INTRODUCTIONHave you ever wondered why trees are so important in our lives?What comes from them and how they grow.What everyday products are created by trees?Or even how they give us oxygen to breath?

TASK* Your task will be to create a children's book to educate children about the importance of trees in our society, how they grow, and what we use them for.

* You will be in groups of 4 students to help each other with each task.

* Your book should include illustrations and at least one sentence per page. There should be a minimum of 20 pages (front and back, ten total pages) in each book.

Accommodations:Students who are in need of accommodations will be put in a group were maximum help will be provided.(Spanish speakers, dyslexic students, etc.

PROCESS• You will first get into your groups and discuss what you know about trees and how they grow and reproduce.

-Make a KWL chart to discuss what you know, what you want to know, and what you learned in order to get a feeling of what

should be in your book.-Then make a rough draft of what your book will look like and

what it will include.

• Assign a job to each of your team members:

Leader (supervisor of the assignment)Writer (will write down ideas and put the final copy into the book)Illustrator (will draw the pictures in the book)Speaker (will present the final copy to the class)

**This is a group project and all group member must approve of each action taking part. All members should agree on the illustrations and the writing.

help. It will show you how trees have an impact in everyday life.

CONCLUSIONTrees give us everything from fruit to shelter to oxygen.

Just like us trees need nutrients, they get their vitamins from the soil

Like all plants and living creatures trees need the sun to grow big and strong.They need sun to realize oxygen and grow food for us to eat.

Trees give us many household items.Can you name what we have in our homes that comes from trees?
