of 119 students of BBA-LL.B (Hons.) & 14 of LL.B Program. • The ICFAI Law School is committed to providing support in the final placements to all students who have successfully completed their respective program (BBA-LL.B (Hons.) / LL.B / LL.M) and also maintain good conduct throughout the program.

• The ICFAI Law School will make every endeavor to invite as many companies as possible for campus placement. Students must be however prepared to go to the company’s office or selection venue for any part or the complete selection process as required by the recruiting company.

• Students are required to be well groomed and in institute’s prescribed formals for all pre-placement talks as well as the complete selection process whether organized in the campus or the company’s office or selection venue. Non-compliance will result in debarring the student from joining in pre-placement talk and or appearing for the selection process.

Placement Rulespreparatory classes (including mock interviews) is compulsory for all the eligible students.

• The Training and Placement (T&P) Cell of ICFAI Law School will provide only one job offer to each student, after which he/she will cease to be on the list of eligible candidates for placement. Failure to accept the first offer will mean and imply that the institute will no longer be extending its placement support to such a student and he/she will be required to arrange for final and / or summer placement on his / her own.

• The T&P Cell will notify through group mail and on the Placement Notice Board all recruitment requests received from the companies with as much of details as made available. Applications will be invited from interested and eligible (as per the criteria, if any, specified by the recruiting company) students. It is the duty of every student to regularly see the Group mail/Placement Notice Board and comply with the announced datelines. No late applications /

requests will be entertained.• The decision to apply or not by

eligible students will purely be their own. However, if any eligible student decides not to apply to three companies, he/she will disqualify himself / herself from the placement support of the Institute.

• In case of a large response to a recruitment opportunity either exceeding the maximum number of applications required by the recruiter or deemed fit by the T&P Department, selection of number of resumes to be sent will be based on CGPA, Employability Assessment rating / grade, attendance in pre-placement talks and personality development & preparatory classes (including mock interviews), and / or any other criteria decided by the T&P Department. The decision of the T&P Department will be final and binding on all the students

• It will be mandatory for all short-listed students to appear for the selection process / interview. Any withdrawal / no-show will debar the student from placement assistance of the Institute.

c. Is found doctoring his/her resume submitted at T&P Department.

e. Asks any irrelevant question or behaves in an unacceptable way during the pre-placement talk

f. Misbehaves with Training & Placement teamg. Deliberately jeopardizes any other student’s chances

of getting selected• You are required to follow a dress code at the time of

their placement selection process. In case any student fails to follow the code he/she may not be allowed to appear for the process. The dress code is as follows :

• For Girls: Either institute’s uniform or Black Trouser (or Black Formal Executive Skirt) with White Shirt along with blue scarf or institute’s tie / Blue Tie.

• For Boys : Either Uniform or Black Corporate Suit, white shirt with Institute’s Tie/ Blue Tie.

• Even after placement every student is required to maintain proper discipline and conduct as per the rules of the Institute. In case of any non-compliance or an act of indiscipline, the Institute may be constrained to debar the defaulting student from participating in the Convocation write to the company to withdraw the appointment offer / or award any other punishment as the Institute may think appropriate.

• Every student has the option of arranging his / her own placement, i.e., opting out of the placement support of the Institute. All such requests must be submitted in writing to the T&P Department before the commencement of the placement process. In case a student would like to withdraw from the Institute’s Placement support after the commencement of the Placement Process, he/she may be allowed to do so provided he/she is not amongst students whose interview/ selection process is under progress

• The Placement Process will commence from October 2018

• The Institute reserves the right to change / modify any or all of the above stated Placement rules and procedures whenever found necessary. All changes / modifications will be communicated to the students.



Dehradun - An Education Hub Dehradun has been the most happening city in the country with very high per capita income, establ i shment of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and various SEZs (special economic zones) throughout the city. Dehradun has been home to India’s elite educational institutions namely The Doon School, Welhams School, St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Thomas’ College, Indian Military Academy, etc., and as such is a major education hub in India.

Since ages, Dehradun has been a major tourist attraction with beautiful mountains, mesmerizing valleys, forests and scenic locales. During the last 15 years, Dehradun has emerged as a center for Retail market in North India. Malls and multiplexes like Pacific Mall, Cross

Jhanda fair, Tapkeshwar Fair, Bissu Fair and Uttarakhand Mahotsav. Sports and outdoor adventure activities also contribute to the city’s character. The city along with Auli, recently hosted the South Asian Winter Games.

The ICFAI University, Dehradun (IUD) campus is in the vicinity of majestic Himalayas and tranquil Shivalik ranges. It represents cultural diversity of India as its students are from all parts of the country. IUD organizes and participates through its students and faculty in almost all the festivals, fairs, functions and sports events held in Dehradun. The students of IUD, apart from academics are exposed to various regional, cultural and sports activities.
