I am very happy to bring out the first issue

the Departmental Newsletter “Forum” for

the academic year 2019-20. This newsletter

outlines various activities that have been

taken place during the period June-

November, 2019 and the achievements of

faculty and students. Recently the first

semester results of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year

results are declared.

I am immensely happy to share the excellent performance of our

students in the examination. I congratulate my all faculty for working

hard towards the result and department growth. I congratulate all of

the Department stakeholders including Parents, alumni, experts drawn

from industry and academia and current students for their

contribution in achieving the goal set by the department during the

duration July-Dec 2018. The Department is currently involved in the

process of revising the course curriculum of the B.E (Civil Engineering)

program in order to keep abreast of the latest advances in the field of

Civil Engineering. Regarding placements for final year students in this

semester, several finishing school for estimating and costing, several

software tools exposure, Industry practices and skill development

programs were organized at the department level. Apart from that for

Second and Third year students various training and placement

programs were carried out with the objective of strengthening their

domain knowledge and soft skills. Also Pre-placement training is

offered to the final year students to make them prepared for the job

interviews. The Department of Civil Engineering is putting all efforts to

ensure the overall progress of the students. Any suggestions for

further improvement will be greatly appreciated.

ENGINEER’S DAY CELEBRATION: 14/09/2019

In remembrance of Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwarayya, the most

outstanding Engineer of all times, the Civil Engineering Department of

V.J.I.T. has celebrated “Engineer Day” on 15th September 2019. students

have participated. The celebration started with the event Essay writing

completion followed by Debate. And both the events judged by the

department senior faculty Dr. Pallavi badry, Dr. Srihari, Dr. N.Sudhrashan,

Dr.Kamalini Devi and Mr. M. Ashwin Kumar.Simultaneously Tech charades,

Quiz, JAM was started for students. Events judgements are done by

Ms.T.Sharada (Asst.professor-CE) , Ms.V.Swathi (Asst.Professor-CE).

At the end of day all the winners were awarded with prizes from HOD-

CE Dr.Pallavi Badry.

Orientation Day for First Years: 18/08/2019

Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, welcomed first

year civil engineering students by organising an orientation

program at the institute premises on 18 August 2019.

Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy (Chairmen VJIT), in his address

motivated students to be professional engineers as although a

large number of engineers are produced in India every year, only

a few of them turn into professionals. Institute Director, Dr. P.

Venugopal Reddy expressed delight over the fact that the VJIT

Institute had already become a much sought-after institution for

engineering studies in the Telangana region.

Dr. Pallavi Badry, Head, Department of Civil Engineering

Department, adressed the students about the various facilities

available in the institute and about the academics for the

students and also have given a lecture on "Contribution of Civil

Engineering Towards the Society" and "Evolution of Civil

Engineering”, students also made aware about their role and

responsibilities to become a successful civil engineer at the end

of the program.

INAUGURATION OF ICI KNOWLEDGE

CENTRE: 14/09/19

Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology has recently opened

a knowledge centre of ICI (Indian Concrete Institute) on

14th of September 2019. The inauguration is stated with

most eminent guests from industry as well as

academician’s. Later the chief guest, Mr. Er P. SRINIVAS

REDDY, ICI chairman Telangana has delivered his speech

regarding their valuable services giving to the students.

Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology civil has organized ICI

student chapter through which ICI encourages civil

engineering students to start student chapters in their

respective colleges and these chapters provide suitable

platform to interact with practicing professionals in

various disciplines.

The fresher’s program has been conducted by civil 2nd year students on

14/09/19. The day was turned into festive look. Institute Director Dr. P.Venu

Gopal Reddy, Institute principal Dr Padmaja and H.O.D of H&S department

Prof M. Rajendra Prasad were the chief guest at the function.

The celebration started with the opening welcome song and all the freshers were

addressed by our H.O.D Dr. Pallavi Badry.. Then a fascinating cultural dance was

performed by one of the UG first year student. The special chief guests also

delivered their precious speech.

We had a ramp walk by all fresher’s , every participant was dressed dashing and

were amazing on ramp. Finally we had decided and distributed the sashes with

following titles i.e Mr. fresher’s, miss fresher’s, Mr rose, Miss rose, Mr fashionista,

Miss fashionista.

At the end of function our function Incharge Mr.

Giri Prasad (Asst.Professor) and Ms.Roja

(Asst.Professor)thanked principal, teachers, and

the students of the college for their co-operation

in making function success.

Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Jyothi Institute of

Technology, Hyderabad organized an orientation program for the

newly admitted M. Tech students (2019-21) at the institute premises on

19 September 2019. The major objective of the program was to make

students aware of the academic aspects of the course, elaborating the

rules and regulations of the Institute and also the code of conduct as

per the academics.

Dr. Pallavi Badry, Departmental Head, Civil Engineering,

had clearly demonstrated about the Course regulations;

research profiles past inter connecting with future approach

and enhancement of Institutional do and don’ts and also

motivated the students to give there best of best in both

academic discipline and outsource research, the session had

been ended by creating a significant impact on the students to

DUSSEHRA CELEBRATIONS: 05/10/19

POST GRADUATION ORIENTATION DAY: 19/9/19

Bathukamma is celebrated for nine days during Durga Navratri. ... In

Telugu, 'Bathukamma' means 'Mother Goddess come Alive' and Goddess

Maha Gauri-'Life Giver' is worshipped in the form of Bathukamma – the

patron goddess of womanhood, Gauri Devi.

As part of dasara celebrations batukamma was celebrated at

college, in this the women from every department had made a

batukamma and placed in central block lawn and started the

celebrations with a special DANDEYA dance .

Concrete Day celebration held by ICI in association with

Ultratech cement Ltd.on 7th september at hotel marriotte.

The event is been honoured with many deligates and seniors

engineers. And the event is all started with a lecture on

kaleshwaram project and its continued with awarding

ceremony for different categories throughout Telangana

state.

The VJIT ICI student chapter has been recognised as the

best performing student chapter as against 21 other

engineering colleges. The students under the able guidance

of Dr. Pallavi Badry have also conducted many international

events and have been appreciated by the jury ICI.

VJIT honoured with concrete excellency award from Indian

concrete institute. a great moment to receive the award. This

achievement was possible due to continuous support of

students and faculty members.

AIRTEL MARATHON: 25/08/19

Flagship event of Hyderabad Runners Society and a

signature event of Hyderabad City. It is held on the last

Sunday of August every year. Started in 2011 with an aim

to spread awareness about running, active lifestyle and to

bring the city together for one cause.

Civil engg students of 2nd and 3rd years had taken an

initiation to take part in this flagship event marathon and

also many students had been volunteered for the marathon

which is been a great initiation by the students for

successfully leading the event by the presence. And every

student received a certificate of appreciation from airtel

marathon management for their affords and also received a

momentum as token of appreciation to Mr. Giri Prasad head

of NCC at department.

about the importance of the session. Then Dr. Y. V.Rao, Professor and Dean-Research and Development, Garden city

University delivered his speech on “Entrepreneurship and start-ups across interdisciplinary engineering courses” to the

students. Finally the seminar is ended with a question and answer session and Ms.Mounika, assistant professor given vote

of thanks to the speaker and all the honourable delegates for delivering their valuable content to the students.

ONE DAY SEMINAR ON “CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN

CIVIL ENGINEERING”: 25/10/19

The seminar was started with a brief addressing on gathering by HOD of

civil department Dr. Pallavi badry and explained about the three technical

sessions. Then Mr. Rahul reddy, AGM in reliable environment services

had delivered his speech on “The Importance of Site Job In Construction

Industry” to the students.

The afternoon session was addressed by two eminent speakers Mr. CH.

Ravi kumar, AGM in NAC, liaison placement officer, had given his

lecture on “Career Options In Construction Industry”. Later the seminar

was continued by Mr. K. Samiddin, AGM, manhattan reviews, hyderabad

on “Incubation Awareness & Opportunities” and then guided the students

about the higher studies in foreign universities and guided the students

about the skills required for professional jobs.

The seminar was started with a brief addressing on gathering by HOD of civil department Dr.Pallavi badry and explained about

the importance of the session. Then Mr. Rupesh Mittal Head-Cyber Jagruthi Programme, Hyderabad has delivered his speech on

“CYBER CRIME AWARNESS” to the girl students & He gave a brief awareness for girls how to be aware fraud activities.

Finally the seminar is ended with a question and answer session and Mr.Vikas, assistant professor , CSE department given vote of

thanks to the speaker and all the honourable delegates for delivering their valuable content to the students.

ONE WEEK FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON

civil engineering department on NBA

awareness. Various senior faculties

from different departments gave

awareness on fulfilment of criteria.

Industry Institute Interaction cell (IIIC) has

been established in Vidyajyothi Institute of

Technology in the month of may 2019 with

the vision of strengthening industry academia

interaction and reducing the gap in learning

through industrial practices for student. This

Cell is predominantly dedicated to promote

the close interaction of industry and various

departments of the institute. To bridge this

gap and to achieve the vision of the cell,

several events such as guest lectures,

workshops and technical seminars have been

conducted in the department of Civil

Engineering for creating internship

opportunities and projects for the students as

a paving path for placements. Those activities

are principally leaded by Dr Kamalini Devi

(Associate Professor) and Mr I. Praveen

Kumar Reddy (Assistant Professor) of the

Civil Engineering.

The civil department of VJIT college has started a student club “Delta” to improve the

knowledge and skills of students in a creative, interactive and gratifying way to give a break to

the stressful and busy student day. This club is formed by the students and run by students.

GUEST LECTURE

Mr. Mohammed Waseem Ahammed of Civil

Engineering Department VJIT was invited

for a Guest Lecture. He delivered lecture on

an innovative topic “Environmental Fluid

Mechanics” at KG Reddy College. He made

sure about the impact and effects of fluid

mechanics on Environment and the

measures to control pollution of fluid in

environment around Us by application of

theories of fluid mechanics. The lecture

was attended by 65 students and faculty.

Hyderabad.

Ms. G Sreeja and Ms. M. Mounika attended Faculty Development Program five days on Practical Training on Geosynthetics

and special Concrete at SRM university, Chennai.

Dr. Pallavi Badry awarded with a life member of Indian

Geotechnical Society.

Viranyu 3rd year selected for the Biggest Public Speaking competition.

Viranyu 3rd year worn 1st prize in the competition conducted in college on the “Back to

Better Earth.

Presented poster at Mahindra Ecole Centrale (MEC) by 4th year students 2016-20 batch.

D. Sai Kiran 4th year worn in the state wise wrestling competition held at JNTUH and

also for being selected for national level wrestling competition which is going to be held

in Haryana.
